Sloane tensed up, shivers running down her spine. She could only feel that she was just another toy to her goddess. That was a thought she didn't enjoy. Many responses ran through her head, but she tossed them all away bitterly, knowing that they might induce Endra's wrath. She had never seen it firsthand, of course. But it scared her all the same. She took a deep breath, glaring defiantly down at the goddess. "With what power, huh? You and I both know your powers are but a shadow of what they once were."
Endra never stopped smiling. Her finger brushed against her angel’s temple again. “Doesn’t mean that I can’t take that lovely, neat, and orderly little mind of yours and tear it to shreds. You’d certainly be on your knees then. I don’t know why I haven’t done it yet, to be honest.” It licked her lips, as if she was hungry. “I could feast on your mind…. And you could be my little agent of chaos.”
What little confidence Sloane had in being able to defy her mistress dissipated just like that. As if it had never existed. She closed her eyes briefly.. breathing in.. and breathing out.. and opened them again. Obedience, she repeated to herself. An angel must learn to show obedience to her master or mistress or face the consequences.
Another deep breath. Her bright blue eyes stared down at the goddess in front of her, gaze softened and no longer full of rage. Sloane dropped to her knees, head bowed. She knew the punishments for daring to disobey her mistress. She knew she deserved it. How could she have dared to assume she knew what was going on in her mistress's mind? "I recognise my wrongs," she began softly. "I know the consequences of my actions. You are free to enact punishment in whatever way you like."
Her voice and smile seemed to lose that sense of hunger as Sloane bowed. She looked down at her, tapping a finger to its chin. “Oh, little angel,” it said cooly, “so predictable. I’m sad to see your spine go after just a few seconds. Hm, how about you just answer this one question for me?”
Endra’s tail curled, and it pulled her legs under her and sat in front of Sloane. It reached over and tilted the angel’s chin up to face her. “What could’ve possibly incited such defiance from you, my darling? Whatever did you encounter in the mortal world?”
(hey. i have schoollllll so i'm gonna have to go for a few days. i'll reply when i'm back thooo )
(Lol same. It’s chill dude)
Sloane's body stiffened. As willing as she was to receive punishment – she knew she deserved it – she did not enjoy the idea. And yet, here was her goddess, toying with her. She didn't know what to say. Even worse, she wasn't sure if she would be able to say anything if she opened her mouth. Instead, she opted to shake her head softly and hope that her message was carried across. "It's not important," she would have like to say. "I was wrong, anyways."
Endra pouted her lips in disappointment. “Oh, but my darling,” it whined, “my darling dear, I am so curious. I simply must know.” Then she gasped softly. “Ooh! I should go down there myself. It’s been too long, there might be an artifact from the past floating around somewhere.”
Her veil fluttered a bit as it stood, making her way around Sloane and towards the exit of the small floating temple where she stayed.
Sloane looked away, disappointed in herself and with her actions. "…as you wish," she whispered softly, her voice barely audible. She got up to watch Endra walk away, unsure if she should stay or go. Usually, it was her who would go in search of artifacts.. perhaps her mistress was disappointed in her performance..? She didn't like that idea. After all, since she was the only angel of it, she had to be at her peak performance. And yet.. she had failed.
The goddess stopped, and turned to its angel. “Well?” She tilted her head. “Come along, and you can point out exactly what it was that got you so riled up, hm?” She motioned with its hand for Sloane to come with her. “Besides, it would be a nice change of pace, yes?”
Sloane closed her eyes briefly, trying to make sense of the situation. "… yes, you're right. It would be nice," she said, giving in.
As on edge as she was, she knew that to defy her goddess would be to defy her master—and to do such would be to go against the very reason for her existence, and so, she stepped closer, trailing just behind Endra.

“Hmm. Good little angel,” she hummed. Endra made its way out of the temple. She walked along the cloudy grounds and peered down to the mortal realm below. It bent down a little to take a good look, then walked a bit further. Once the goddess found a good spot, she turned to Sloane. “I expect to see you there.” It grinned.
And then, she fell from the cloud, plummeting to the land below.
(HIIII)
Sloane closed her eyes again, still feeling uneasy about this. She took a deep breath, before diving in as her goddess had done just a few seconds earlier.
Earth was just the same as it had been before. If one didn't look very hard, everything could have almost seemed like a paradise. But look too close, and the illusion begins to fall apart at its seams. The subtle heat, the eerily empty streets, the laughter of the children playing in the park nearby, the pale faces. The children played, but not amongst themselves, nor with the world around them. No, they sat on the grass, absorbed in some virtual reality as they giggled.
Perhaps this sight might not have been so unnerving some decades ago, but now, the internet was a dangerous thing, and it was unclear to the average viewer whether they were being preyed on or not.
The uneasy feeling from earlier only grew in intensity.
(AH IM SORRY I’m messaging this so I can remind myself to respond, can’t now cuz it’s late)
((GOD DAMN I FORGOT THIS EXISTED HHAAHAAHALKSDJSDKDSGSD))
((ALL GOOD))
(Sit on the grass? What grass? Wouldn’t they sit inside? Djdskjdsjk)
Endra looked around as she fell towards the earth. It was certainly nothing like she remembered, and this made it excited. It slowed as she neared the ground, landing perfectly on her feet. Around her, the city sprawled and glittered. It adjusted the veil over its face. Normally, she would have disguised itself to look more human, but now it was unnecessary. People won’t see want they don’t believe in.
(HEL TRUE ITS FINE JUST IMAGINE ITS SOME ADVANCED TECH OR LINKED TO THEIR PHONES IDK)
(Heyyyy)
