@Sugar-Lover

I just looked it up and realized it’s a movie. I’ll definitely watch it soon, even if it does have a open ending. I still have no idea what it’s about, but the title has me hooked, lol

The best part about kdramas is also their worst part; theyre an hour long. Also there’s only one season. So you think you actually can watch 10 dramas in a month, but really it’s almost impossible.
On a side note, my friend and I had a sleepover once and we watched 3 web dramas because we were bored. And it came into conversation with one of our teachers how we watched 3 whole tv shows start to finish during the weekend. She thought we meant ‘normal’ length shoes with 3-5 seasons. We didn’t bother to correct her

@shattered_heart

Aw, you are so lucky though. I dont think anyone in my family or any of my friends would be interested. I really wish I had a drama lover to share them with. I kind of wanted to watch them with my younger brother, but he is a little dyslexic so he cant do subtitles, like I can.

Besides, I tried watching one with my sister once, but it got awkward in a very cringey scene. It was a girl disguising as a guy. They dont usually show anything, but it was still awkward. I was gonna try Princess Agents but I remembered theres a scene in the first episode, that would be awkward. I am so lonely watching them all to myself. And I think most people would judge me.

@Sugar-Lover

That was two years ago and I’m not really friends with that person anymore. They kinda just stopped talking to me, so now I don’t have a kdrama friend. All of my other friends don’t know that I like kdramas, so now I’m lonely when I watch them.
And why do they always have those awkward cringey scenes in every drama ever? Like no matter what it is, there’s always a scene that fits that description

@shattered_heart

And if they dont have any scenes, they at least imply one.
Legend of Fuyao doesnt really have one though, that I remember. Well, there was that scene a girl climed into the main guy's bed. But he knocked her out, lol.
Its so loneky though, having this amazing secret just to oneself. You just want to share it with everyone but no one else feels the same. I found a series once and I shared it with my sister, and she shared it with everyone, and they kinda killed the fun of it, so it is a complicated business.

@Sugar-Lover

It is like having this amazing secret that you want everyone to know, but you know they won’t understand it. I once showed my brother a drama because it had a lot of action and crime in it, but he stopped watching after the second episode because there was a lot of romance in it. It’s like no matter what the plot and genre is, it’s always a romance.

@shattered_heart

Have you seen Sirius? It is only four episodes long and while there is a teeny bit of romance, it really focuses on the two main characters who are twin brothers. Its amazing! And as a bonus, no cringey scenes.

@shattered_heart

Problem is, is that in dramas with no bad scenes, there is usually something else. In fantasy for example, the mc might use dark magic or in modern ones, do something wrong like help the bad guy so as to save someone. You know, like have questionable morals. But I cant help but love them all the same. They are so addictive.

@Sugar-Lover

No I haven’t seen it, but I’ll add that to my watch list. I personally find it kinda funny how it’s all rated like pg-14, but it’s like the equivalent to pg in the western world’s rating system. Like they are so conservative (not that that’s a bad thing), but compared to west we just have a completely different culture.

@shattered_heart

Well, I watched a G rated movie once that had adult themes in it. It was really awkward because my younger siblings were casually watching it while I was cringeying in my seat.
So my sister is still showing signs of interest despite that cringey scene, but I dont know what to watch with her. I showed her a couple of drama specials but she wants a fantasy one not modern day.
Any suggestions? She is more particular about movies then I am and since we will be watching it together, we dont want cringe.

@Sugar-Lover

You could watch Nightmare Teacher. It’s a modern day one since it takes place in a classroom, but it’s not like other dramas. I don’t remember romance being a part of the plot, so there shouldn’t be any cringe scenes. It does have that fantasy aspect of it tho. It is a series, but it’s shorter since all the eps are like 15-20min. It’s also not scary (even with a name like that) I cant watch horror movies, I get scared by everything

@shattered_heart

Haha, I watched some Supernatural episodes once. Needless to say, I suffered several sleepless nights. I also cant stand dolls, due to my parents watching a creepy doll movie when I was younger.

I will check it out, thanks. I gave her Sirius to watch and she kinda liked it. She just thought the end could be more satisfying.

@Sugar-Lover

The ending of Nightmare Teacher was pretty satisfying. At least from what I remember. It had a very distinct ending and conclusion.

@shattered_heart

Is it on Viki? Because the subtitles on Youtube are mucked up.
I am starting to wonder if this was a good idea, lol. She started watching Pinochio and is telling me parts. I am just like, sis I havent watched it, dont spoil it.

@Sugar-Lover

Yea, I watched it on viki. YouTube subs are something.
Oh, I’ve been wanting to watch pinocchio. Can you let me know if it’s any good?

@shattered_heart

I know, I watched Novoland Castle in the Sky on Youtube and everything seemed fine until the final episode mid the climax. I almost cried, lol. Only last month did I find a new upload of the episode with completed subtitles and finally finished it. I really loved it at the time but looking back, I dont know why I did. The mc dude was horrible and didnt deserve her.

Well, I am in the midst of watching three different series, lol. But she seems to be really enjoying Pinocchio. I will double check with how she is going though.

@Sugar-Lover

Finishing a kdrama after such a long absence always brings a feeling of completion, but it also brings the having not knowing what to do next. Also how did your sister like Pinocchio if she finished it
I was about to finish To The Beautiful You, when news broke about Sulli passing (the female lead actor) and now I can’t bring myself to watch it. I really wanna finish it,w but I also don’t. And I want to start a new one because sometimes you just get That-Drama-Itch, but I don’t want to start another one because that’s when I don’t finish the one I was watching before. So I’m in a similar state of emptiness and confusion I guess…?

@shattered_heart

She is about halfway. She was watching it on Youtube and the episodes became all jumpy, so she stopped for a while, but she recently told me that she found newly uploaded full episodes.
She said it took a while to into it as it kind of started off like it might be lame. She said she has liked if so far, but isnt entirely impressed with how the guys treat the girls.
I dont blame her for that, especially as she was kind of affected by seeing our other sister going through a bad relationship when we were younger.

I was going to watch To the Beautiful You but I saw Sulli's name. I have never seen her drama's but I had heard about her tragic death only a couple of days before, so I could not bring myself to watch it. It hit me hard, because it was a video on korean celebrities who had died. I knew several of them from their dramas and what struck me the most was that they had all commited suicide.

I am not watching anything in particular at the moment as there are way too many options.

@Sugar-Lover

I glad she found some of the rare full length episodes lol.
The guys in kdramas don’t always treat the girls with the best respect I feel like. Sure, there are some that do, but for the majority, there is at least always that one guy who doesn’t. Sometimes it feels like the two guys just objectify her and fight over her that way.

Yea, recently (the past few years) the korean entertainment system has been going through a lot. They keep losing so many of their amazing artists, and it’s especially sad because of how they went. And that’s what they would rather be doing than continue what they’re doing. If it continually is happening, they should reflect on how they’re treating their celebrities. It is sad how each of them goes, but it’s even sadder how it’s reoccurring and at such young ages.

@shattered_heart

So, I finally started Strong Woman Do Bong Soon…..and I am hooked!
It has made me both laugh and cry out of joy and sorrow. I now understand why it is a such a high rated drama.
I am only up to episode 12, so nearly finished. But I dont want it to end, lol.

I have also watched The Birthday Letter (Kdrama Special). I am really unsure as to whether I would recommend it or not. Like it was so good, but it was too good. Like it really had you wrapped into it, like it had every control of your emotions. It was a little choppy, but not in an unbearable way, just enough to male you wish they had been able to lengthen it.
It is a 2 hour series divided into 4 episodes, which is a nice length for a quick watch.

@Sugar-Lover

Sometimes I feel like the worst part sometimes it’s a plus is that kdramas are so short. Like they’re only a season long and you just want it to last longer. But since they don’t last long you can watch so many more

Strong Woman has been able to do so many genres it’s amazing! Every time I think of it, a different genre comes to mind and it amazing. Like it’s a comedy, romance, supernatural, it’s got some mystery and crime with detectives going on in it.

@shattered_heart

I like a lot of genres which is why I enjoy it so much, because it like fits them all in. And do bong soon is not an annoying whiny character either. She is strong, brave, kind and funny.
And dont get me started on An Min Hyuk. He is hilarious but so sweet. I love his reations behind Bong Soon's back. Where he is like giggling about how cute she is.
I mean, it has an extremely high cringe factor but it is totally worth it, lol. It really is amazing.

I know this discussion's pretty old, but 'Go Ahead' is a great C-drama that came out this year. It has a lot of family themes and humor - I definitely recommend!

Is it a modern one? I am looking for a good Cdrama to watch :)
