@Yamatsu

Can it be considered a race if there's only two of them? Whatever.

Half-Dragons: Not much is known about them because they're so rare but they're main characters, so I'll tell you all about them, anyway! Half dragon and half human, they are bipedal and inherit whatever scales came from their draconic side. The only real human thing about them is the fact that they walk on two legs. it is unknown whether or not wings and tails occur at a certain rate, as one has both and the other only has a tail. They retain certain draconic abilities like breath weapons and magic, but they are far weaker due to the human genes found in them. Some other weird anatomical facts include being able to crane their necks vertically for long periods of time due to the shapes of their skulls and being able to make their scales stand on end as a way to cool themselves off. Dragons nor their half-dragon progeny sweat, but there's still a lot more to figure out.

If only humans were more experimental (or could get their pompous heads out of their asses)

@galaxyunicorn-is-in-love-with-starry

Ok mine is basically a human but with special powers that humans don’t have? So I consider them their own race?

They’re called the somnia (sing. somnium; from the Latin words for dreams and dream) and they create dreams. There are different groups of somnia who each play an important part in dream-making.

Writers- Writers write the dreams. They basically create the scripts. Known writers from my story include Emma and Caleb.

Painters- The painters create the backgrounds for the dreams. They paint the landscapes or wherever the dream takes place. Know painters from my story include Lia and Ash.

Actors- Actors use the scripts the writers (see above) create and perform in front of a green screen. I currently do not have any known actors.

Healers- The healers don’t do a lot but what they do can be life-saving. They heal anyone who is hurt in the dreams. Know healers from my story include Liam.

@Yamatsu

Do you have stunt-doubles for those actors who do the action sequences or fall from a great height, or is that what the Healers are for? Possibly Cameramen who control the points of view for each dream, Sound Technicians, Score Writers, etc.? You could have a whole race of people whose job it is to create dreams like movies! Though, I don't think you'll need the Intern That Gets Coffee For Everyone.

Ok so like there are two main races native to this world, but I’m gonna talk about the lesser known ones
The N’Dore(mountain people)
They’re these dark blue/purple skinned and slightly furred humanoids with giant bat ears. They live in the caves that run all through this mountain range called Dore (Doré is how it’s pronounced). They’ve got really big eyes but they’re all clouded over and white because they all go blind without seeing the sun for their entire lives. Some newer generations are simply born eyeless. They don’t really have a very distinct government and tend to travel the massive network of caves in their family groups or occasionally small tribes. The caves are an ecosystem in itself, different flora and fauna that have adapted to live despite the lack of sunlight. Most of the N’Dore worship a deity they call “Felidae” ((hint hint it’s a giant weird cat thing))
Some of the tribes are cannibalistic, others are very ritualistic; sacrifices and such
Some are just atheistic and really just try and survive
VERY RARELY one may come across a N’Dore in the towns surrounding the mountains. They are considered an omen of bad luck and are often turned away and shunned, sometimes even killed. These ones were usually exiled for commiting a crime, though sometimes they’re escapees or (even more rarely) were born outside the caves

@TheKitsuneOfSound

There are lots of races in my world. To keep it simple however, I will only list the main four races.
Humans: Just regular, typically boring humans. They often will express racism towards people from the other races. Humans cannot use magic.
Kitsune: A magical race of fox people. Kitsune possess two forms; their human form and their fox form. The human form is usually a young, attractive human with fox-like eyes. The fox form is (obviously a fox) the true form of a Kitsune, and is the form that a Kitsune starts in as it is born. Kitsune have one to nine tails, which represents their power. The more powerful a Kitsune, the more tails it will have. Kitsune also can use magic. Kitsune typically live with other races, either concealing their race or not.
Lycanthropes (also known as Were-people): Shapeshifters that can change from human to a certain animal, determined by the species of Lycanthrope they are. The most common Lycanthrope are Werewolves, Wererats, and Werecats (There are no Werefoxes, nobody knows why). They can use magic, related to their animal forms.
Warlocks and Witches: Essentially humans, except with the ability to use magic through a genetic mutation. Usually possess sociopathic or psycopathic qualities. Extremely eccentric.

Well here we go…
Humans are pretty much the same in every story, except that they may be race that adapts more easier to any enviroment…
So, Im using only one world because the rest have TOO MANY races or just two little…

My version of elves: elves are divided in 6… lets call them sub races, moon elves (white or really whased out tones of blue or purple as skin colors, hair goes from white to black, sometimes blue, eyes are always cold colors with white pupils), sun elves (golden skin, really shiny eyes and hair goes from brown to blond), dark elves (grey skin, shiny eyes that look like they been crying, normally have white tattoos on their body and hair comes in all colors), light elves (really pale, completely white eyes and blond hair), wood elves(dark skin, green or brown eyes and hair goes from all shades of brown) and night elves (dark blue or purple skin, blue, green or purple eyes and hair comes in all sorts of colors, all), this ones have some cat like features, like their nose or the shape of their eyes, elves are tall and skinny, have longs necks, long and bony fingers and a litle hint of fangs, their pointy ears are a little bit long and tten years equal one for them.

Fahrraes: their skin goes from white to black, some are more brown-ish grey, kind of like the dwarf, they have really light bones, pointy ears, shiny eyes that have all sorts of fantasy colors, their hair is always white, fahrraes have incredibly gorgeous voices and animal like feautres, their eyes shine in the dark and have elongated pupils, their tounges are a little bit snake like and most of them are nomads.

My version of dwarfs: they have really dim browns as skin tones, the hair goes by all natural colors, they have some small orc like fangs and small pointy ears, eyes can be any color, is like a cultural thing to have at least one tatto in the face and a dwarf having straight hair is extremely weird, obviously bears are something every male dwarf NEEDS to have.

Noivaras: look sort of humans, they are extremely pale except for parts like cheeks, fingers, ears, and such (sometime a suddle blush, others make them look as red as a tomato), their teeth are sort of pointy, their hair goes from all shades of red, eyes are any color but the pupils are really big and make them look almost black, some actually have black eyes, noivaras are a little bit bony and really flexible.

Nofeiras (vampires): pretty much created by a bunch of necromances (experiment gone wrong) they created your average looking vampire, pale, creepy eyes, fangs, this ones have claws in both hands and feet, this ones NEED blood in order to survive, is not something they drink once in a while, they need to drain the blood from a human (only human) every week, obviously the sun burns them but this is a really slow process and obviously painful, they have excellent hearing and smell anything, really bad eyesight on bright enviroments (obviously excellent in the dark), if you cut a limb it can be sewed back and be completely functional as long as is hasn´t been more than 24 hours and as some curious facts, they can drink elven, dwarven and noivara blood but only human blood can keep them alive, in fact, those are some sorts of delicacy or just something they drink for fun, it can be adictive though, only a few ones can turn humans into vampires (the rest are safe), the transformation ends in a week, they hate being called vampires (they started to call themselves nofeiras) and can only have children with their own race or humans, even though is hard for them to reproduce and with a human is way harder, dont worry, they live for thousands of years so no problem but still, as for how they are viewed, since they are considered victims to some extend, they are only allowed to drink the blood of criminals and such and sometimes can be hired by some people to do that (most of the time those stuff are ilegal)

Svire: Aliens with commonly red coloured skin, often four eyes and a face that slightly goes forwards; comparable to a muzzle. Four ears and four horns. Svire are seen as a working race, but their history is filled with war; often the Svire causes it. They can be described as dragon-like humanoids; often muscular or athletic looking. They don't have any wings, though ancient ancestors of the Svire (Primal Svire) had them. The Svire are somewhat large with an average height (both male and female) of 8ft. Combat is an everyday thing for them. Compared to ours, their culture is very violent (but seen as normal to them.) The only thing that most Svire say they'd admire from Earth is the "wars", but this is extremely stereotypical to say (unfortunately most Svire are like that.) Some Svire might be born smaller than normal and are usually left to die as a child. Usually, their fate is death, but in some cases, they can be taken in. Svire are capable of breeding with other races of similar ancestry. If the father is a male Svire, the offspring usually has a higher chance of survival. They are also compatible with humans. ((Basically, almost all humanoids are, but their offspring may not survive depending on multiple factors.)

Moch: Averaging a 7ft tall in terms of height, Moch are known to be mostly females. They are known for their ability to survive in the cold vacuum of space, and ability to breathe underwater. Essentially, the Moch are seen as 'gods' by other races. The Moch are known for being less humanoid than most races, with very long tails, and they even 'levitate' off the ground. Moch can stand on the ground as well. As the Moch are from a planet with longer night cycles, and often places where they just don't see the sun at all; the Moch have a unique feature where they can be bio-luminescent or even transparent (the latter often being a bit disturbing.) Despite their less-than humanoid appearance, the Moch are extremely intelligent. They were one of the first species to teach some of the humans about the stars. Unfortunately, they are an endangered race due to the Svire. Moch are generally white, or light grey. Sometimes, this colour isn't visible. Feather like appendages on their head, facing backwards. Moch can also be born not being 'male' or 'female.' All Moch carry the ability to reproduce asexually.

((In End of Time, and most of my Sci-Fi work, Terran is the term for human.))

Hybrids: Hybrids have certain rules. Sometimes, certain races aren't compatible, or frowned upon. Sometimes the offspring has a low chance of survival. Hybrids are generally extremely rare. Sometimes one parent gives most of their features to the child, while the other may not be visible at all. Sometimes it's equal. Hybrids might have a shorter lifespan or higher lifespan depending on lifestyle and history.

Moch-Terran Hybrids: A bit of a surprising discovery when they first recorded this happening. Typically, the Mother is generally the Moch, while the Father is the Terran. Offspring generally tend to be humanoid with features of the Moch (scales, bio-luminescent, white, pupil-less eyes..) Rarely do they have a tail, but this has been recorded. Often they have the 'feathers' on their head.

Svire-Terran Hybrids: Offspring has a higher chance of survival if the mother is a Svire. Offspring is commonly male. Will have almost all human features but skin might be drier and red. Eyes might also be yellow. In rare cases, have the four eyes, and small, stubby horns from their heads, but sometimes the horns can grow. Sharper teeth; capable of eating raw meat. Often taller/bulkier than the average Terran.

Moch-Terran-Svire Hybrids: Born from a Moch Terran and a Svire. Only one known hybrid currently exists. Generally retains the appearance of a human, with the abilities of a Moch (survival in space, water breathing but are often born with only one of the two) but may go without knowing this. Some have the strength of the Svire. The only hybrid has the yellow eyes of the Svire. Much is not known about these hybrids, since the current hybrid (to the characters of the story) is unknown.

Humans: Basically just the same humans in this world. Can be killed by weapons, accident, etc. and will eventually die, be it from old age or illness.
Immortals: Cannot be born, but can be made by healing a human from the brink of death (or bringing them back to life). Can live forever unless they are killed, they 'settle' at around age 20 or so into their permanent appearance.
Fae: Look almost identical to humans and immortals, but tend to move in a graceful, almost catlike way. Can manipulate their appearances. Spend the first 100 years of their lives developing and in general, grow a lot slower than humans. Cannot die unless they are killed by something made of iron and/or ash wood. Unable to lie, and have magical abilities.

@Yamatsu

Does it have to be an ash wood stake, or could someone with a steel upholstery hammer with an ash wood handle kill a Fae?

@HighPockets group

Does it have to be an ash wood stake, or could someone with a steel upholstery hammer with an ash wood handle kill a Fae?

If the metal part was iron, yeah.
Usually they stick to knives, swords, daggers, and arrows, but since I want to have the villain killed brutally I'm considering him getting impaled by a stick of ash wood and dying slowly.

@nat

In my world i have humans and a race i made up called Aviates (Aviator for male and aviatrix for female). After this big war a bunch of the other races in my universe gave up their magic so they could infuse it into a smaller, more concentrated and powerful force. Generations after that all the creatures began gaining their own magic back (cause dna and shtuff) but most humans didn't. those that did were shunned away and there are a lot more details i could go into but i dont feel like it. Any way, I dont really know what to call the humans who regained their powers. The humans who didn't began calling them something else a long time ago and it stuck even as history was lost but blah blah blah. Anyway, they human, but humans dont call them that and they started liking the name they were given. idk what that is (heyyy if anyone got ideas im not opposed)

@Kinarymo

okay, ik this chat is basically dead, but i find it very interesting so

The main race i invented is called Morphidae.
Morphidae are a race of powerful divine shape shifting creatures, that are kinda like the angels of my world, only unevolved. Despite the seemingly intimidating appearance, they are very docile and peaceful creatures, who wouldn't dare hurt a fly. They treasure peace over everything else and even act as guardians to the creatures in the areas they reside in.
Physical Characteristics

  1. The flexible wing shaped ears, that are kept down or perked up, depending on the individual. Despite the wing shape, the ears are actually covered in soft silky fur. They also possess large predator-like canines, despite having a predominantly omnivorous/vegetarian diet.
  2. Morphidae are larger than the average human, standing somewhere between 7ft and 9ft tall - despite this, they are very light, since their physical body is made up of a special matter that allows them to shape shift with ease. They often jokingly refer to their physical form as nothing more than a "very convincing illusion" - the only part of them that they consider "real" is their Soul, the very culmination of their being. Their Soul is generally seen as a brightly colored marble, (the size of a baseball) that is hot to the touch; in their humanoid form, the Soul is not visible, but it is generally believed it's located in their chest, since their bodies reach very high temperatures in the area of the heart (they have a binary vascular system btw, meaning 2 hearts instead of one)
  3. They have slightly larger eyes than normal, usually brightly colored with white glowing pupils - Important!: Green is an extremely rare eye color for Morphidae; the few times it happens for one to have green eyes it's usually a mix between green and another color, or it's heterochromia. The only Morphidae in history to have had pure green eyes was the first Morphidae King, who was known for other genetical anomalies such as albinism, that was passed down to his daughter and can still be seen in her present day descendants.
  4. Morphidae do not posses reproductive organs as they reproduce through fusing their souls matter (complicated to explain). Because of this they often have an androgynous appearance - since this is very confusing for other races, Morphidae agreed to integrate gender differences in their appearances (males often have low pitched voices and more masculine features while females develop small breasts). The whole "who is male who is female" thing is dictated by how likely an individual is to be the one to bear the offspring (the so called "gender" of a child can be determined by looking at their souls - again, complicated info). The gender differences aren't visible until the Morphidae reaches the so called "puberty".

Even though they spend most of their lives in the humanoid form they are born in, a Morphidae's actual true form is that of a large beautiful serpentine spiritual creature, with smokey volatile fur and masked faces - they rarely show this form, but when they do, it's a truly astonishing sight to behold.

Behavior
Despite the intimidating stature, they are in fact very docile, hospitable and friendly creatures. They appear to have been gifted with infinite patience, as it is very hard to annoy them. However, they will fiercely protect their young against any danger, as children are highly valued in their community given that Morphidae generally produce only one (or two, if lucky) offspring every 1000 years (sadly, in the current times, most creatures barely survive long enough to procreate once). Should a Morphidae child be orphaned, the little one is cared for by remaining family or the community itself.

Lifespan and social life
They need about 1000 years to reach full maturity, both physically and magically. In older times, when Morphidae weren't as hunted as they are now, they could live long enough to experience their "Final Transformation", through which they evolve into Angels by growing a pair of wings and their Soul solidifies permanently. Once transformed, they usually moved to the Spiritual Realm, from which they kept a watchful eye over the loved ones they left behind. Present day Morphidae struggle to survive long enough to find a mate and produce an offspring, after which they dedicate themselves to protecting their young, even if it means losing their own life in the process.
As a society, they are very united and supportive to one another. They do not use currency, nor conduct businesses as every individual has the ability to provide themselves with whatever they need - despite this, a Morphidae does not hesitate to share their goods with other creatures if need be. Although hard to notice, Morphidae do have a hierarchy scale, but the roles each individual is given are played only in times of need. In peaceful years, these creatures treat each other as equal, from the simple civilian to the king/queen themselves. While Continental Morphidae are known to be extremely hospitable and friendly, their Polar counterpart are slightly more serious and silent, but just as hospitable.
They used to reside all over the world, at first living in broad daylight, then keeping their existence hidden from the eyes of humans when they started to hunt them. Even when hiding, they would often help and guide humans and other creatures that lived near them.

Mating
Every Morphidae has a destined mate since birth, with whom they are united after they are matured enough to have offspring - in case their mate dies before they meet or have children, a Morphidae can be paired with a different single individual. If the couple had children prior to the death of one of the partners, the remaining mate does not remarry.
The mating process itself takes place when two Morphidae consider themselves ready to become parents. Their usually solid Soul heats up until it becomes a boiling round mass. The Souls need to be soft for this process to take place, otherwise it won't work. Once both Souls are properly heated up, the Morphidae with the male role carefully transfers a part of his soul to his partner - this in turn weakens the Morphidae temporarily. Once the Soul piece is transferred, the female Morphidae proceeds to slowly mix it with an equally sized piece of her own soul, until the end result is a homogeneous Soul mass - the soul of a new Morphidae. From this point on, the new soul is left to solidify and accumulate magic - this is the period of the actual physical pregnancy. In total, it takes about 11 months for a Morphidae to conceive and give birth to an offspring, the Soul mixing time taking up to 8 months

Reason of endangerment
Morphidae are currently an almost extinct specie, caused by mass hunting by humans. The creation of the Crimson Gear has brought down their numbers significantly.
Fun Fact: The Crimson Gear daemons are actually created from Morphidae - their souls are forcefully ripped apart and deprived of their Core, their magic is then embedded in an item. The magic without a Core has led to the daemon's true form to faintly resemble that of a regular Morphidae, except black, twisted and corrupted. In the entire history of the Gear Daemons, only one Morphidae survived the whole process and escaped.

This is an example of what a Morphidae roughly looks like (i'm still developing the idea)

And this is the Daemon that was created using the magic of the character above (his item is a sword, in case you didn't figure it out)

Srry for the lengthy post, this is the best i could summarize everything there is about them my info is so messy oof @-@

Birebil
The Birebil are described to humans (with their limited words) as an owl-cat-bat-vampire-webspitting demon. A bit to take in, but that's the best I can give you. However, the Birebil are not hybrids, nor are they demons. They are their own race, living in a different universe to ours (or not ours, but similar). Most of their general body shape is similar, with different heights and fur textures, as well as colouring. They can grow up to 3 story buildings, but most never reach this size. Instead, the average height is 3 metres. Most that do reach 3 stories generally use magic.
Magic, to the Birebil, is not used often. In fact, magic is used to enhance things at the very most. The Birebil prefer to use their natural weaponry and weapons created by forgers.
They have a mixture of feathers and fur on their body, and large, cat like ears, as well as a grin filled with sharp teeth. They're not always grinning, however. They have long tails and massive wings. They also have four arms. Two attached to the wings, two desperate. They can walk on wings. They have their legs as well, which end in being very bird like (like their hands and talons.)

In general, the diet of a Birebil tends to be on small creatures, mainly mammals but also reptiles. A rare snack for them are the Bholine, a race in which they are currently at war with. Despite the Bholine and Birebil being at war, they also have similarities I will mention later. Back to the diet, the way a lone Birebil feeds (meaning it has no young to care for) varies, again. Sometimes they swoop down and grab their prey, and drop it from the air. Other times they kill it then and there in the air.
Webspitters, a nickname for the patient Birebil in dark, but warm places is a fitting nickname. They nest in places where they know the small creatures come to escape the cold or nasty weather (or sometimes they nest in tall trees) and wait, for days upon end. Sometimes even months. They set up webs as well, small invisible ones (at least first glance) and when a prey walks on it and triggers it, the Webspitter is aware of their presence. They follow that web, and again, the way they kill their prey also varies. They might suffocate them in webbing. Other prefer a live target, and captivate them with their gaze. Whatever the choice is, most Birebil feed in the same way.
Using long, vampire like teeth, they have a meal on the creature, like a spider, almost. Whatever remains are left they typically leave for other creatures to feast upon, or perhaps a lure for more prey. Sometimes they leave them alive again, like a supply, although this is rare.
The Birebil that do not feed this way generally feed upon smaller creatures, but they have to hunt more often. They swallow their prey whole. And this is where they get the nickname owl from (or at least part of the reason) since they cannot digest bones and certain fur or feathers they later cough up pellets.

Despite laying eggs, and having a bird like look, Birebil are mammals. And, the Bholine, despite looking reptile-ish, are also mammals.

Birebil typically do not speak English. They are from a different world, after all. The only known Birebil able to speak English is Zloba, and that took her hundreds of years to finally figure it out.

Northern Birebil tend to be wild, but not as wild as the Southern Birebil. Southern Birebil are known to cannibalize, and cannibalism is not as frowned upon around here. Southern Birebil tend to speak a different language as well. Eastern Birebil are the main forces against the Bholine, and are generally seen as more civil with their rankings system. Western Birebil are seen as civil as well, but inferior, and forge most of the weapons for Eastern Birebil for the war.
