(What’s your idea?)
Nora screwed her eyes shut as tight as she possibly could. Suddenly, she’s right back where she was several years ago. A group of guys are beating the utter shit out of her in an alleyway. All for one little stolen wallet. “Get off of me!” She punched and kicked and fought back to the best of her abilities. One kick to the head later and she was unconscious. When she woke up she was in the hospital. A couple of broken ribs, a few stab wounds, and a shattered knee cap. The memory was fuzzy but the pain was real. Once more, she was assaulted by flashes. This time she was nine months pregnant and all alone in a hospital room. Screams filled the air as she raised hell for the doctors. Everything was chaotic and she was terrified. She hit her broken leg as hard as she could to get away from that. She recoiled from the pain. Her breathing was rapid and broken but anything was better than that.
(Rowan slowly gets her memory back while Nora gets tortured. As she gets her memory back she starts formulating a plan to get them out and the doctor low key helps a little. By the time Rowan gets to Nora’s cell to break her out Nora’s had so many visions of Rowan that she doesn’t believe she’s actually there. She ends up convincing Nora to come with her and they break out. Nora could be super sick though and kinda on the brink of death so we could have Rowan help her and nurse her back to health. What do you think?)
Rowan struggled to remember beating up eight guards. A pipe . . . where had she gotten a pipe? She tried to think back. She remembered chains . . . and a safety pin. Had she picked the lock to her chains and found a pipe? And then beat up eight guards? Why would she do that?
(That sounds perfect! I think it'll be super sweet to have Rowan nurse Nora back to health and it would be fun for me to write her loosing her mind because she thinks that she's still hallucinating.)
Nora stared up at the ceiling and kept her thumb pressed against the dark bruise that lined her leg. She was probably going to die in this cell. It might take weeks or months or even years but she doubted that she would actually get out. She lowered her standards. She would focus solely on taking out as many of these assholes as she could be she died.
Now Rowan had something to think about. She wasn’t in a fog and she had a hint. And she didn’t believe what the doctor had said about Nora being her sister. She didn’t even believe that she had a sister. Or if she did she wasn’t important enough to dream about.
Rowan has closed her eyes and had started to drift off. “ . . . Don’t try and fight it, Bottom. . . . Look at that sweet smile. How could anyone resist such a thing? . . . “
Rowan gasped. That voice. She knew that voice. She closed her eyes and tried desperately to relax, as if by relaxing again the voice would come back to her. Nothing happened. The memory was gonna just as quick as it had come. She didn’t even remember what the voice had said anymore.
"Stop singing, you goddamn son of a bitch!" Nora screamed at the top of her lungs when that annoying man from earlier starts running his mouth again. She was going to go crazy between the visions and the damn singing. Punching her leg again, she gasped. The pain wasn't stopping the visions anymore.
Beatings, death, pregnancy, gangs, car crashes, and everything else deemed horrible ran rampant through her brain. The next several hours consisted of her sobbing and screaming for people not to touch her or to get off of her or to take that baby away or just general screams of horror.
Blood dripped down from various parts of her body and pooled out underneath her. She had scratched herself harder than expected and was now suffering the consequences.
Trying to sleep didn't help. It didn't work if she tried. In the haze between waking and sleeping, she had a thought. Rowan repeated it over and over in her mind, comminting it to memory. She didn't know what it meant, but it was important.
The Lieutenant walked down the hallway again. A guard trailed behind him pushing a cart with trays. He pushed a tray into each person's cell. The Lieutenant stopped outside of Nora's cell. "Ooh, that looks like it hurts." The guard pushed a tray of grey mush into Nora's cell, taking advantage of the fact that she was on the floor. "Have they faded yet?"
"The only thing that hurts is the headache I get when I hear your annoying voice." Nora grabbed a fistful of mush and flung it at the man. Satisfied that the visions had slowed down enough for her to do that, she closed her eyes and leaned against the wall. "Scram."
It wasn't much but it was all she could do to piss him off. Her leg and the scratches hurt like hell but she wouldn't dare ask for any medical assistance. They wouldn't give it to her anyways.
"Wow, I'm hurt. Nora, Nora, Nora. I'll do you a favor. That's the only food you'll get all week. So I suggest not wasting it." He smiled and walked away. Enjoy."
The doctor was back. "Is her leg okay? Did you heal it or help her or something?" Rowan asked as soon as she came through the door.
The doctor hesitated. "Who's leg?"
"I don't know. But you do. All I know is that it's important."
The doctor sighed. "I don't know," he admitted. "She's left my care. Though I do know it's not likely that they're taking care of her."
Rowan nodded, thinking. "Okay. Thank you."
Nora ignored him completely. If this was all of the food she was getting for the rest of the week then she wasn't going to touch it unless it was completely nessicary. She soon decided to get some sleep rather than be bored and in pain by staying awake. Sleep didn't come easily and it was nightmarish when it did come. She really wasn't having a good couple of weeks. She slept for several hours and didn't move an inch the entire time. Her body had basically shut down.
The doctor attached something to Rowan's IV and Rowan could feel something cold going into her veins. "What's that?"
Dr. Matthews started to attach another clear liquid. "This will help you sleep, and you shouldn't dream with it." Rowan didn't like that. In her dreams, she had her memories back, her life back. "The other vial is nutrients. So we don't have to feed you." Rowan only nodded. She could feel herself starting to drift off as the lights blurred.
Nora slept like a brick for several hours. Her body was finally getting the rest that it needed. The constant beating had really taken it out of her.
She woke up to a headache. Nothing out of normal there. She sighed and rubbed her forehead lightly. Her stomach growled loudly. It wasn't as though she had had food all week. Would a couple of bites really hurt her? She picked up the bowl and took a small bite of food.
Rowan groaned as she woke up. Everything was hazy. She wanted to remember something, anything, because she knew it was important, but she couldn't. She couldn't even remember her own name.
A guard quickly opened the door to Nora's cell and plunged a syringe into her neck. "Another dose of that tranquilizer. I don't think you've played nice enough to earn your moving privileges today. You might want to try for better behavior unless you want us to slowly paralyze you," The Lieutenant said, grinning through the locked cell door.
Nora let out a long suffering sigh. "And what do you expect? For me to get on my knees and beg? Or to act like a slave?" She rolled her eyes and slid the tray away and leaned back up against the wall. Another nap would be nice.
"You people treat us like shit and expect politeness. Are you sure I'm the one getting the hallucinative drug?" She yawned as stared him down. "And what would happen if I did decide to behave? You'd just keep torturing me and keep me locked up like an animal."
"You would find out if you behaved. You're only here because you tried to escape. Remember your girlfriend? She didn't act out and she just sat there all day. She's only dead because of what you did. You would still be sitting in a room with her if you had stayed quiet." The Lieutant's face had grown serious. "I only follow orders. And my orders are to match you. Don't fight back and see what happens. Now enjoy. I hope you see her."
He walked away and a guard walked into the cell and injected the drug into Nora's neck.
"You tortured me before I tried to escape! Hence the broken leg, the cracked ribs, and the hundreds of other bruises and cuts and injuries," Nora snapped, highly annoyed. Now he was just spewing bullshit for now reason. "She's dead because of all of you! You kidnapped us and you were the one who forced a gun into out my hands and told me to shoot or to watch you peel her skin off. What type of sick bastards are you? Your mother must be so fucking proud of her little boy." With a scoff, she shook her head.
"Match? Match me for what?" She shouted out after him before she spit on the guard.
The guard didn't flinch or react. He simply finished his task, stood, and left.
Things were starting to come back to Rowan. Her name, for starters. She had beat up eight guards with a pipe. Someone named Nora was important. She thought about how Dr. Matthews flinched whenever she mentioned that name. That had to mean something.
(How long do you think it'll take Nora to really break down? No rush, I just want to plan Rowan's memory regain and her escape plan around that)
(A little while longer of that serum or something really big to break her. We could skip if you'd like.)
(No no no its fine. I just didn't want her to regain her memories too early or late or something)
(Also if you want you can control the Lieutenant if you have any ideas about stuff he could do to Nora)
(Idea wise, I've got nothing. Do you have any ideas at the moment? What's the match thing? I might be able to build something around that.)
(Just like match her energy level. Like depending on how ferocious Nora is or how much she tries to fight back or argue or insult, he tortures her with the same level. Like if she was just chill and docile they wouldn't inject that stuff into her and they would feed her more often. but being nice to her doesnt make her break)
(I kinda had this thought about Rowan's situation vs Nora's situation. Rowan was way more chill so they took away her memories and the memories of pain and Nora's pain. But Nora was the one who acted out and stuff so they left her with her memories. Just a random thought that I had today)
