General personality: Shuysky thinks very highly of himself.
Unlike a certain someone, however, Shuysky prefers doing as little as work as possible. He’ll do the bare minimum for some jobs or take the easy route. Sometimes he’ll just let others do it for him. He’s got a way with words…or maybe not, maybe that’s just Shuysky thinking highly of himself.
Despite that, if something garners his attention, he does become active and very determined. Even though he generally loses interest after some time.

Gender: Female, or at least it seems like that

General personality: Miqo is an opportunist, in many ways. She understands the importance of patience, even though sometimes she runs right into the situation depending how she particularly feels that day. She dislikes control, but she is mischievous and taunting, often too much for her own good.
She can be a bit creepy at times, but thats natural for Ujiak.
Other: She/her or they/them pronouns are fine.

From the latest catch from the Rift, carriers of different sizes sat. These were no normal animal carriers. Only a trained professional was able to truly get near them, even if whatever was within was contained. One of the carriers, large enough to fit a large cat in it rattled slightly, as yellow eyes glowed from within, peering at the different people that went past.

Miqo had settled on taking on a different form for now. It was a bit easier in a smaller form. Her true form was a lot larger, but compared to the other creatures of the Rift, she paled in comparison. Miqo was a bit younger, after all.

She kept herself in the darkness of the container. Warm air flowed in, a difference from the cold air that belonged to the outside. She knew something was going to happen soon.

But what?

Shuysky arrived at the base as soon as he could come. To be honest, he wasn’t up to this sort of thing right now. He’d rather have the day off, but oh - he’d not like to be seen as a slacker.

He knew that a party returned from the Rift. Or one of them, at least. Those things opened up all around the world, but commonly at the poles, both north and south. The big things never came out, but smaller ones did; and they were pests. So what humanity decided to do was capture some. Maybe, eventually they’d learn that if they come to this dimension, they’ll get taken away for god knows what.

Maybe not. But if they did, then what? What would happen to Shuysky, and his job?

He erased the thought from his mind after arriving in the hangar, and looking at all the different carriers. Big creatures, some of them were. He was able to go up to the carriers - he did have a weapon, after all.
For now, he approached one of the carriers where he saw two, yellow eyes glowing from within. It looked almost catlike, he could’ve sworn.

Miqo kept herself crouched, legs tucked underneath her body as she peered around. A figure approached her, and she kept herself pressed against the walls, acting like a frightened animal. Of course, she wasn’t. She was a Ujiak, a fearsome beast of the Rift. Not to be confused for those smaller pests that came out, Ujiak were larger, with capabilities to terrorize villages to countries, or even the world depending on their size. They also rarely came out of the Rift.

Which leads Miqo back to how she got caught - sometimes, those creatures- the humans, she corrects herself, venture into the Rift, and go farther and farther each day, capturing her species. Unfortunately, Miqo was one of them, captured in her smaller form. They mistook her as just another pest.

They are far from that.

She flattens her ears, before jumping out at the bars. While she’s unable to get out of the cell, she can at least provide a warning.

Shuysky looks at the creature, but he’s unable to see much. He only sees a warning as the creature jumps up and seemingly attempts to bite him. He flinched away, quickly recovering. He takes a closer look at the creature, but still, it’s hard to see it. He hisses out in annoyance before going to leave, before he hears something outside.

He assumes it’s a snowstorm, at first. But it’s like a thunder, almost.

He feels alert, like he should run or flee. He picks up his weapon, tensing up.

Miqo gets the same feeling, but on a different level. It feels like another Ujiak, one of her own. But this one is different. Malicious, almost. The scent makes her recoil in disgust, and her fur stand on end.

It’s only when on the other end of the facility does an explosion occur, and shortly after, the power go out. She shrieks out, from natural reaction. Something is here, and she wants to leave. But there’s nowhere to go, not in this cage.

So she has to take things up herself.

Her small claws unsheathing, she comes to the bars and begins to try and get the locks to open.

He clicks his rifle and presses against the nearby wall for support immediately, looking in direction of the explosion. It’s loud, and while he’s unable to see it, he knows it did some damage. The creatures in the cages are panicking. Some are out of here, while others remain trapped inside. Oddly enough, as he looks to shoot one of those creatures, they seem to not be interested in him. In fact, they’re kind of panicked, as they flee..

Shuysky should flee too, he reckons to himself in third person. He picks himself off of the wall and prepare to run, to escape before things get worse. If those rift pests were afraid, then he should be too.

Miqo exhales very, very cold air onto the bars. It’s not just normal air though; evident as she returns to slash at the bars. Her claws are able to cut into it with ease, and its not long before Miqo is on the run. But in this form she’s small. More vulnerable. She can’t shift right here, so she decides to hitch a ride on the nearest moving thing to her - the human at her cage minutes earlier.

She jumps into the air, onto his shoulder and struggles to cling on.

Shuysky flinches as he feels something land on him, but there’s no time to lose. He’s getting out of here. He runs out into the snow and almost immediately trips down the hill due to the ice.

Miqo is careful to hold on, but she was surprised when her ride seemed to stumble over the hill. She lets go; she’s out of the building, after all, and she can leave. She recovers before attempting to get out.

By now, most of the Rift Creatures have left the area already.

Shuysky didn't fall-fall, just stumble a bit. He continues onwards, but by now, he probably made the wrong choice, he's realized, as a storm is moving in. Visibility is low, and he needs to find shelter. Shelter that isn't exploded.

Miqo flicks her ears up and sniffs, realizing the storm is quickly coming in. She looks around, considering leaving to her own needs; perhaps to find a Rift, but a howl changes her mind. She turns tail and follows the human.

Shuysky eventually comes across a cave. He slows, lowering himself, and entering, turning on his light. It's small, but it'll do. And no one else is here. He just needs to get a fire going is all. He begins to gather whatever he can see as the distant roar of the wind approaches.

Miqo sees the human wander into a small hole in the rocky wall that were the small mountains. She creeps up, crouched like a cat, and just watches.
