Scifi with a side of horror themes! It’s not straight up horror, but..

When the rain stops
Be careful.
Watch out for footprints, especially if they’re not human.
Stay away from dark places, or places with lots of noise.
Stay away from bodies of water, especially if you notice the water is flat.
Try to be in a city by night.
However,
Daytime is just as dangerous.
It is much easier to find your way back during daytime.
Follow the signs,
Know them all.
Listen to your mind.
When the rain stops,
Be careful.

Wow Mojack!! It’s the first time in 3 billion years you’ve chosen to RP as a fully human character, great achievement!
Yeah, but this one still has monsters in it.

A basic summary of the plot is that we’re both humans. We’re in some forest, valley looking area; basically not many cities. The technology is still somewhat advanced, just more limited in terms of areas you can find it (so if you were to have a bike you probably got it from a city or something like that.)
Following the poem thing I wrote above, the weather is..well, raining. It always rains, never does damage in terms of flooding. It rains often, that humans often wear or bring gear suitable for traversing the terrain. And also providing protection from the rain. I’ll explain our types of rain below (oh boy! Reading! Hopefully no one minds, but I need to share the building I’ve done on this world, and valuable information as well.)
Most people have learned that when the rain stops, it’s not good. When the rain stops, that means either a pack of the ‘creatures’ is nearby, or just one is near you. It’s recommended to just stay still, cover yourself if possible, and be quiet.

So we’re just two humans in a valley. Out there for whatever reason (maybe we’re hunting for our cities, looking for something, or just travelling), we come across each other somehow. And then our main goal here is - well, survive. And get along. Both are preferable, and probably contribute to our survival chance.

With that being said, here are the rules.

Rules

  1. Humans only, as I mentioned in our summary. And no magic.
  2. This takes place in a somewhat modern setting. Alternate universe at the most, and maybe a bit in the future. Other than that? It’s not medieval.
  3. Cussing, I’ll allow it. I ask no slurs though.
  4. I would prefer proper grammar, if possible.
  5. Humour may occur in this RP, but generally, it will be a more..mature RP. We’ll abide by all rules, but keep that in mind.
  6. Blood may be present. Not major gore. But some blood, so also keep that in mind. Basically, like all my other RPs; no essays or paragraphs of just pure gore.
  7. If you have any ideas, please ask!
  8. No one liners, I find them really hard to respond to.
  9. Have any questions? Do not be afraid to ask. some people get scared for some reason to ask me sometimes and it’s weird because I’m the least threatening person ever.. so don’t be afraid to ask!
  10. This list may change.

TEMPLATE
I notice that some people tend to keep the information in the parentheses that I have in my templates sometimes. I’d recommend deleting them, as they’re just to explain in extra.

Name:
Aliases: (nicknames, any titles, etc. Or none.)
Gender:
Age: (I ask that you are above 18, but younger than 40 in terms of age limit.)
Sexuality:
Personality:
Looks:
Gear: (doesn’t have to be detailed. Do they have any weapons? Climbing gear? Umbrella? We still use bullets in this timeline, so do keep that in mind if you have any weapons. And make it realistic. We’re humans. We get tired when carrying large things.)
Backstory: (family, if they’re alive, what they’re doing out in the wilderness, etc etc. Doesn’t have to be extremely long!)
Other: (anything else goes here)

Words of Information
Here’s the fun part I told you about earlier! This just serves as a basis to explain the types of rain and such.

The Rain
It never stops. It only stops when danger is near. The rain started when they came, and since then, it’s never ceased. People still wonder if it’ll stop for good. And no one knows the answer to it. There are several types of rain.
Normal rain is your typical, clear cool rain. It isn’t damaging or anything, and is safe to drink.
Red rain is the rarest type of rain. It is described as being bitter, and while no negative short term effects are observed, you probably shouldn’t be drinking something that looks like blood. Red rain is unknown for why it occurs.
Black rain usually means a ‘big one’ is near. Big one referring to the creatures. Creatures are typically only 14 feet tall, but big ones can tower over the normal creatures with ease. Unlike normal creatures, the rain does not stop, only changing colours. The warning is also different, but it isn’t taught commonly.. black rain is NOT safe to drink.

The Creatures are creatures often invisible but capable of interacting with our world. They look for things that move or make plenty of noise. It is unknown of what they look like. But it is said it is possible to see one in a dream, if you are asleep while one is near you. It is also possible to die in your dream. What an unlucky fate.

Rain-Stop The word for whenever rain..stops. It’s a basic word, sometimes shortened to RS or RAS in writing, sometimes speaking as well.

Anyways that was long. But feel free to join, first come first serve.

Here’s my character;

Name: Mell Bell
Aliases: Mel (can be spelt with two L’s or just one), MB, Jive Turkey (an unreliable person), City hopper (he goes from city to city for a big reason)
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Sexuality: romantically straight; asexual.

Personality: Mell is somewhat extroverted, often intrusive to the point where it’s annoying. He’s retained the ability to stay relaxed in most situations, and seems to know a fair amount of the Creatures. Despite this, like most living beings, even Mell has a fear of the Creatures within good reason.
Mell is a city hopper, meaning he doesn’t live in one city. He goes from place to place, basically. This is probably because he tends to expose the secrets of others. Those that unfortunately know Mell should probably not share anything important with him.
Despite this, Mell has no intentions to harm (yet, not in this RP at least)
He will help people if he deems fit and is..somewhat understanding, despite his childish nature. His good knowledge of the lands can prove to be helpful. He’s protective over his property, however (aka anything he owns, like his bag) and is hesitant to physical contact for whatever reason.

Looks: Most of Mell’s physical appearance is unknown. He’s around 6’2, average weight. Mell wears good rain protection; a hood, and something to cover his entire face, which he rarely reveals. It’s a lot harder to portray how Mell is feeling due to that, and even harder to portray his emotions. His jacket is long, going down slightly below the knees. It’s a dark, navy blue. His boots are more of a black, as the same for his gloves and pants.

Gear: Backpack, equipped with a digital map of the area and a camera. Occasionally stuff tends to switch up, sometimes letters are in there, other times there’s some questionable items. He does have a handgun, but keeps it hidden. Breathing gear for high altitudes. And climbing gear as well.
Backstory: Most of Mel’s extensive family remains unknown. Hell, even the main family. Mel was raised with 7 siblings and only his step parents left to him. He lived through the rains and grew up in them. He didn’t get to live life as a child very often, and seeked to impress his parents when possible. And yet, their impression always seemed false.
So when ‘The Night’ occurred, Mel took his leave. Mel doesn’t really talk about ‘The Night,’ or what happened to his remaining family.
Mel became a city hopper quickly after getting into some trouble, which he dealt with by fleeing to the wilderness at first (his pursuers were killed, Mel was almost, but survived. He probably retained some scars from that experience.) but at the time he wasn’t as knowledgeable as he was back then so it was risky. Mel kept on travelling, so learning was needed. And that’s what he did. He ratted people out for his own benefit, sold information, stole sometimes; Mel wasn’t liked in a lot of places. He was liked by the people he sold to, however..
Mel doesn’t do that as much anymore. He has a cleaner..recent record, but if you go back a bit, I’m sure you’ll find all of the terrible acts Mel has committed.
Mel claims to have seen one of the creatures outside of a dream. But as far as we’re aware, that’s..impossible. Knowing Mel, he’s probably lying as well.
Other: none as of now

@CasiCasino group

(Hello! I kinda came across this while browsing through ‘cause no one’s online and found this quite interesting. I’ve got to ask three things though)
(First thing, most obvious thing to ask first, may I join? XD)
(Second thing, would it be alright if I make mistakes when it comes to grammar? Just some. English isn’t my first language so I apologize, heheh)
(Third thing, would you like a sample of what my writing is like? That way you can get an idea of how I usually… uhm, torture my characters since we’ve never really had a conversation before)
(That’s it, thanks!)

@Mojack group

((You may! And that’s fine it’s not your first language; I can deal with grammar mistakes lol. And sure, a sample would be nice!))

@CasiCasino group

(Here’s from a fantasy afterlife kind of story)

Arriving at the shore, the sight was… terrifying. Two figures stood in the middle of all the chaos that had happened. The children were laid motionless in the coursing river which had turned crimson due to the blood that stained it. The two figures both had sets of teeth that took up a majority of their face, they did not have noses, eyes, or any other facial features. What they had though, were their ears and their horrifying sets of teeth which were bloodstained.

The sixth judge’s reaction was not much to be talked about as he just clenched his fist and had quite an angry expression… but the eighth’s was very much worth mentioning.

Dushi had smoke coming out of his mouth when he closed it, his eyes had turned bloodshot red with only glimpses of purple remaining which was accompanied by the tears that were flowing down his cheeks, his veins were denser than usual and were shown through his skin.

@Mojack group

((I like it, it’s quite interesting as well! Thank you for the writing sample; you can feel free to also fill out the temp whenever. And feel free to ask any questions as well.))

Name: Sorsha Avian
Aliases: Sor, Night Owl, “Mountainside Princess”
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Sexuality: Bi-romantic, bisexual

Personality: Sorsha is a brave woman for her age. She likes to live the thrilling life, enjoy taking risks if they aren’t extremely critical to her wellbeing and all in all an outgoing person. She’s also quite stubborn for that matter. She is, though, a bit shy when it comes to relationships or friendships. She isn’t one to show her soft side and would hit or show some kinds of unsatisfied expressions to the person she’s with when she’s embarrassed (basically, a Tsundere).

Looks: Sorsha has chest length brown hair which she would usually tie up to a ponytail. She wears a cap with the ponytail stick out and strands covering the front. She’s 5’4” with quite big opal-colored eyes. She usually wears a black coat which is a bit oversized, meaning its sleeves are longer than her wrists and that they cover her hands almost completely. She also wears dark blue, almost navy, training pants and similar colored boots. Due to her eyesight problems, she wears silver edged, rectangular eyeglasses all the time and occasionally, she would wear a mask to cover her face though most of the time she’s too stubborn to do so.

Gear: A blue backpack filled with a foldable, clear umbrella, a small beacon which can be used in case of danger, a pistol which is stored deep inside her backpack along with some magazines, a spare pair of eyeglasses, a notebook paired with a pen, and a tactical knife which is cased.

Backstory: Sorsha came from the mountains. Most of her life was climbing and failing and repeating until she became the community’s best climber and gained the title of “Mountainside Princess” seven years after training.
Later than year though, her parents died of an unknown cause. The community thought of it to be related to The Creatures but she didn’t know what they were…
Until two years passed (the present year), when she dug through her father’s diary and found out some information about them.
She was broken then, but quickly healed. Being her, she couldn’t just stay still.
A lot of people would say she’s stupid, maybe even suicidal for wanting to seek out and “research” about The Creatures but of course, that did not stop her…

Other: Nothing… yet

(Looks good?)

@Mojack group

Rain constantly fell in an even pace. It wasn’t hard or anything like that, but it wasn’t a drizzle, either. Just average rain. Mell glanced up, rain hitting his helmet and falling down his field of view slightly. The sun was visible by a glow through the grey clouds that almost always seemed to be there. To someone 50 years ago, like Mell learned in the history books - 50 years ago, there was a variety of weather. It told of lands of snow, endless fields of water and all sorts of things. Mell couldn’t imagine an endless field of water, an ocean.

It would be easy to tell if a Creature was around on the ocean. Could they swim, he wondered? Or did they fly? Perhaps they just walked on the water?

Mell looked ahead and continued to walk, boots digging into the mud. He was currently in the wilderness. While you could come across other life in the wilderness, it was rare. And by other life, he meant humans. You were more likely to find them closer to the cities, an arguable patch of land that was either semi wilderness, or it belonged to the city it was closest to. You could find plenty of people there, farming, leaving or going by.

He heard the movement of a stream nearby and did not head towards it, continuing ahead in the direction he was headed. The surrounding terrain was somewhat mountainous, it was not high altitude but did require you to get your hands dirty to get up to. Eventually, Mell came across a cabin. The cabin was not a recent one. It was hard to notice. He was surprised he had noticed it.

The cabin was slightly overgrown with plants. Trees were thicker in this part of the woods, there wasn’t much light - if any, of course. They also provided shelter from the rain, allowing Mell a moment to slump against one of the trees and take a breather. Climbing continuously and walking-for-god-knows-how-long was tiring. He’d just take a 5 minute break, then walk the rest of this mountain, climb down, and get to the city across. That’s all Mell wanted.

And hopefully, before the next Rain-Stop.

@CasiCasino group

The pouring rain blocked the view of the traveler, she couldn’t see pass a certain radius of view.
Along the way, she’d been rushing through the muddy forest, the rocky mountain, the coursing bodies of water, and most importantly, the chilly plains across the city.

The traveler, though, saw a foundation in the distant and walked towards it, wanting a good rest for ten minutes or so. Upon reaching the cabin, she opened the door and almost immediately stared at the person who was already in the place. She blinked a bit, but did not step out of the cabin.

@Mojack group

Mell has been slightly closing his eyes when he quickly noticed that someone else had came along. Mell didn’t seem fazed, though. Instead, he slowly stood up, keeping in his current place, before giving a nod of greeting. “Ah.” He only said at first.

A few seconds passed before he said, “Hello.”

@CasiCasino group

The female traveler snapped out of whatever was keeping her subconscious when the man spoke up.
“Uh… hello to you as well” the female traveler said soon after.
“Do you mind if I stay here for a bit…?” The female asked, lowering their mask.

(OK two things. One: this is a pretty cool premise, not gonna lie. Two: you should probably close this. Says it is still open (no, I'm not looking to join, normally when it still says open but there's like over 10 posts it's normally taken). Just wanted to let you know. :)

@Mojack group

((I normally close them as soon as someone says they’ll join so it was weird that I didn’t close it lol. Thanks for pointing that out though, chances are I would not have seen it until days later))

Deleted user

(it's all good. And again, really cool premise. I never would have thought of it.)
