(Sorry! I thought I replied!)
Sorrel giggled at the kisses, a sweet smile following over his lips as he curled up into his beloved husbands chest. This was his favorite part of the day, he wanted to stay here, but he also wanted to go and get a treat with his kids. He pressed a kiss to Jas's neck, moving closer. "I love you." He whispers, nuzzling into the others chin. He pressed closer, sapping off his husbands warmth. "Of course darling." He giggles a bit, "I'm glad you liked the breakfast." He hummed, his arms around the other's shoulder in content, a satisfied hum leaving his lips. He shut his eyes in relaxation, a soft sigh leaving his lips.
Loki laughed quietly and shook their head. "No worries, you won't have to do this for a while. As for what I'm writing, it's about whether or not technology is going to be the savior or Achille's heel of humanity." They snicker a bit and ruffled her hair. "Interesting stuff."
"I love you too." He replied, chuckling lightly as Sorrel got comfortable in his lap. His hand resting on Sorrel's side lightly skimmed over the scars pepper his body. The first time he had seen the scars, he had been so scared to ask how Sorrel had gotten them, not wanting to bring up any bad memories, that he had to excuse himself early from their date, later texting him how sorry he was for bailing and consistently sending small gifts everyday until they could meet again. It hadn't been because he was disgusted or uninterested. It had more to do with his concern for Sorrel's safety and well-being. He eventually did ask about the scars and had promised that no more scars would added as long as they were together.
Sighing softly and shaking himself from his thoughts, Jas nuzzled Sorrel's brow and pressed a kiss to his hair, hugging him close.
Athena laughed and rested her head against Loki's shoulder as she finished up her last assignment. She didn't really understand Loki's essay concept but she did recognize the part of Achilles heel, remembering from her bedtimes stories that he was a great warrior until he was struck down from an arrow to his weekest point, his heel. "What's so bad about technology though, we have computers at school. Those are really fun! We play games on them and stuff."
The scars that had been prominent when they had first met had faded, except for a few that rested along his hips, inner thighs, and wrists. He wore them like battle scars, unafraid to show them, show he was a survivor. He worked through hell to get where he was today and he wouldn't change anything. When they had gone on their first date, Sorrel had been careless and hadn't hidden his scars well enough. He had feared the worse when Jas had dismissed himself from the date. It had broken his heart really. He was scared that he had scared off Jas. However whenever Jas had texted him apologizing, he understood. When they were dating, some of those scars were brand new. He had shared his story to Jas, but instead of being pushed away he was met with open arms that saved him. The promise was kept. Not a single scar had been added since they started dating. Sorrel's mind was drifting when Jas nuzzled into him, a soft smile falling over his lips. He had been clean since they graduated highschool. He pressed a soft kiss to his husband's lips before relaxing again.
Loki laughed quietly, "That's a good question. Sometimes technology can be good and bad. Like when I play for too long on my computer." They chuckle and ruffled her hair before returned to thinking out their essay.
Jas smiled softly at the kiss, humming a soft tune as Sorrel settled against him once again. He liked these quiet moment, where just a single touch or look was enough to say so many words. His thoughts wandered away from when he had seen the scars to a few years later to the day of their wedding, right before the ceremony when they were all getting ready. He had been walking the halls of his parents home, looking for his dad to help with some last minute decorating when he had stumbled into Sorrel's room. He remembered just standing in the doorway, gazing at Sorrel for a few moments before rushing towards him and kissing him hungrily for a few long minutes. He had broken away eventually, muttering how beautiful Sorrel was, then kissing him again in short bursts anywhere he could while he murmured his vows to Sorrel, not caring if it wasn't formal.
Jas lightly traced the wedding band on Sorrel's hand, humming one of their wedding songs as they waited for their kids to finish up their homework. "Mom called earlier." He murmured softly, kissing Sorrel's temple with a small smile. "She says hi and asks how you're doing. She also asked about the apothecary and how its been doing. Told me she'd been growing lavender and wanted your insight on what would grow well with it." He explained with a little laugh. "Any ideas?"
Athena nodded slowly, still not seeing the negative effects but not wanting to bother Loki with more questions, already getting antsy to go out and eat some desert. To keep herself occupied, she cleaned her little area, putting away her crayons and carefully putting her homework in her folder and then her backpack

(Sorry. Life has been hectic. I'm kind of back lol)
He listened to his husband hum, nuzzling into his neck and releasing a soft sigh of content and happiness. This is where he felt the happiest, in his husbands arms, at home, and with his kids. Sorrel heard the wedding song that Jas was humming and his mind flashed to that beautiful day… Jas's family had made him feel more loved then his own ever had. Sorrel's parents hadn't even shown to his wedding, which he was relieved about. He had been so anxious that day, preparing for that moment where he and Jas would be married, they would be official. He was so excited, but the anxiety was still there, still gnawing at him. But when Jas had entered his room as he got ready, had kissed him senseless and whispered his wedding vows, Sorrel's anxious mind had eased.
He pressed closer to his husband, his darling Jas, and a sweet sigh left his lips. This… this was perfect to him. He was in a sort of dreamy haze as he listened to Jas speak, his lips pressing slow and soft kisses along Jas's neck as he thought for a moment. "Mm, your mother is wonderful." He murmured quietly between kisses, "I'll have to give her a call this weekend. The apothecary is doing well… I'm the luckiest man alive, and that lavender grows well with oregano and basil…" He murmured sleepily, pressing more kisses along his husbands neck. He sounded so happy as he spoke, his eyes filled with love and adoration as he looked up at Jas, "God you're so perfect." He gave a happy little sigh.
"And you two are so cheesy." Loki snickered, setting their pencil down. "I thought we were getting ice cream, not fondue." They laugh a bit and stretch, putting their things back in their backpack. "Alrighty, Athena, ready to go get some treats?" They pick their little sister up and haul her onto their back.
(It's alright! I'm glad you're back! Hope you and your family are doing well!)
"Really? She'll be glad to hear that. She's been dying to grow more herbs at home for a while now." He replied, a breathy laugh escaping him as Sorrel trailed kisses along his neck. He gently pulled Sorrel onto his lap, holding him gently in place at the waist with one hand, the other hand gently tugged out the hair tie holding Sorrel's hair in a loose ponytail. He combed through his husband's hair with his fingers, detangling any knots until it was silky smooth and free of snags.
"I'm nowhere near perfect my love, but I must be doing something right to have deserved such a beautiful angel like yourself." He murmured softly, glancing up when the kids put their homework back into their backpacks. He chuckled softly "we are getting ice cream. Just waiting a couple of slow pokes." He teased, gently nudging Sorrel up. "We'll have our fondue later." Jas stood and stretched, ruffling his kid's hair.
"Wha- how come daddy and papa get two desserts? What's fondue anyways?" She whined, resting her head against Loki's.
He chuckles a little bit at Jas's words, a soft hum of content leaving his lips. He moved closer and leaned into Jas playing with his hair, melting into the touches. It was rather sweet really, seeing how eagerly he just fell into the touch of the other and melted at physical attention. "Mmm…. I call bullshit." He teased softly and smirked up at the other. "You're perfect just for me." He whispers, nuzzling closer before glancing at his kiddos. A promise was a promise, no matter how comfortable his husband was. And he had promised to get the kids a treat. He laughed a little at Loki's words before slowly getting up and pressing a quick kiss to Jas's cheek. He held his husbands hand as he watched his two beloved kids. How on earth had he gotten so lucky with this beautiful family? He was glad that he had pushed through what had happened to him in high school, if only he could tell his younger self that it was worth it, that everything that had happened was worth it now. He was relieved in a way.
"Fondue is a kind of cheese dip. Which is why I told dad and papa it felt more like we were getting fondue rather than ice cream since they were being so cheesy with each other." Loki laughed a little bit and carried Athena out to the car, humming happily as they did so.
Jas smiled softly as he watched their children walk to the door, eyebrow raising in amusement as the two interacted. He rested his head against Sorrel's shoulder and sighed in content. He couldn't be more happy in life. "What are we going to with them, hm? They're too intuitive for their own good!" He exclaimed, chuckling and kissing Sorrel's cheek, looking up at him with so much love an adoration. He gently caressed Sorrel's hand with his thumb and grinned over his shoulder as he gently pulled him towards the door to the waiting car. "And to think, I would have gone through all the trouble of a homemade dessert for nothing tonight." He mused with a laugh.
Sorrel smiled at the sight of their kids, a small laugh leaving his lips as he pressed a soft kiss to Jas's forehead as he spoke. Sorrel smiled at the kiss to his cheek and shrugged hopelessly. "Indeed they are, my love." He laughs quietly and looks down at Jas with just as much love and adoration. He followed after Jas, laughing again as he settles into the car, "If it makes you feel better, love. I still would have had the desert." Sorrel glances back at Loki and Athena with a small smile on his lips. "Alright you two, where are we off to?" He asks warmly. "Is there a specific Ice cream place you two want to go to?" He took Jas's hand and places a soft kiss to the back of it.
"then I'll surely let you know when one of my spur of the moment baking ideas comes along." He replied happily, settling into the drivers side. Jas had never been the best cook or Baker for that matter but always loved how cakes and pastries looked so easy to make on TV that he figured the worst he could do was not try. If they didn't come out great, it was no biggie, at least he had tried something new.
Athena shook her head, giving her dad a sweet smile "nope! As long as they serve ice cream!" She glanced over at loki and grinned, estatic that they were finally going to get their well deserved treat.
"alright, let's see what we can find then," has said, gently squeezing his husband's hand after the kiss and pulling out of their drive way. "Any idea as to what you'll get?" He asked as they searched around their little town for a good place to settle.
"Imma get the banana split! With all the toppings!" Athena declared, "chicolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream with nuts and cherries! Oh and whip cream! A lot of whip cream!"
(smol bump but also sort of a plot idea?
Was think maybe the parents of either Loki or Athena try contacting them, maybe wanting them back?)
(Ou! I love that idea! And I will reply soon, just thinking on a reply!)
(alright cool! We could have that possibly tie in the day after hey get ice cream possibly. And yeah of course take your time, no rush at all!)
Sorrel beamed at that and pressed a quick kiss to the back of his hand. Sorrel loved it when Jas baked, always clinging to his husband in the kitchen in want of little taste tests. He'd help where he could though and he often took care of the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. Sorrel chuckled at his daughters excitement, shaking his head a little bit at the sight. "A banana split with all the toppings, huh? What do you think love?" He glances at Jas, "I think she's worked hard enough. As long as you promise to listen to your tummy, baby. We don't want you getting sick like last time." He chuckles quietly.
Loki ruffles her hair and hummed. "As long as I get Neapolitan ice cream, I'm good." They laugh quietly and leaned back in their chair, scrolling through youtube. "With whip cream on top of course." They added as a second thought.
"I raised you well, Loki." Sorrel laughed quietly into his hand, reaching forward and turning on the radio, keeping it a low volume. "I think I'll get a cookie dough ice cream. Or mint chocolate."
Jas nodded in agreement "I think she definately has." Jas replied, smiling softly. "But your papa is right, don't eat so much that you get sick."
Athena giggled and nodded "I won't!" She promised glancing over at loki as he ruffled her hair and parting his hand gently.
"Can never choose just one so you get all three, hm Loki? Smart move." Jas chuckled lightly and gently stroked Sorrel's hand. "Sadly they haven't made a neopolitan of your father's favorite ice cream flavors yet." He smiled at his beloved before focusing back on the road.
"Papa what will you get?" Athena asked from her backseat.
"I think I'll grab a vanilla milkshake with some strawberries, nothing to fancy." He said with a shrug.
He chuckles and nods, a small smile on his lips. "Alright then, a banana split for the young goddess." He hummed and gave a small laugh. "Loki has proven time and time that they like to think out of the box." He laughs warmly and glances back at the two kiddos. God he loved them, and he loved Jas. All of this was just perfect to him. Sorrel glances at Jas and brings his hand to his mouth, pressing a soft kiss to it. "I'll probably go with the mint. It's always been my favorite." He laughed quietly and glanced at the road. "Remember when we got the strawberry milkshake on our first date?" He snickers softly. "You got whipped cream on your nose." He smiled at the memory, squeezing his husbands hand.
Loki snorts softly at that, leaning back in their seat and giving a relaxed sigh, scrolling through memes on their phone as their parents talked.
Jas nodded and smiled fondly "I do indeed. And as I recall you so graciously helped clean it off." He laughed softly and gently squeezed Sorrel's hand. "So bold, even on the first date." He teased gently "I think I turned more red than the milkshake."
Growing bored, which really wasn't surprising for the young goddess, Athena rested her head against her sibling's arm, peeking at their phone and smiling softly at the funny pictures of cats and familiar cartoon scenes with words around them.
Jas eventually pulled into the ice cream parlor driveway they liked to frequent in the center of town and handed each of the kids a $10 bill, enough to cover their orders as well as any extra toppings they wished to add.
He laughed as well, pressing a kiss to his hand. "You looked like a strawberry." He hummed happily. He loved thinking about the old times, how much they had grown as a couple, how much they loved each other. Loki played little video's for Athena to keep her busy during the car ride, or let her play on their phone. When they got to the ice cream parlor Sorrel smiled. He had always loved sweet things. He hummed and scooped Athena up onto his shoulders. "Shall we go get your banana split then, goddess?" He asks cheerfully. Loki would deny it if asked, but they stuck close to Jas as they looked around at all the ice cream options the parlor offered. They were very fond of their parents…. even if they drove Loki crazy.
"yeeees!" Athena cheered, waving hers arms around as she was place on her dad's shoulders. "Let's get ice cream! Yay!" She giggled and rested her hands ontop of Sorrel's head, toussling his hair a bit as they waited in line. "Papa, I wanna order my ice cream this time." She said, excitedly waving around her 10 dollars.
"Still making a last minute decision, dear?" Jas asked Loki with a chuckle, looking up at the board of options. He glanced down at his phone as it rang, brows creasing. "Order for the both of us Loki, I'll be right back." He said, stepping out of line and heading off a bit to talk. "Anna, hi. It's been a while." He greeted their old social worker. She's always been great to work with, especially when it came time to adopting both Loki and Athena, even keeping in touch for the next few years after the adoption.
"Yeah, few months, sorry for not calling sooner to check in, how are you and Sorrel?"
"We're great, We were just out having ice cream with the kids." He explained happily.
"Ah I see, let me guess, an everything sundae for Thena and a neopolitan for Loki?" She asked with a laugh
Jas chuckled lightly "yep, exactly that." He paused "Anna what's this about?" He asked softly
He heard her sigh softly "you know me well Jas." Jas heard a shuffling and low muttering before she began speaking once again . "Do you remember Elaina?" She asked
Jas' straightened from his relaxed posture and glanced over his shoulder at his kids and husband for a moment "yes. Unfortunately I do. What about her?"
"Well..she wanted to see Loki again. Even brought up something about another court case." She continued, keeping her voice gentle.
Jas took a deep breath "Anna, can we talk later? I don't want to ruin the kid's or Sorrel's night with this." He said, trying to keep the sharpness out of his voice.
"Of course, I'm so sorry I cought you at such a bad time."
"It's not your fault, thank you for calling. I'll be sure to let the kids know their favorite person called."
He dropped the call before Anna could reply, trying his best to pull it together, at least for a few more hours
He laughed softly and nods, "Of course my little goddess. You may order." He glanced back at Loki and Jas, his eyes growing a tad bit concerned when Jas exited the line and off to the side to talk with someone. He smiled a bit at his kiddo's, one of his free hands moving to wrap around Loki's shoulders. "Everything okay, bud?" he asks softly. Loki shrugged hopelessly. "Dad got a phone call, said he wanted me to order for him." Sorrel's eyes flicker towards his husband outside and nods a bit. He ruffled Loki's hair and pressed a soft kiss to their head. They knew they would probably talk with Jasper once they were home and away from prying eyes.
Jas stayed outside for a bit, texting his parents, letting them know Anna hand called about Elaine and they might bring the kids over for a few days. He didn't want the kids around for any of that. After a few moments of gathering his thoughts and taking in a few deep breaths, Jas went back into the parlor.
He walked over, wrapping an arm around Sorrel's wait and pressing a kiss to Loki's hair. "Sorry I kept you waiting my loves, something came up." He offered a reassuring smile, "have you ordered anything yet? He asked, gently ruffling Athena's hair. "We better order soon, else we'll end up changing our minds if we keep looking at all the options." He mused with a small laugh, determined to have a good time with his family, even if the thought of possibly seeing Loki's birthmother did set it on edge a bit
Sorrel glanced over at Jas when he came back, a gentle look in his eyes. He could tell something was bothering his husband, but he figured that he didn't mention it in front of the kids it would need to be something they needed to discuss. Loki smiled a little at the kiss to the top of their hair, humming softly before shaking their head. "We're just waiting on the line." They hummed softly. Sorrel nods slowly, taking his husband's hand and pressing a gentle kiss to the back of it in assurance. He wasn't sure what was happening, not yet at least, but he wanted Jas to know that he was here and he was going to help how he could. They made it to the front of the line and he allowed the two kiddos to order first before looking at Jas and letting him order first.
Jas nodded and glanced over at Sorrel when he kissed his hand and resting his head against his husband's shoulder and whispering a small 'thank you' before gently pulling away to order.
He waved to one of his former students working in the back and handed over his $10, adding on cookie pieces last minute then telling the person assisting them to keep the change as a tip. He gently nudged Sorrel and nodded so he could order. He glanced over at Loki as they got their ice cream and smiled softly.
He turned when he felt light tapping on his head then giggling. "You have my attention, my dear goddess." He laughed softly and gently took her hand
"try! It's really good!" He waved her spoon towards Jas. He chuckled and took the offered spoon, scooping out a small bite from her cup of ice cream.
"You're right, this is really good, I might get that next time." He mused with a smile.
He'd forget about Elaina today. He just wanted to have a nice night out with his husband and two kids.
Smol boops no rush
Sorrel glanced at Jas in a little worry, pressing a kiss to his cheek. He nods and smiles at the thank you before watching him order. Sorrel ordered his usual, setting the same amount on the counter before nodding a bit and looking over at Loki and Athena with such love and adoration. These were his kids, Jas was his husband, they were out getting ice cream together… nothing could be more perfect than this. Loki leaned quietly against Jas as they waited for their father to get ice cream. Once all was said and done they glanced at both of their dads. They offered a small smile to Athena before moving to stand beside Sorrel, leaning against him. Sorrel wrapped an arm around Loki's shoulders. "Shall we go sit outside and enjoy this wonderful treat?" He asks cheerfully.
Loki nods slowly. "That sounds like a good idea." They offer a small smile. "The sun is setting. It might make some pretty pictures!"
