Its a medium sized city with lost of wilderness and buildings at the same time. In the winter it is a gorgeous wonderland and in the summer it is where everyone wants to be. I', thinking it is some place in Canada so if you have any ideas please tell me. It could be a real place in Canada if you want so tell me if it is made up or real with the name. Thank you!
If you're looking for a town name, my first suggestion would be to click through a generator like http://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/town_names.php#.WlAa9dTsGrU or http://abarothsworld.com/Online%20Tools/English%20Place%20Names.php and pick a few that you like, before running them by a friend or relative. (That being said, a few from either list I, personally, would go for are Harwood, Broughton, or Kirthwaite Cross)
I usually look up words in foreign languages that mean something in my own. Example: Foresty town area =Wald (Forest in German).
Silvis, Foretta, Arbryn, Sylvenada… Naming Fantasy locations is really something I enjoy doing. I usually like to start with a European word root and add prefixes or suffixes until it sounds nice.
Dasoton. (Forestton) Poliville. (Townville)
Thasos (greek for forest), Pulchra (latin for beautiful)
@"J.A.K" are you Canadian yourself? Your initial description reminds me of the Muskoka region of Ontario. Lots of tall pines, blue lakes, and rugged rocky cliffs… watch out for moquitoes though…
Its a veritable tourist trap during the summer, and certainly gets enough snow.
If it's in Canada then a silly-sounding name wouldn't be too out of place. Something like Moosefoot or Wakachow would be pretty good.
