"We could," Peter agreed. How would his mother react if she caught the two of them?

“Let’s go!” She went back up to the door, pressing her ear against the wood to listen for anyone.
"Let's take this slowly, okay?" He tried to urge, placing a hand on her back. "They aren't gonna get upset for us going into the garden, so we don't have to sneak,"
“But won’t it look suspicious two kids coming out of the pantry?” She snickered.
He laughed under his breath. "Okay, you got me there."
“Precisely.” Hearing no one, she gingerly turned the doorknob and cracked it open just enough to peer out, “It looks safe.”
He stood behind her, "Then let's make a break for it,"
She opened the door wider to scamper out, hardly waiting for him even though he would know where the gardens were. She headed in the completely wrong direction.
"Eh— Charlotte! Wrong way!" He whisper-yelled.
She skidded to a halt, “Oh,” She giggled and darted back over to him.
He pointed for her, with an amused smile.
She walked towards the direction he point, “You’re coming too, right?”
"Yes, just slower." He held his hands behind him, smiling.
She waited at the entrance for him, “Well, be quicker!” She teased, incessantly giggling.
Thus, of course, he became painfully slower, just to tease.
Charolette groaned, but she still had a wide grin spread across her face. “Hurry up!! We’ll just get caught!”
He let out a giggle, and allowed himself a brisk sprint to her.
Charolette bounced excitedly and headed towards the doors. She pushed them open with a hand, squealing, “To the gardens!!”
He stopped at the doorway, finding himself more inhibitory.
Charolette walked into the hallway, looking side to side to check for anyone walking down either end.
"Come on," He whispered. "Its almost sunset, the garden is a lovely place to watch,"
“I’m so excited!” She giggled, reaching over to grab onto his fore-arm, “You lead!”
He pushed open the door for the two of them.
She walked out alongside with him, still holding onto his arm. She also still had the most huge grin.
"This is so strange to me," Peter laughed quietly.
