Just an FYI, I found an awesome website that generates maps and lets you change the climate of areas, build populations, distance estimation, etc. worldspinner.com lets you zoom in/out of areas and be really detailed about the land.
If you are like me, I can't move on in my story until I KNOW what everything looks like and this was a huge help. Its free and you can save up to 5 worlds but for only like 30 days, however you can print it out to make notes on!
