@Cassiopeia
So, I'll cut right to the chase..
I'm writing a murder mystery, and I need a motive for the killer. However, all the ideas I keep coming up with seem to keep coming to the same theme and thus almost identical to each other… I could use some fresh ideas!
Some things you should know about the setting. . .
-
It takes place in 1979, so there were women's movements, pride movements and environmental movements going on all over the place, the vietnam war ended in 1975, and the energy crisis was happening as the story unfolds.
-
The town they live in is… tiny. The population is probably below 2,000. Tiny and mostly comprised of Christians. (Baptists, specifically. Because I myself am a baptist, I'm quite familiar with the kinds of people there can be XD )
And some things you should know about the culprit. . .
-
They will likely be around 16-18, because the cast is mostly focused around the Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes of Cypress Creek High School.

This is not set in stone, but I was thinking that what links all the suspects could be that the victim knew a secret about each one of them. And he acted as a sort of secret-keeper to them. How and why is currently still a bit fuzzy, but you know.. Better than nothing!
Any help is very much appreciated, if you need more info on some characters, I can link you to some specific characters on my notebook/plotting tool website. Thank you so so much~!
