I don't necessarily have favorite songs as I do favorite genres, so I'll tell you about my favorites from each genre I like!
–Jazz: Chick Corea's Spain is really fun to listen to and has a main focus on the keys with a bit of sax and trumpet. When the chorus hits, you've got a mix of keys, muted trumpet, and flute taking the top part. I love it so much, and I was introduced to Corea's works only a few weeks ago.
–Funk: The entire discography of Vulfpeck is really good, but I have to give special mention to Sky Mall, with one of the fastest, funkiest slap-bass lines I've ever heard. The Wurlitzer takes most of the chords and a few sound effects here and there, but my favorite part with when you hear a really loud clang somewhere in the middle. One of the legs was loose and fell off during recording, but it was so on-beat and funny that they kept it in.
–Rock: Lacquer Head by Primus tells of the dangers of huffing, but the bass line is so damn good! Most of it is slap and strum, and I love when the bridge has all of these weird sounds accompanied by "Keep on huffing 'til your brain goes pop." The music video actually shows segments from other Primus music videos to capitalize on their weirdness.
–METAL: It's like I have to choose a favorite child, but I think I'll stick with Armed and Ready by Jeff and Casey Lee Williams. The chords! The vocals! The amazing harmony right before it drops into the chorus! The lyrics! The SHIPPING POTENTIAL! Oh, I love it so much! If you haven't watched RWBY, I not only highly recommend it (even though seasons 4 and 5 are garbage, but they had a good reason, at least), but I also recommend listening to all of their music!
