Jack never looked down at her, his head on a constant swivel to make sure they weren't snuck up on. He looked nervous as all shit, and for good reason.
"Jack Harper," he said. "Your's?"
Jack never looked down at her, his head on a constant swivel to make sure they weren't snuck up on. He looked nervous as all shit, and for good reason.
"Jack Harper," he said. "Your's?"
“Eve Myles.” She replied, looking back down and towards the old roads ahead.
He fell silent as he stepped around various piles of rubble and the occasional body, wincing as he glanced over at the wrecked hovercar.
Eve frowned a little at everything. She’d forgotten what Earth was like and did not like what she saw.
"How long have you been off of Earth?" he asked, trying to fill up the empty space the quiet made.
This is awkward as all shit.
(Gasp im on afterschool!)
(Why can't Ghost Adventures play on weekdays ;-;)
(Ghost what?)
Eve shrugged a shoulder, "I.. I can't remember, a while, that's all I know."
"If it's been a while," he said, wincing, "You've missed a lot."
Eve frowned, biting her lip as she did so, "How long has it been since those alien things invaded?"
"3 years." His eyes had a haunted look. "It was so quick. We never stood a chance."
Her frown deepened as she weight the gun in her hand to distract herself, "Humans… so weak…"
"Not all of us," he pointed out, gesturing to himself. "I'm still here. And so are a few people of a similar skillset."
“That’s true,” Eve replied, “But most are, at least. Those who think they’re better then everyone else tend to die off quickly.”
"I'm no better or worse than anyone who died. I was just better prepared," he said.
“Fair call,” Eve said, shrugging a shoulder, “Always good to be prepared.”
"Oooooooooooo, shush!" He backed into a desreted alley and knealed, his eyes to the seemingly clear sky.
She looked up, frowning and trying to follow his gaze, "What? What now?"
"I said hush!" he whispered quickly.
There was a dull hummmmm that seemed to envelope them, growing to ear-deafening volume before fading away.
(Also bump)
(sorry, I had people over all night and today)
Eve winced at the loud noise, reaching up to rub at her ear once it was gone.
(It's fine)
"That was one of their ships," he said quietly, still scanning above them. "Cloaking devices make them invisible to human eyes."
"The fuck was that noise?" She muttered, "I'm guessing it came from the ship, too?"
He nodded. "It's supposed to draw us out. Doesn't work, but it hurts like hell."
Jack glanced down at her leg and cursed.
"I'm gonna have to run. Think you can take it?"
Eve nodded, "I've done worse," She winked, "Run like the wind."
