Premise: A buddy-cop action with a twist. Two dissimilar detectives are forced together to solve…unusual cases. Mutants, aliens, superheroes, even the supernatural –if it's unusual, it's theirs. A bit like the x-files.

@WriteOutofTime

Name: Nyir Heol
Age: 35
Sexuality: Straight
Gender: Female
Appearance: About 5'8, sturdily built with a good amount of slender muscle, dark marley twists pulled back into a high ponytail, dark brown heavy set eyes, deep smooth skin tone with cool undertones, nearly always frowning, scar on lower left side of face that ends at her lip, full lips, high cheekbones.
Outfit: Clean and simple clothing, mostly neutral colors. Slacks, solid-colored blazers, and white or beige blouses.
Personality: She is no-nonsense and intelligent. She has an incredibly strategic mind and can often seen snarky or disrespectful. She is sure of herself is not afraid to take calculated risks. She will not endanger the people she cares about, and would willingly give her life for them. Beyond the workplace, she has a quick wit and a dry humor. Particularly observant and invested in every case she begins. Obsessed with her work; will often go without sleeping just to crack a case. When she gets drunk, her humor and wit are elevated by 1000%. Actually…giggles.
Backstory: Had an essentially normal upbringing. Got married relatively early to her partner when she was still just an officer. Her partner died in the line of duty, giving her mild PTSD (nightmares mostly) and motivating her to safe as many lives as she could.
Quirks: Frowning or neutral like 24/7. Runs her hands through the exposed parts on her head when tired. Muscles always taught, like a coiled spring. When amused, she smirks wryly, hardly ever grinning. Her laugh is more of a breathy snort/scoff.
Skills: A decent shot. Analytical and observant. Particularly good at reading people.
Likes: Tea, quiet conversations about life, running, lakes, nature, rainy days/thunder storms, swimming, reading, gardening, listening
Dislikes: Loud people, things that remind her of the past, emotional outbursts, herself sometimes
Other (hogwarts house, MBTI, zodiac, whatever else): Slytherin, ISTJ-A, Capricorn

@BrennaKadavsky

Name: Alex O'neil
Age: 36
Sexuality: Straight
Gender: Male
Appearance: Tall and lanky, almost always pale. He has blue eyes, a scruff of untamed red hair, and usually the beginnings of a beard.
Outfit: Dark blue jeans, shirts with bad puns. Hiking boots, sometimes running shoes in the most annoying color he can find.
Personality: Level headed. When he's working, he's completely focused, always calm. This leads to a lot of emotional buildup that comes out when he's at home. When he isn't working, he can sarcastic, flirty, or just tired. And he's tired a lot.
Backstory: Grew up as the oldest of 7 siblings. His parents were divorced, so he took a lot of the responsibility when it came to raising his siblings. He became a detective shortly after college, never married and often has one of his siblings camping out in his back yard if they ever need to.
Quirks: He cracks his neck when he feels tense. He has a lot of subtle motions to release tension, but his facial expressions never tell you what he's thinking.
Skills: He can throw a tomahawk quite well. Other than that, he's thought about going into some kind of mounted police work, or getting a dog partner, since he likes animals. He can usually shoot straight, but he's better at hardcore crosswords.
Likes: A good barbeque, animals, trampolines, strawberry tea, chocolate coffee, not working on his car.
Dislikes: Loud noises like sirens or breaking objects. Vegetarians.
Other (hogwarts house, MBTI, zodiac, whatever else) He's always wanted a cow.

(I've never written Alex this old, so I'll probably change some little stuff so I can write him like an older version of himself.)

@WriteOutofTime

(Sure!)
Nyir straightened her blazer as she marched down the hall, coffee mug in one hand. Her heels clicked against the floor as she headed to her partner's office. She paused outside his door, politely knocking once before barging in without waiting for his acquiescence. She lifted an eyebrow as she stepped inside, taking a sip of her coffee.

"We've got a new case," she informed him flatly, retrieving the file from underneath her arm. She placed it on his desk.

@BrennaKadavsky

Alex gave her a wry smile. "Finally. I've missed seeing your face every day." He lifted his foot off the table and swung it down to lean forward and lift the file. "I'm betting 48 hours, tops." He flicked open the file, the familiar excitement sweeping through him. No matter how many times he did this, Alex never stopped feeling his fascination with the 'other' cases he was assigned.

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir rolled her eyes while he wasn't looking, knowing it was childish but also taking childlike pleasure in the action. "An alien is allegedly terrozing a neighborhood in rural Mississippi," she summarized as he flipped through the file. "I'm of the opinion that there's a normal explaination for this, but I'd love to hear your thoughts."

@BrennaKadavsky

"As much as I would love to have a really interesting day…" He trailed off before snapping the file closed. "My guess would be either teenagers having fun, or a deer with especially big eyes." He stretched his arms back behind him, standing up and walking around his desk. "Are we staying up here, or heading down there for a closer look?" He held the file loosely, tucked under one arm while he adjusted one boot.

@WriteOutofTime

"Well, since there have been a few bodies," Nyir mused slowly, leaning against his desk and taking a slow sip of her coffee, "it might be best if we head out there." She smirked wryly, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. "You don't have other plans, do you?"

@BrennaKadavsky

Alex raised an eyebrow. "Oh no, not me. My social calendar's blank at the moment. Besides, why on earth would I turn down a day of travelling with you?" He eyed her coffee, making a mental note to stop somewhere and get some for himself. If there were bodies involved, it would be a long day. And long days meant lots of coffee.

@WriteOutofTime

"I can't imagine anything more amusing than you, me, and a handful of dead bodies," she replied in a monotone voice, her expression blank. She pushed herself off the desk, leaving the file with him. "Do you want to leave today or tomorrow?"

@BrennaKadavsky

"That's the spirit." Alex laughed. "Unless you have something going on today, I can leave in about an hour, once I head home and pack. I'll meet you at the airport?" He leaned against the doorpost and grinned at her.

@BrennaKadavsky

Alex nodded, slipping out in front of her and waving briefly before making his way down to the parking lot.
(That's fine, have fun with whatever you're doing!)

@WriteOutofTime

(Sure, timeskip to the airport)
Nyir sat down in the waiting area near their terminal, glancing down at her phone. She was a few hours early. O'Neil wasn't there yet, but that was no surprise. He'd show up soon, she was certain. There wasn't much of a crowd in the airport today, which she was grateful for –she couldn't stand a crowd, especially not a busy airport. She settled in to wait.

@BrennaKadavsky

Alex finally, finally got the airport. The traffic had been terrible, the drive through he'd gone through had been slow, and he'd taken too long packing. For a guy who liked to be early, especially when it came to things he did with Nyir, he was extremely frustrated. With both himself, and the world. He grabbed his duffel bag, slinging it over his shoulder, and making his way into the airport to find his partner.

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir spotted Alex from across the airport. Raising a hand in greeting, she moved her duffle bag out of the chair next to her so he'd have somewhere to sit. He was quite good at concealing any emotion on his face, so Nyir could only guess at what he was thinking.

@BrennaKadavsky

Alex sat heavily, giving her a nod of thanks for the seat. "Sorry I'm late. The traffic's terrible." He said it gruffly, making an effort to not begin this trip on a bad note. He set the bag down in front of his seat.

@WriteOutofTime

"Hm," she said, noncommittal. She stood up and walked across to a small coffee shop. Returning to her seat, she handed him a cup and sipped her own. "You look like you need it," she said.
