Adagio nervously paced around her living room, constantly glancing at the clock as it steadily progressed towards midnight. The anxiety continued to rise in her. Once it struck 12, it would be when she would find out who her soulmate was, the person she would spend the rest of her life with. Her friends continued to be all giggly and tease her about it, but she was very out of character, stressing out and being serious. Another minute passed. Another minute closer to the inevitable.
Yesim quickly prepared the stuff for her soulmate, hoping this was enough. She had cleaned her desk and in the center was her laptop with google translate open in case the other person didn't understand English. To the right side, there was information about her like her name, age, gender, personality, interests, hobbies, etc. There was a world map attached to the wall on the left side of the laptop then on the table there was a globe close to the corner of the table. There was also a map of where she lived. Then topping it all of, her bedroom was the same if the other person wanted more information on something that she hadn't thought of. If they wanted to see more photos of her, they were scattered around the room and on the desk.
There was five minutes left until midnight, when her best friend Elizabeth came over to her side. “So, are you not preparing anything for your soulmate?!” She asked. Adagio gave her a sheepish look and said, “I didn’t think to.. I thought you and the others would just tell her what she needs to know…” Liz rolled her eyes, then handed her a notepad and pen. “You write a note, and I’ll lay out these pictures you took and pictures of you, then open your phone to your contacts so they can input their number.” “Okay, okay,” Adagio said. She leaned over the table and wrote, “Hey, I’m Adagio Labernyth! Your soulmate! Yay! So, I’m 22 years old, and I live in Southern California, my exact address is (fill in here cause I’m too lazy to come up with one). I’m a photographer and musican! I really can’t wait to meet you- I bet you’re just wonderful.” She put down the pen, and ripped off the sheet of paper, and put it next to the clean paper. Only two minutes now left.
Yesim was pacing her room back and forth quickly, trying to make sure she had gotten everything and hadn't forgotten anything. Also, her mind kept making up scenarios where she forgot about something that was important for the other person. What else do I need? What else? Wait…my phone number! She quickly went to her, took a pink sticky note and wrote down her number on it then slapped it onto the laptop's edge. She was planning on taking her phone so she could use it and hoped her soulmate also did the same. But she had a backup in case they didn't, she had a landline next to her laptop. When she glanced at the clock, about thirty seconds left. She took a deep breath and sat down on her bed, trying not to stress out.
As the seconds began to count down, Adagio jotted a few more important things down on the paper, including her phone number, and other stuff like that. She decided she would keep her phone with her, and hoped that her soulmate would have their phone with them, and if not, they’d at least have the note. She looked around one more time, trying to figure out if there was anything else she needed to do. She stepped back, and took a breath, as her friends began to shout, “Three, two, one!” Adagio closed her eyes, and the sound of everyone disappeared. When she opened them, she was in a different room. “It worked,” she whispered in wonderment as she got up and walked to the desk in front of her.
Yesim shut her eyes when she realized she had five seconds left and waited, the sound of the birds chirping outside her window disappeared. She opened her eyes to find herself in a different room and people around her. She looked around the room curiously then looked at the group of people. "Are you my soulmate's friends?"
Elizabeth was the first to respond, and said, “That we are! I’m Elizabeth, that’s Jessie, Ryann, Allison, and Shelby.” She quickly pointed out the other girls. “It’s honestly great to meet you- you have any questions, just ask us!” She gave her a welcoming smile, hoping to give her a good thought of Adagio.
Adagio quickly took in all the information that was layed in front of her. Her soulmate- Yesim, really seemed to have put a lot of work into everything. She felt bad for just rushing about things last minute. First things first, she whipped out her phone and put the number on the sticky note into her phone. After triple checking it, she moved on, and ended up staring at the map of where she lived. They weren’t that far apart! Excitement started to flood her as she realized she could be meeting her soulmate sooner than she had thought.
Yesim nodded. "Okay then." She turned towards the piece of paper and read it quietly. She quickly opened her phone and put in her soulmate's phone number. Excitement flooded through her when she heard South California was close to where she lives. I wonder if she likes me…
Adagio was nearly jumping up and down with excitement once she had finished reading everything. She planned to call her soulmate as soon as she switched back. Everything was so perfect, her soulmate sounded wonderful, and they’d be able to meet each other in person soon. The only thing that kept intruding her thoughts was “what if she doesn’t like me.” Her heart pounded, and she tried to force the thought out of her head. Things would go well, things had to go well.
Yesim ignored her thoughts and kept trying to focus on the information around her. She should like me, right? I mean, we're soulmates for a reason….right?
