For example, in my story there is a tower and a mountain and due to their unique features they can both count as defining landmarks by the local populace, but both are the sorts of places where people live and work meaning that the "Landmarks" page doesn't give me as much for pointing out notable people who live in these places. The "Locations" page also gives me the Geography option but that could easily be copied over to the "Landmarks" page via custom category.
Landmarks would be more specific, pinpointed locations, such as buildings, shrines, town squares, statues, etc.
If a group of people lives in an area, it becomes a location. A location would probably be more like a section of town or a neighborhood. Then again, location is less specific, and for those of us without premium, that’s what everything is- all towns, states, nations, and businesses. At the end of the day, how you categorize is up to you and what is more convenient for building said places.
Landmarks are usually smaller things that only cover around 3 million square feet at max (that's the empire state building.) Now, the state building could also be classified as a location because people function in it. So I classify a landmark as something memorable and reasonably sized, whereas locations are something larger and general. I don't know if that helps you, I hope it does!
