Sksksk no problemo. Gimme a sec
The engine of Blue's shitty 73 Chevrolet Camaro was loud, and the Kid Rock blaring from the stereo of the bright orange vehicle added to the overall loudness of the vehicle. But that was the look, the sound, the vibe she was going for. And if there was one thing she knew about, it was aesthetics.
Stepping out of the vehicle, she didn't look at all like she had just at the end of last school year, before she had gone to stay in New York with her aunt. And this year, she had a plan. The list in her back pocket as she made her way across the parking lot was a reminder that she had spent so long coasting by, flying under the radar. So she was going to flip the script.
Diego looked up from where his circle of friends leaned against his car, as someone drove into the parking lot, blasting music. "What the hell?" he asked, as Blue Avillero stepped out of the bright orange car.
"Is that . . . Blue?" his friend Ben asked in disbelief.
"Uh yeah. Yeah, I think that is."
"Someone knows how to make an entrance," Ben said snorting.
"I think that was her point." Diego shrugged and spun the basketball he was holding on the tip of his finger, as the conversation went back to sports.
Blue had just barely managed to lock her car before she was being suffocated by a hug. "Lizzie, jesus-"
"First day of school!" Her cousin shouted, not at all letting her go. "I'm a freshman!"
"Yeah, I'm aware." Blye snorted, trying to pry the fourteen year old off. "Have you seen Amara? She got a ride from some guy today."
Ben punched Diego lightly on the arm, causing him to drop his basketball. "Alright man, Jack's having a beginning-of-the-year party at the end of the week. You gotta be there."
Diego sighed. "I can't Ben, I got work."
"Dude come on. Your uncle owns the restaurant. Just ask for the night off. Or ask to switch shifts or some shit."
Diego shouldered his backpack as he and his friends started walking towards the school. "I'll see what I can do, man."
"Yeah, she was talking to the cheer squad about some party this week." Lizzie said, nodding. "Some new guy's been dragged into her scheme? Poor sap."
Blue, giving up on getting her cousin to let her go, just started walking towards the school. "It's a new school, none of the guys know her game. They will soon enough though." Amara, the third cousin, had moved with her mother from New York, to live with them. And Amara had a thing for breaking hearts.
Ben and Diego's friends left them at the entrance to go to their various classes. Ben smiled. "First class of senior year, man. I have AP Lit. What do you got?"
Diego smiled, and shook his head, pulling out his schedule. Ben was always one for sappy stuff, like noting what your first class of senior year was. "Music theory." The first bell rang, signaling they needed to get to class. "See you on the other side."
((Should they have the same class?))
(Sage, can I do this with you too?)
((???))
(Like, a new thread but this same idea. Does that make sense?)
((Should they have the same class?))
(I was thinking that. If thats okay)
((Sksksk yeah I'm just a mess))
"You should be getting to class, kid." Blue said, finally managing to get Lizzie to let go. "Mom would kill me if she found out I made you late."
"Oh, crap." Lizzie's eyes widened as she pulled out a schedule, looking it over. "Where's, uh, Mr. Teagan's English class?"
"Down this hall, to your left, and it's on the right side of the next hallway. There's a picture of a cat on the door, you can't miss it." Blue instructed, already starting off down the hall with a wave. "I gotta get to class myself, but text me if you need anything."
(Nah dw about it)
The seats in Mrs. Miller's Music Theory class were filling up quickly. Diego didn't recognize any of his good friends in the class so far, so he took an empty table a little closer to the back. He didn't mind sitting by himself for the time being, and he would probably end up talking to whoever sat next to him anyways.
Blue slipped into the Music Theory classroom, stifling a groan at how many people were already inside. There was only a small handful of seats left now, so she grabbed one as close to the back as she could, next to Diego Herrin. She pulled her phone out of her pocket instead of looking at him, shooting Amara a text.
(Okay just an idea and we dont have to but maybe her list of 27 things can fall out of her pocket and Diego can pick it up to give it to her and thats how he finds out about it?)
"Hey Blue." Diego smiled at her, as she sat down, and he leaned back in his chair. Blue pulled out her phone and started to type something. "Hey, is that orange car yours? Because it looks pretty cool."
((That was the vague idea I had, yeah!))
Blue looked up from her phone, quirking an eyebrow. Her car was a piece of crap. "That was mine, yeah. Been fixin' her up since I got back." She even sounded different, speaking with an accent.
(Awesome)
Diego couldn't help but feel a little triumphant. He had gotten Blue to look up from her phone, after all. "Oh cool, back from where?"
"New York." Blue said, narrowing her eyes just slightly. Why was he being so friendly? "I was stayin' with my aunt."
"Oh that's cool. Like New York city, or just the state?" Diego pushed his hair back with his hand, ignoring Blue's suspicious look.
"City." Blue said, looking back down at her phone as Amara texted her back, complete with a selfie. Why was a selfie necessary?
