Thank you for the advice! The Half-Dragon is literally a child between a human and a dragon (the egg can come from the human or the dragon), and part of my character's story is the fact that he has a few hindrances due to his parentage, like his magic being significantly weaker than his Dragon father. If he doesn't work at it, it will atrophy like a muscle. I'll try that naming with roots idea that you mentiones, that sounds really cool!
@TuneInForTragedy this is a lot wow late but there are a lot of reptilian-humans in Greek mythology. The most famous is Medusa (a gorgon), of course, but there's also the mythical first king of athens who was half-snake, and Lamias, half serpent women, and Echidna, half woman half snake. There's also many chinese myths that involve human/dragon or serpents mash-ups, but these are more about dragons or serpents with human faces or personalities. I don't know If you want natural creatures or the results of curses and such though, if it matters.
I thought echidnas were those cute little rodents where the males have four tips on their penis!
Wait, what?!
Half human half snake are Naga
in my story, a wyvern is considered a cousin to the dragon, but wiht an extra pair of arms and smaller.
