(sorry i could have sworn i replied to this)
Azalea walked into the kitchen and filled a teapot with water. She put it on the stove and started boiling the water. "I am an Azalea after all" she said, making a joke. Plant jokes were her favorite when people talked about her flowers. "What kind of tea would you like? Black, green, peach, herbal, peppermint? " She asked, rifling through her cabinets and pulling out jar after jar of teabags that clearly were handmade
(It’s all good, I do that literally all the time XD)
Farah gave a small smile. She was still on her guard, waiting for something terrible to happen. She’d heard too many stories and lost too many friends… No, she needed to stop thinking like that. Her magic was powerful, and she could defend herself if it came down to that.
“Indeed, you are,” she agreed with an easy laugh. “Herbal would be splendid.”
"Okay, I can do that." She replied, getting out a herbal teabag and a peach teabag. She got out two mugs and poured boiling water into each. She got out two weird-looking containers and put a teabag in each. She put the containers in the mugs and sat on the counter as she waited. "I hope you like it. I grow the tea leaves myself." She grew every fruit, vegetable, and herb in her house. It saved her a lot of money
Farah watched her process, smiling in appreciation. She was very particular about certain things, one of those being the way her tea was made. Her eyes took in each step carefully, watching for sleight of hand that might have been used to slip a drug of some sort in. She hated that she had to assume the worse, but it had to be done.
“Really?” she asked, inclining her head to show her interest. “That’s impressive. Does it take you long?”
"Not really". She said "The longest part is drying the leaves. It takes about a day if I'm making a large batch, but other than that it's not really that difficult." She was kinda underselling the effort it took to make the tea leaves. She had to collect the leaves, boil them in flavored water to flavor the tea, dry the leaves, break them up, and then put them in little paper-cloth teabags. It really was a proccess
Farah nodded in understanding. “Good things take time, though, do they not? To do something truly worth your time, it takes effort.”
She appreciated Azalea’s tea even more because of the dedication the woman had to her craft.
She took the containers out with a spoon and put them in the sink. "Of course. Sugar?" She asked, putting a small amount of sugar in her tea and stirring it.
“Yes, but not much,” Farah said, quickly adding the second part of her sentence. She came to stand beside Azalea and watched her with observant eyes. A more logical part of her made sure there were no sedatives slipped into the drink.
Azalea put a small amount of sugar in the tea and stirred it gently. When the sugar was dissolved she hand Farah the cup. "Hope you enjoy"
Farah smiled softly back and dipped her head. “Thank you. I’m sure I will.” She lifted the cup to her lips and took a drink. Immense flavor burst in her mouth, and she covered her lips with her hand. “That’s splendid!” she enthused after swallowing the liquid. “You must be some kind of—” Earth Fairy. The words died sharply on her lips. “Tea Alchemist,” she finished instead.
"Thank you!" She said before taking a sip of her tea. She was indeed just really good at making tea, as that was all she really drank. "So how did you end up that deep in the woods?" She said. she was curious as to why this woman was just standing there in the middle of the woods, doing seemingly nothing at all
Farah took another sip quickly to avoid the question for another few seconds. “I was just out for a walk,” she answered lamely before taking another sip. She felt her senses heightened, and it wasn’t because of her magic.
"Understandable" She said, taking another sip and looking out the window at the setting sun. It had been late afternoon when they met, and time seemed to fly
The late rays of the sun caused a few of Azalea's flyaways to glow an almost golden hue in the light. Farah admired them for a moment before collecting herself. "And you? What were you doing so deep in the forest?" she asked casually.
"I heard a sound and chased it. Got a bit lost but clearly made it back okay." She said, just as casually. She didn't care to know why she was just standing there if she didn't want to tell
Farah laughed quietly. “Did you find the sound?” she asked with an amused tone to her words. She continuously sipped on the tea. By the stars, it was good.
"I'm pretty sure it was you" She said, giggling a bit in return. Farah seemed really nice. She could tell if things went well they'd be friends
The fairy smirked. “Likely,” she agreed neutrally. She would have been insane to tell the woman the real reason she was in the woods.
"So do you live around here, or?" she asked curiously. She wanted to know what direction she came in, because she's in a closer part of the woods, so for her to have come from any direction but north would mean she'd had to been out there for hours, even days
“You could say that,” Farah answered easily. There was a cottage deep in the woods that several fairies stayed at occasionally. Humans were forbidden to know about it, so she stayed clear of any specifics.
“How long have you lived here?” she asked in return, motioning to the house around them and hoping to steer the conversation elsewhere quickly.
"Since i turned 19." she replied. "My dad bought this place for me when I left for college. Do you go to school?" She asked
“Yes,” Farah answered, realizing her mistake only seconds later. “But it wasn’t anywhere near here though.” What was the word humans used for other schools? she wondered quickly. “Um, abroad.”
"Thats cool. " She said, finishing her tea and standing up. "If your done I can wash your cup" she offered
It was all Farah could do not to sigh with relief. She didn’t need Azalea questioning her.
“Nearly,” she replied, taking a few finals sips before handing over her cup. “Thank you.”
"Welcome. It's getting late, if you want to leave you can, or say your welcome." She said, meandering off to the kitchen to wash their cups
"Your offer is gracious, but I should be getting back," Farah replied politely.
(What if the next time she comes back, Azalea's father is there???)
(I love it)
"Of course. Be safe." Azalea said sweetly. "Your welcome any time you'd like"
(YESSS)
Farah smiled and waved. "You're very kind," she replied softly before leaving out the door they had came in. She looked back and ran for the forest.
"Thank you." She said as she went back to the kitchen and finished washing the cups.
(timeskip to next time?)
