Most of my friends are in orchestra and band so hello to my fellow sopranos, altos, contraltos, falsettos, tenors, baritones, and basses (if y'all exist)

Yeet, I'm the only one who can hit high notes in Phantom of The Opera and Think of Me

Let's see… I'm in Drama, Choir (Alto, but I can sing Soprano), and Orchestra (Viola/Fiddle).

@Yamatsu

Hello, I am a bass. I really should be a baritone, but we have no one else who can go as low as I can. Kinda ironic, given the fact that I do well in my higher range.

@Becfromthedead group

Does anyone know how to get over that break in your voice where you transition from low to high? I’ve been told most people have it, but it’s been a long time since I seriously sang, so mine is super bad and also at an inconvenient point (around G4).

@Yamatsu

You have to work it, quite literally. I've found that singing for months on end and having to change registers a lot eventually made it so I can push through with my head voice rather than going falsetto. You need to keep the sound at the front of your head and sing brightly, but it's gonna sound bad. Like, REALLY bad for a while. I can't tell you how long it takes before it sounds good, but I know that it happens.

(My friend let me listen to some Phantom of the Opera…omg I'm tempted to see it all)

@Tiani

I'm an alto but I can sing other parts depending on the song, we have a three way split in our choir but sometimes we can sing up to 6 parts if we have to. We just finished with "the seal lullaby" which was pretty cool

Sing all the time, sing different parts and switch between the two. I did this by singing the male part then transitioning to the top sopranos part when I was at home. It will help you get used to awkward transitions and jumps

@ember-chan-will-never-forget-you

you know when your choir teacher starts playing the song and you're like, 'yeah, okay, uh-huh, i got this,' and then they tell you to sight read the first five pages and you're like, 'well that's unfortunate but i can do that' and you open the music and stare at the time signature
because
it's in
6/8
and you wanna die

@PuffPoff

I've always been an alto but recently my voice has dropped even more to more of a contralto/tenor.
I have been trying to improve my range (mostly my head voice) so I can go a little higher than I usually do. I've also tend to belt a lot to I'm trying to stop doing that so much.

@hollow-boned

my singing is very soft cuz i'm almost never home alone but my range is kind of like billie eilish's except without some of the crazy high notes and i can go a little lower. also i've been sick for almost a yr continuously so i'mnot in amazing shape

@PuffPoff

Yeah I've been sick for a while as well. That's how my voice got deeper.
I'm home by myself most of the time so that's probably why I belt so often :D

6/8 is just 3/4 with more beats! Come back to me after you've tried reading in 13/8. While you're at it, listen to Ganondorf's battle theme from Ocarina of Time. 23/16, baby!
