Alex was back to smiling giddily as Cas held his hand. It was impossible not to, plus his hand was so soft. It was a little difficult to focus on the conversation now, but he tried.
“Because they feel threatened by witches, of course.” Rain raised a brow. “Maybe, a century ago, something happened that gave witches an edge over vampires. Especially the true vamps with long family histories and inherited power. And vampires didn’t like that.” Then she shrugged. “Just speculation at this point, though.”
They let out a sigh. “And yes. We don’t need to continue the cycle any longer.”
Alex mused over her words for a moment, almost getting lost in his thoughts. Then he glanced over and smiled back at Jeckle. “Obviously we’re immortal, but we’re not going to be in college forever either. All I’m saying is that you could maybe wait until college is over, and then you can throw caution to the wind.”
Rain just gave Jeckle a look as he spoke.
