Flinching when he was suddenly at her side, not expecting it even though he was careful. Ember pursed her lips together and took a breath, as if about to speak.
"Thank you" was all she could get out at the moment once Chire was done speaking, though for a few seconds she soaced out, admiring the mans appearence. No, she didnt particularily like men, and she was more scared of them than anything. But she could admire if one was blessed with such an appearence.
But she didnt let his attractiveness get in the way of her judgment. He seemed strong, which was to be expected of an Alpha. But unlike hers, he seemed gentle and kind. The warmth basically radiating off of him. The food she ate had gotten her in a better mood already, loving the rice and vegetables. She also ate some of the meat, trying not to seem rude. And it was decently alright. She ended up eating little by little every now and again, her stubborn opinion on meat keeping her from just straight up eating it.
This was probably because this was actually cooked. She hated the smooth, raw texture of raw meat. Not to mention the fat.
Shivers going down her spine as she thought about it, she looked over to the plates on the table before her gaze flickered to Chire by her side.
"Your sister….is she nice?" Ember asked shyly, tucking her hair behind her ear
He nodded with a little smile, always glad to talk about his sister.
“yeah, she is. A bit stubborn and impulsive at times but she means well. She’s probably out now but once she gets back, I’ll ask about the clothes. Maybe you can meet her, that is if you’d like. I’m sure you want to rest.” He said, hyperaware that he now started to ramble.
He glanced down at the nearly full plate of meat and smiled softly.
“you don’t have to eat it if you don’t like it. I’m not offended.” He said, starting to take the plate away.
“I never got your name before.” He noted, settling down on the floor, for now keeping distance from them.
“There’s a guest room and bath if you’d like to shower and rest. If you don’t feel comfortable sleeping here, there’s also a few dens near here a well.” He said, nodding to the door.
(Omg i totally thought i replied! Im so sorry!)
It would be nice to meet another female that seemed nice. But she would definitely have to see for herself. The girls in her pack was always a bit aggressive.
Only nodding to his words about his sister, nervous about the whole thing.
Looking up to him as he took the plates, Ember opened her mouth to speak, but didnt. Instead she only stood and took one of the other plates, trying to help.
"Im Ember…Grace. Just call me Ember…" she says as she set the dishes down in the kitchen.
Once he mentioned the bath, she smiled. "That sounds nice.."
(Sorry its short and weird)
(No it’s alright! Glad to see you’re back!)
“Well it’s nice to meet you Ember, I only wish that it could have been under better circumstances.” He replied, standing to put the remaining dinner in the fridge and to finish up washing the rest of the dishes.
“Go ahead, it’ll be upstairs, first door to your right. The guest bedroom is the one next to that. If Val doesn’t come back by the time you’re done, I’ll leave some of my clothes out on the bed, though they might be a bit big. Let me know if you need anything else.” He said with a small smile.
He continued to wash the dishes, seemingly calm but his mind was racing. He planned to take a small patrol out once he had made sure all the pack and Ember was safe. Along with the small patrol, he’d track down the hunters and make sure they’d never come back. Though he hated to use violence and tried his best to avoid it, he knew not everything in life could be resolved with peaceful words, especially when hunters were involved. To them, anything mildly different to their own kind was thought of as a monster.
Ember appreciated the soft tone to his voice and his kindness towards her, despite her being from a different pack. Though she was still a bit confused and lost. Trying to get a grip on reality. Ever since she lost consciousness everything had felt like a dream.
Maybe a nice warm bath would help her feel more alive and awake.
“Thank you” she nodded before taking his directions, mentally noting them in her mind and following them.
Opening the door to the bathroom, she looked down at herself then to the mirror, putting her hands on either side of her cold cheeks. She hated the cold.
“Golly, i look horrid” she says in exasperation and a small sigh before dropping the small bit of clothing on her and running warm water and watching it slowly fill up the tub.
After a good bit, she dipped herself slowly in the water, letting the hot water burn just a little bit to soothe her coldness. The water surrounding her was relaxing as she sunk farther down, letting her hair float around her and her chin dip into it before looking up to the ceiling and closing her eyes.
Letting her gaurd down, as a bad habit she did a little too much. Trusting people too often and too easily was a big flaw she desperately needed to work on.
But now wasnt the time. Or at least she didnt think so.
Ember decided to let whoever these wolves are to take care of her for a little bit. This was too nice to leave
Chire spent the rest of the day tidying up the place and finding extra blankets from the closet. He managed to call Aisha and spoke with her for a few moments, requesting that she come to the house once she’s was free so she’s could check Ember over. He gratefully thanked her and set the phone down, his nerves still on edge. On one hand, he wanted to take care if the girl, he wanted to make sure she was safe and well. On the other hand, the longer he stayed, the bigger Thebes chance the hunters would venture deeper into the pack territory. He glanced up when he heard the door open, barely managing a yelp when a dozen or so puppies came barreling now into the room. Val came right behind him, looking as if she hadn’t picked a fight with a rat and then lost.
Chire laughed softly and hugged husband little sister. “Thought you were out with a friend?” He asked innocently, glancing around as the puppies lol settle down in the living room.
“I was, til these little fluff balls found us. I’m assuming Jess and Lila were playing a game and they’ve ran off.”
Chire nodded and laughed again, scooping up a tiny white pup so she’s wouldn’t get trampled by the older ones.
Val let out a growled and turned in a small cirlce, suddenly catching a scent. The pups stilled and glanced around as well, a few whining at the tension in the air. “Chire, there’s someone else here.” She whispered.
Chire nodded “yes, there’s is. You can relax. She was attacked by a few hunters-“
“Hunters?!”
Chire gave a glare before continuing “yes, hunters. Their scent was found near the river after we found a She-wolf. She was gravely injured. I took her here to recover.” He explained, scooting a few puppies over on the couch do he could sit.
Val remained standing and glare abover to The second floor before softening her features. “Is she alright?” She asked softly
Chire nodded, relieved that his sister was more concerned than hostile.
“I called Aisha over to check on her later But first now she seems alright. She’s in the shower now. Would you mind If she borrowed some clothes?”
Val shook her head and jumped up, “course not! I’ll see if I can find any that fit!” She raced off to her room, followed by a few pups. Chire stayed in the living room with the rest of them. “Guess I’m a babysitter now, huh?” He laughed softly and shifted, his black coat a stark contrast to the rest of the pups.
Sinking underneath the soft surface of the water as it began to cool down. The steam settling on the clear mirrors and her golden hair floating around her.
The atmosphere was rather soothing, but the cool water was a sign she should probably start getting out.
Though only sinking deeper in the water, trying to forget about the flashbacks that kept flooding her mind.
Her heart beating in her head causing a slight migraine, the sounds of puppies downstairs didnt help but she didnt mind too much. Not ever being one to complain about anything, she didn’t even get irritated in the least.
Sitting up and letting the water drip from her hair onto her back and into the water as she stood.
Looking over to the blue towel that sat on the counter, she reached for it, trying not to get water on the floor. Stretching the wound on her side, she winced in pain and fell out of the tub and onto the floor with a loud THUD, followed by a panicked squeal.
Lifting her head up from the now wet floor, her hair in her face and the towel she was reaching floor fell on her from the counter.
“Shucks” she whined before standing and straightening the shower curtain.
Hopefully nobody heard that loud thud though they definitely did. Thankfully nothing broke.
Drying her hair off and wrapping it in the towel, Ember looked around in confusion, swearing that she had clothes. Though she definitely didnt and she just forgot.
Cracking open the door slowly, hiding herself behind the door before peeking her head out into the hall.
(Sorry my writings sloppy today, i haven’t been feeling the greatest)
(It’s alright! I hope you feel better soon!)
Chire snapped his head up at the sound and slowly shifted up, trying his best not to disturb the sleeping pups. He shifted back to husband human form and climbed the stairs leading up to the second floor. “Ember, you okay?” He called as he reached the top floor.
Val came out of her room with a stack of clothes. She glanced worriedly at the bathroom door, seeing that Ember had poked her head out. She smiled softly and waved “hi! I’m Valerie. Chire’s sister. I brought some clothes for you. Most just pjs now.” She said, slowly stepping closer. “I can help you if you don’t want to stretch your wound too much.” She offered. Val had helped plenty of puppies dress and everything so she didn’t really mind. She passed Chire the clothes gestured for Ember to go back inside.
(Thank you lol. My family of ten has come down with corona (luckily I haven’t) but its been weird lol)
“Y-yeah I’m fine….i just slipped.” She said to Chire with a nod, putting her hand lightly on one of the wounds on her side. The wound hadnt scabbed over quite yet but the blood had started to clot, so that was a good thing at least.
Embers eyes followed Chires soft movements before quickly snapping to the girl. Moving back a tiny bit, she still had her head out of the door looking at her. She was gorgeous, there was no doubting that.
“Thank you. Ill be fine, i dont need help. But i appreciate it” she said softly.
The fact that they were so nice to her confused the heck out of her, but she still appreciated it. It was different but nice.
(Oh no! I hope your family are all alright and get through this! Glad you’re safe!)
Val’s happy demeanor dropped a bit but she nodded and gave Ember another smile. “Of course, it was great meeting you Ember, I wish it was under better circumstances.” She said, waving as she headed back downstairs to take care of the puppies.
Chire smiled softly and shook his head slightly as his sister left. “She’s always so excited to have guests. Sorry if she spooked you a bit.she doesn’t have many female friends in Thebes pack other than the mothers here and the younger pups.” He explained, passing Ember the stack of clothes Val had gathered while keeping his eyes trained down. “You’re sure you’re alright?” He asked once again, concern flashing in his eyes as he met her gaze once he hadn’t backed up to the hallway. “Don’t hesitate to ask either of us. When you’re ready, we’ll be down stairs. Aisha’s should be here soon to check on the wounds.” He said softly, giving her a small smile before leaving to join Val and the pups down stairs
“Th-thank you. It was nice meeting you too” she nodded.
“She…seems nice. I just wasnt expecting it” she says, blowing her wet, coily hair out of her face. Ember felt bad about all of this, but the way her positive energy kind of dropped. Ember knew it was because of her, but there was nothing she could do about it now except for being as nice as possible.
“Okay…thank you” she says yet again, not thinking she could say thank you enough. What they were doing for her was so kind and amazing. She expected to be left alone for dead. To bleed out and hung on a hunters wall. But she was alive and…decently well..considering.
Closing the door, offering Chire a small and grateful smile before doing so, she set the stack of clothes on the counter and goes through them, keeping them decently folded.
(I hope you dont mind me assuming what clothes are in the pile. You said pjs so thats kinda what I’m going off of)
She pulled out a silky pink two piece pajama set (like this https://pin.it/3BlCETl)
Smiling at how cute it was, she slipped it on and rubbed the sides of her arms as if hugging herself. They were so comfy.
She made sure it wasnt something too tight around her wound on her side and not itchy or anything.
Once her hair wasnt dripping all over the place and she cleaned up the water she accidentally spilled from the tub when she fell, she opened the door and stepped out.
Her skin was a little dirty from running before the bath, so she looked slightly tan. But all cleaned up, her skin was soft looking and pale, or what she would like to call; porcelain.
Quietly stepping down the steps, she peeked her head around the corner to Chire and Val. “H-Hey?” She says, a small voice crack sounding more like a pitiful squeak than anything
Val had shifted into a wolf and was playing with the puppies in the living room, tumbling around with them and flicking her tailback and forth as they chased it. Chire was talking with a woman in the doorway, though his back could still be seen from the stairs, the small . They all glanced up when Ember came down the stairs, including the pups. Chire smiled softly and walked over, offering his hand, seeing that she was still shakey. The other woman came over and smiled softly. She was pretty, dark skin with loose curls.
“So you’re ember, Alpha told me about what happened. I’m sorry that had to happen to you. No wolf deserves that.” She said. “Would it be alright if I checked you over? Just in case you have any major injuries?” She asked softly.
The pups sat in the living room, all curious about the girl, some daring to scoot forward and sniff the area around Chire and Ember.
Tucking a wet curl behind her ear, she stepped down the final step with a deep breath in.
Her lungs still tense and her throat felt like there was a soft rock in it, slowly falling down and blocking her airway. But she didnt let that show on the outside. Ember didnt let her nervousness get the best of her.
Looking around the living room, she let out a soft smile at Val and the pups before turning to Chire and the other woman. She was beautiful and seemed really sweet.
Ember didnt see why she couldn’t look over her.
So with a nod and a small smile, she held out her hand to shake.
“Of course you can. And thank you. What would your name be?” She asked, trying not to make it known she was nervous. She was sure Chire told her the she wolfs name before she came, but her memory wasnt the greatest at the moment.
Aisha smiled softly and shook Embers hand a few times. “My name is Aisha. And thank you, not many people are too trust of me at first.” She said, glancing down at the pups, who had backed away a bit. A few shifted into young children, some with bandaids. One child poured and crossed his arms. “You poked me!” He cried out, shifting back and rushing off to hide behind Val. Chire and Aisha laughed, Aisha rolling her eyes and turning back to Ember. “It was time for their flu shots this year, they were all a bit mad at me.”
She pulled away from the group for a moment and brought a bag over, as well as tied her hair back.
“Alright, me and Ember will head upstairs too the check up and look over the woulds. Would you prefer Chire there?” She asked Ember. “I don’t normally allow males in the same room when doing this sort of procedure with female patients so he’d most likely stay outside but since he’s the one you seem to know here the most and you are staying in his home in case anything happened, it’d be alright if he came.”
