You can in some cases. If you go back in the Bible, it links Egypt and a host of Middle Eastern countries. Mormonism is deeply linked to the US.

Oh I meant specifically the idea-linking feature on this website for creating pages for religions and countries. Sorry, I didn't mean to dispute that real-world religious texts do make reference to the countries that existed at the time.

Oh. Sorry. I totally misunderstood. I've got no idea how to help you there. Good luck.

I think it's because religions can come from certain countries but countries aren't founded on religion or the idea of religion (except for maybe the U.S.). I hope this helped.

Vatican City

@Lord_Dunconius

I mean, the Vatican was also founded on a religious basis. And religion comes into lots of country's constitutions (and similar documents). The religion becomes generally less clung to by each country. The whole 'Separation of Church and State' thing became popular somewhat recently.

Adding a thought:
People don't like hearing this but Mormonism is based on Jewish faith and their temple rites which go way back to Abraham. Abrahamic rite is seen in tons of religions including the Egyptians. People "borrow" as what modern culture calls it. What this really means is traditions are passed down through the generations and people carry them over with them to other faiths. This is one thing that makes a religion. Tradition is important. If you see split religious household say like catholic and mormon mixed families chances are religious rites are pulled together and are practiced together to honor both sides of the family and their ancestors. Usually not to cause a divide in the family, upset or offend a member.
