"Because I wouldn't believe myself," Sebastian admitted. "You won't be able to pull a fast one on me."
"Because I wouldn't believe myself," Sebastian admitted. "You won't be able to pull a fast one on me."
"I might. I'll sneak into your dorm at night or something and draw on your face while you're asleep." She gave a laugh. "Too bad there aren't any sedatives out there that work on Red levels." She smiled innocently. "I mean… what? What were we talking about again?"
Sebastian gave Arowen a look.
"You know, we're both lucky there are no sedatives that work on us. And there's no way you're getting into my dorm, because I'm not staying in one."
"Details, details," Arowen said, waving her hand dismissively.
Then her face grew serious. "Do people actually know that there are still level Reds alive, do you think? I hope not, honestly."
"Well they know I do. Even if they don't know who I am." Sebastian shrugged a bit, becoming serious as well. "A was a little kid, I didn't realize how dangerous it was for people to know just how powerful my weapon is."
"Fair enough," Arowen said. She gave a tony chuckle. "At least you got to find a way to disguise your weapon. I had to make people think that I don't have a familiar. It happens sometimes."
"Yes, that's true. Actually, he's able to turn most weapons." Sebastian gave a small smile. "We decided a dagger was the least intimidating."
"Most weapons?" Arowen tilted her head questioningly. "Is there a weapon he can't turn into? Also, does he have a personality?"
"Not really any Orange level weapons," Sebastian admitted. "And yeah, he does. He says he has a name too, but he won't tell me yet." He shrugged a little. "He said he would when I'm ready."
"Why not Orange weapons?" Arowen asked. "And why won't he tell you? This seems more like your the helper and he's the master. What do you call him, then, if you don't know his real name?"
"I've no idea. I think he can, but refuses to. And I can't exactly force him. I also think that's why he won't tell me his name. It would give me more control over him." Sebastian chuckled a little. "Yeah, it does seem like that. And call him? Usually I just use pronouns. I don't really have any name in particular, except maybe 'my weapon.'"
“I mean, don’t you want to be able to control your weapon?” Arowen asked, then chewed her lip in thought. “I’ve never heard of weapons having a personality, though. Maybe it’s because if the high level?”
"I don't know. Maybe it is just because he's Red. And I would, but it's obvious he doesn't want that." Sebastian chuckled a little. "But, it's never actually put me in danger before, so I don't really mind."
“Fair enough. As long as he doesn’t try to disobey when your life is on the line.” Arowen frowned. “Do you think there’s a record of weapons going rogue?”
"If there is, I have no access to it." Sebastian let out a long breath. "Hopefully not. He could easily leave me to die, if not do it himself." Still, Sebastian seemed calm.
“Doesn’t he have a contract with you?” Arowen asked with a frown. “I know I do with Eris, but he’s my familiar, not a weapon.”
"Nope. I have one with my my familiar, but when I bright one up to him he laughed. Said 'those were only for familiars, why would you need one with a weapon?'" Sebastian let out a soft chuckle. "Well, if I did in my sleep you'll know who did it."
“Fair enough.” Arowen gave a slight smile. “Your familiar is a cat, right? I think I saw her earlier.”
Sebastian smiled a bit.
"Yes. I had asked her to help me focus on studying, but she kept making comments about the people around me. Mostly you." he chuckled softly.
"Awe, that's good." Arowen flashed a grin. "Was she telling you all about my awesomeness, then?" She laughed. "Never ask a familiar to help you with work. Do you know how irritating it is to hear their constant commentary, especially when you've been holding off studying until the last minute?"
"Normally she's really good about keeping me focused! There was just something about you… Mostly how the man talking to you was way out of his league. And that I was too." He laughed lightly.
Arowen snorted. “That’s true, at least. I’m out of everyone’s league, I’m that awesome.” She grinned. “Well, what should we do now, while we’re waiting for the other students to wake up?”
Sebastian let out a low hum, thinking.
"We could always go to the library. And do our work." Sebastian slipped his hands out of his pockets.
"Or we could find out what the headmaster is hiding."
“Work is boring,” she said instantly, with no hesitation. “Let’s go see what the headmaster is hiding. I love snooping in places where I don’t belong.” She snickered.
Sebastian grinned.
"Yes, let's. I'll get him out of the office."
