I've got this kinda fairy tale story going but it feels like the plot just… It's predictable. Like Princess runs away from arranged marriage, gets cursed to never find her way home, meets a bandit who is also cursed (to have super long hair no matter what she does to it) and this blind girl who was cursed to see bits of the future and they band together to get the curses lifted. And they go through a bunch of witches who are like "fuck no none of my business" and eventually they get back to the one who cursed the bandit (they don't know that) and she initially doesn't want to but she agrees after some sweet talking from the Princess.
there's a couple side plots, one with the bandit and the Princess's sister who ran away to live in a tower and the other with the Princess's ex-fiance, his older brother, and the Princess's second oldest brother.
But I feel like the main plot is really predictable so like any tips???
Maybe, the three main characters are different races? I LOVE using the conflicts between races in my stories. Like, in one of my stories, humans and demons hate each other due to humans accusing demons of evil. Also, in another, queen werefish are cannibalistic predators that compete with weredragons over who rules the world.
Am I allowed to ship the princess and the bandit? PLEASE?? Sorry I have a shipping problem.
Anyways, maybe make the curses more intense? Because at the moment they're a little minor. Also maybe have one of the cursed characters keep their curse secret? That could fuel a mini conflict if you want. Also, maybe they don't break the curse? So instead they kill the witch and simply live with the curse. If this is true, maybe the princess gets given a name like 'the wondering soul' or something cool like that and instead of thinking of it as a curse, she instead just embraces it. And maybe also have something that the characters need to run from like a threat. Like maybe the princesses father becomes afraid of her and sends assassins to kill her due to her curse? Also, try make their characters as un-cliche as possible. So a bandit who is very planned out and polite(compared to the rash and reckless cliche's), a blind person who literally has no clue whats going on but is the funniest person ever (compared to the wise sensible ones) and a princess who swears constantly or if its PG is everything a princess is the opposite of: polite, quiet, thin - Rude, loud, big ect…Also maybe have their curses get worse over time? So yeah maybe her hair is super long to start with but then as time goes on, she turns into a centaur or something. Just ideas…
It sounds pretty good to me, but make sure you have super strong backstories to everyone. Like the princess could have an overpowering family who hasn't let her step out of sight, the blind girl could be battling something inside herself, the bandit could have a bad past or something… just make sure the characters are well thought out and have tons of depth.
Maybe the person the princess is supposed to be married to is the one who cursed all of them?
