(Part of a 100 Words a Day Challenge I set for myself; not too proud of this entry, but it is the last thing I copied.)

Wonderful. Awesome. Terrible. Horrific. Awful. Horrible.
These are overused, and the polish has gone out of them.
Does it bring you a sense of wonder? Or just a small bit of pleasure? Then, it is “nice,” not “wonderful.”
A sense of awe? Then it is either awesome or awful. Simply exclaim in “Wow” or something like it instead of using a term too magnificent for the moment and subject.
Does it bring terror to your soul? Then it is terrible. Horror? Then it is horrible.
Stop being so dramatic in your words, especially if the subject contains no trace of such wonderfulness.

The Game of Life

Life and I are playing a game,
It had to do with my soul and his claim,
He tried to hide that he suddenly cheated,
I started an argument, it became heated.
He refused he ever did such a thing,
I showed him proof, he confessed with a grin.
His eyes filled with a wicked flame,
And tells me bluntly, “I never play by the rules of the game.”
