Lani glided in, wearing her usual pink victorian dress. The little shop on the corner of the block was dusty and dark, but Lani didn't mind. She peered curiously at the rocks and other curiosities lining the shelves, before looking to the front at the little jars of brightly colored pastel taffies. Lani gently lifted the hem of her long skirt, moving again back to a curious geode she had seen earlier. She gently pulled a gloved hand up and tucked some of her pink hair back into her elegant Edwardian bun. She was quite out of place in the modern day and age, but Lani didn't mind. She did what made her happy, and dressing like this made her happy.

Marlowe had made herself comfortable behind the counter of the store. Not that many people came to the shop, and since her Aunt Ibiza would be stuck in bed rest for a while and her Uncle Sterling was busy taking care of her, Marlowe was stuck with the fun job of watching the store. But since the store was always practically empty, except for the Lolita doll here and there, or a person needing to use the bathroom, she could pretty much do as she pleased. Which really just meant staying hidden behind a pile of books and reading throughout the day, which in her opinion was a pretty sweet deal. She watched a strangely dressed woman walk into the shop and begin to scan the things, and Marlowe just shrugged pulling her bright red hair back into a ponytail and going back to her book. She wasn't in the mood for a conversation with anyone at the moment, and especially not with a woman as crazily -She does have a nice outfit though. . .- dressed as the one who had just come into the shop.

Lani eventually picked up a small stone carving, one in the likeness of Aphrodite. She scanned it, turning it over carefully in her gloved hands, looking for a price tag but not finding one. She frowned slightly, her brow crinkling and a few pink hairs coming loose from her bun and falling in her face. Lani sighed softly, not wanting to interact with anyone, then glided up to the front desk and set the statue down. "Excuse me?" she asked softly, her voice light, high, and airy. "Would you happen to know how much this costs?" Lani fiddled gently with the ends of her white gloves, an old nervous habit of hers. People tended to make her nervous.

Marlowe glanced up from her book when she heard someone - well the only other person in the shop- address her. She quickly glanced down at the figurine and tried to rack her mind for what he aunt had told her about the shop, "I think," she began slowly, trying to make sure she got the information right, "That that's about, fifteen dollars?" She said, cocking her head slightly, as if that would help her get the price right. Had this been a normal store, she would have been able to just check a catalog or a website or something, but this sadly wasn't that type of store. Most of the things sold here were antiques or things of that nature, and her aunt would just decide on the price of things however she decided. Which meant that that figurine could cost any where from a dollar to almost two hundred, although Marlowe was quite sure nothing would ever cost that much here, "But, if you'd like, and since you've been my only customer here today, I'll give it to you for. . .twelve fifty." She added quickly, smiling up at the girl.

Lani smiled kindly at the other person, tucking a bit of her hair back into its bun again. "I'm extremely grateful," she smiled softly, pulling out a little coin purse from the pocket in her dress. As she ruffled through the little thing, Lani spoke again. "Thank you for the offer. Generally, people tend to raise the price when they see me," she joked gently, placing the money on the counter. Lani tucked the little purse away again, another bill folded into her palm, one that Marlowe couldn't see. She clasped her hands together properly, nodding to the little stone statue. "I was surpised to find something like this around here. It's a stautue of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. She's said to bring good luck, and magic if you're lucky," Lani explained softly, looking at the object in wonder. She shook her head suddenly, a few pieces of hair falling down again. "Well, that is, if you believe in that sort of thing. Anyhow, she was the protector of women, if I remember correctly." Lani did need protection. Because of the…. well, she didn't want to think about that right now.

Marlowe giggled a little bit at the joke and began to wrap the figure in a paper to protect it, at least that was one of the rules her aunt had given her. "We carry a bunch of different things around here, I wouldn't particularly say that we're a thrift shop or an antique shop or something, we just really have one of a kind items or something. If that even makes sense, my Aunt Ibiza, would be able to tell you more about this stuff, but she's not feeling the greatest.. . ." Marlowe had to catch herself from telling too much about her personally life to a total stranger, "Well, uhm I do hope you enjoy that figurine. It's just been sitting here for a while, not that many people come to begin with, so I didn't expect anyone to purchase it. Nobody really purchases anything from here to begin with, but uhm. . ." Again, you're talking too much, just let her be."Well, uhm thank you for shopping here." She said awwardly handing her the parcel and the change that she was due.

"Thank you," Lani smiled, taking the parcel from Marlowe. She flushed slightly, a grin still on her face. "I'm Lani, by the way." She didn't really meet a lot of people her age who would actually speak to her, so this was at least an opportunity to make a friend. Lani slipped the hidden bill and her change into the tip jar, leaving $100.46 in the little jar. She quickly dug into her pocket and pulled out a slip of white paper, one with her phone number on it. She slid it onto the counter, smiling at Marlowe. Lani turned to go, still holding the package, and tucked her hair back into its bun again. "Call me sometime! We can go out to coffee, or something," she smiled over her shoulder, then glided out of the shop. She was gone, out of sight within a few moments.
