I currently have 3 characters and no plot. Ack.
It's sort of a fantasy, but not with typical fantasy races. So far my three MCs are a shapeshifter, some sort of part cat part human thing, and a human (she's a witch).
Any ideas for a plot?

@Yamatsu

How "hard" is your fantasy? Is it leaning towards Lord of the Rings or Bright (that terrible movie with Will Smith about orc racism in LA)?

@Yamatsu

One is like Dungeons and Dragons in the Middle Ages, the other is literally replacing black people with orcs in a modern-day LA. There's also a dragon that flies over at night, but there is no explanation.

@Yamatsu

Because it's like "Oh damn! Is that a dragon?!" "Let's focus on elf wizard shit!" "But, wait, what about the dragon? I want that!"

(("X-files music intensifies" HAHAHHAHAHA))
If you'd like to pinpoint a plot, maybe you can start with the setting! When you envision these three characters, do you think of them in a particular era/time? Would you like them to act in the modern times, or somewhere back then? As for a specific location, do you have anything in mind? It can be a school, a sleek city, the countryside, and other things like that! You can try feeling for those things with the vibe your characters give off.

@Elizabeth

I'm having the same problem! I only have 2 good thought out characters and the main one possesses telekinesis. I'm honestly really stuck! anyone have any good ideas?

@Yamatsu

Well, if your main character has telekinesis, I was a part of a gigantic thread on ways to creatively kill someone. Maybe that can give you some ideas? Possibly on a villain with similar powers?

(Edit: The thread is called "Ways to Creatively Kill Someone Using Telekinesis")

@bluejaya

Well my mind immediately goes to a traditional quest. If they're dnd style adventurers, maybe they have some artifact they have to find to save the world, or villain to kill to save the world, or there's a war breaking out that they have to find a way to end to save the world. Are you sensing a theme? There are plots aside from saving the world, obviously. Maybe they have a friend to rescue, or a localized problem to solve, like a problem that plagues only one city, as opposed to the entire world.

I'm realizing that all of these are way more traditional than I think you're going for, but you can suit stuff like that to a more modern world, it's just a matter of changing certain elements. You can do a classic quest style in a modern setting, it's just going to be a more percy jackson then tolkien, you feel? I don't know if you've read percy jackson but it's a very good example of a classic-style quest in a modern setting. Hope this helped!

Try coming up with the things the characters fear most, the things they need most, the things they love most, and the things they want most. From there either threaten what they love, take away what they need, have them strive for what they want, or have them confront what they fear most.
