"Well, I would hope so. It seemed my umbra healing worked." Raf unbandaged to wound one last time, taking one good look at it. "Where else did that bitch bite you? I will make her pay, either by my hand or someone else's."

Raf whimpered. "At least your father seems nice." The room when dead silent for a few minutes. "I feel like I'm far from home, Eyros. Like I don't belong here, far from home." He paused again. "I-I don't know. I'm being silly."

Tears start to well up in Raf’s eyes. “I want my parents.” He whispered, tears running down his face. “I wish I could see my parents!” Was he jealous of Eyros? Yes. At least he had someone to take care of him.

Raf hiccoughed. “NO!” He shouted frantically. “You are NOT making any more sacrifices, mister! Not while I’m here! I can’t have you keep doing these things.” The tears came quicker and he was shaking.

Raf sniffed, whimpering. “I don’t want to anymore.. not if it would cost you something great— like your life.” He laid his head on Eyros chest. “You’ll be my new family now.. and I’ll find peace in knowing they’re probably happy, right.” He giggled sadly. “But I envy your relationship with your parental guardian. It’s not fair… that I got stuck with the bat shit crazy one.”

Raf titled his head, staring at Eyros with a very concerned look. “What are you suggesting? Wouldn’t that be a little weird? And aren’t we already technically married?” He didn’t understand and nestled his head into Raf’s chest. “I just— don’t want to see my aunt ever again. Never.”

“Good.” He clung to Eyros. “Aren’t I already an addition to the family? I am your mate after all. Does there need to be some big ceremony before I’m part of the family? Like humans and their silly weddings.”
