In the universe I'm putting together for the site (for a game of Delta Green if it's relevant) I'm running into the problem of not knowing where to put aliens.
It feels odd to put them in as "races" because I'm already planning to use that for the human related creatures. That said both "creatures" and "groups" seem like even worse places to put them.
If anyone else has run into this issue I'd love to hear how you resolved it.
For general worldbuilding, I use the technical term of species rather than race to show the different genetic structure of other beings and also that they can't produce viable offspring with others.
You can customise a particular page, so I don't understand why you can't use the 'Races' section? I also have aliens (who are insectoid) so I categorise them with 'Races'(/Species) because they're still sentient and sapient, even if their outer appearance is different from that of humans.
I don't feel like this has been helpful, but let me know anyhow (Sorry for being so quick too, I saw this on the 'Unread' tab).
Don't know if this helps but I use creatures for species, and races for ethnicities/peoples if that makes sense. It doesn't seem realistic that a whole entire sentient species just has one of those (it can happen I suppose but normally it wouldn't, right?) But well, I know that's not how it's traditionally done in fantasy.
Almost all the fields in the "creatures" category apply to sentient species just the same as to the others. Actually I think at the moment I only have my sentient aliens in the creatures category :,D I should work on that.
@standingondesks That's probably what I'm going to do. Especially if the default fields support more intelligent species. I just assumed, for some reason, that "creature" implied less intelligent species.
I personally think the Tag system is incredibly useful to sort stuff like this.
