I won't get too into it unless I need to, but in my universe there are these people who can travel through different worlds (not really dimensions or universes, but like I said I won't get much into it). The problem is, I can't really figure out how they would do that. I'm sort of thinking that they would use something either technological or magical (I posted this in the technology forum too if it sounds familiar). I guess I just really need help coming up with that kind of concept since I haven't really needed to do that before in writing. I don't really want it to be too similar to Doctor Who or Rick and Morty or some other world-traveling story since this isn't necessarily a Sci-Fi story, but I'm open to advice or suggestions.
Well, you could do something like a portal - something that is ancient that is found in nature and only certain people know about - think druids, could be guarded; you could have those that travel wear a bracelet, jewel type thing that allows them to 'connect' to the other world for passage; a Stargate type thing; creating magic circle - takes time and energy so not the most reliable; Startrek - beam me up Scotty….
In my book, there's a similar situation. most people just use portals connected by this complicated vortex thing, but one of my characters just simply folds reality as he wishes to get where he wants to be. You could do something similar to either of those if you wanted.
