There were barely any other people doing the course. He saw a girl, Mikayla, his mind supplied him with, about to start.

Mikayla looked around. Just as she could have seen Elijah, she saw her friend Alina. She waved.

Elijah blanked. “Uh, hi?” He said awkwardly, sending a small wave in return.

Alina ran past Elijah and gave Mikayla a huge hug.

Elijah rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. Of course she wasn’t talking to him. He just had to make a fool of himself, didn’t he?

Mikayla then spotted Elijah. "Oh, hey Elijah."

"Hey, Mikayla," he said awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.

"I'll talk to you later," She whispered to Alina, then walked over to Elijah, fixing her hair so that she could put her helmet on.

"So, I guess you've been having fun here?" He said, not completely sure if it was a question or not.

"Yeah, I suppose. This is the only year that it's two weeks, which is good I guess."
