So my story line is basically this:
There are 4 brothers who had enough magic to create their own corners of the world, the first two create theirs with the right amount of magic but the 3rd brother(oldest to youngest) is sick of being a middle kid so he uses the rest of the magic to make his world- the last brother can only create a shack and therefore his is a desert wasteland. Years and years and years later there are four kids each from one of the sections of the world that want to go beyond the border on the inside(imagine a circle in the middle) even though it's against the law. They all overcome challenges(idk what yet) to get there and when they get there they somehow find each other and learn about the world's past(only knowing their sections's past/ didn't know there are other sections) and unite to overthrow the government and tell the people what actually happened.

I'm stuck there and I have the characters and locations and backstory but idk what to do? Any help is appreciated!

I think a great way to figure out the challenge for each character would be develop the character, then create a challenge that would challenge them. Let's say…. you have this super athletic kid, and while they're smart, riddles are not their forte. So you would have a logic type challenge for them, something that they can't outrun or beat in a battle of strength.
Then when they all meet together, there's probably not any trust between them, so another challenge that will unify them and while challenging for each one, they're able to rely on the strengths of their new comrades.
