"Oh, it'll be fine!" Kati squealed. She walked over, grabbed Nate's arm and pulled him towards the door. She'd forgotten her keys, so she simply knocked on the door. "Mum! Dad! It's me! Kati!"

Of course, Jackie was the closest one to the door, so he went downstairs to grab it after calling he'd get it. He opened the door and didn't really look at them, just sighed.
"Don't forget your keys, Kati." He was in an unusually bad mood, but he would brighten up again. He went back up to the kitchen.
Kati stuck her tongue out behind Jackie's back, knowing he probably wouldn't see it. She pulled Nate from outside and into the front area, closing the door behind her. "That's just my dumb brother Jackie. Don't worry about him."
Jackie sat back up onto the counter, watching the water. In his humble opinion, it'd be better to watch the little bubbles float up to the top then even begin to think about listening to Kati. It was versus losing brain cells and keeping them.
Nate rolled his eyes. Kati was so much of a suck-up. He hated it. He was only dating her because everyone wanted him to, not because he liked her. She had the wrong type of parts.
Jackie considered getting his phone and earbuds and listening to music, but that would be rude. There was a chance– a slim one– that her boyfriend was actually a decent guy. But band students and football players didn't really get along. So he wasn't expecting it. Maybe he'd be rude on purpose. No… no that's too rude.
"I'm gonna go and find my parents," Kati giggled, then walked off.
"Yeah. Sure. Just leave me here." Nate sighed heavily. "I'll find the kitchen, I guess." He walked off, smelling food cooking. This must be the way to the kitchen, I smell food.
Jackie plopped some of the ramen packs into the water once it boiled, waving his legs around idly and humming softly. He grabbed a fork and held the noodles underwater, waiting for them to cook as he got out a bowl and a strainer.
The house didn't seem big from the outside, but on the inside it was deceivingly huge. He walked into the kitchen, the smell of ramen drifting towards him and filling his nostrils.
Jackie strained the ramen once it was to how he liked it, and he plopped it back into the pot with a bit of water. He heard someone enter the kitchen and glanced behind him, noticing it was that football-boyfriend guy.
"Hey, there, you want some ramen?" He looked back down at the pot, deciding not to make too big of a deal about him but still be nice.
"No, I'm not that hungry," Nate replied. "I just came in to grab a drink of sorts. Is this the fridge?" He didn't wait for an answer.
Jackie opened his mouth to respond, only to get interrupted by the noise of the refrigerator opening. Good god. Do it yourself, this whole place might as well be yours. He shook his head a little, expelling the negative thoughts.
Nate's eyes surveyed the fridge, taking in what was in stock. There was juice, milk, beer, soft drink, a half-empty bottle of wine….and water. He opted for the water.
Jackie turned heel and walked outside to the porch, shutting the door and plopping down in one of the chairs with his ramen, sighing. He inhaled deeply before starting on his noodles, humming softly.
