It took 17 takes to get a satisfactory one.
The director, mercifully, decided they’d spend the rest of the day on combat. River loved the choreography, like dancing but dangerous, and he got to yell overdramatically at the villain. It was good.
With fake dirt covering his face, a broken sword in his hand, putting his entire heart into the lines, he was glad he was here.
Evan was now in the romantic scene. He was tired and so at this point he was going through the motions. Only 2 hours and a half more till he had to go home. He just tried to keep a smile on his face and be passionate. Which at the end he never was good at.
“And scene. That was good, great, everyone get out, I’ve got a team of editors that have to make a movie out of all this. Back here at 7am.”
River let out a sigh. He was tired, hungry and sore. As he was left alone in his room to “SLEEP, River.” he remembered that his day wasn’t over yet. There was that guy’s ex’s house. He wondered if he’d had been serious about going to egg it. Well, he wasn’t going to back out of a fun time because of anxiety, at least not his time, so he quickly changed into the most average black hoodie and jeans he could find. Just in case Brian has stuck around, he snuck out through the window, jumping down several stories with the grace of someone who’d done it a hundred times.
He was on his way to purchase some eggs.
Evan meanwhile was let go early and biked home, singing a bit as he raced back home. He loved biking as well.
Two dozen is enough, right? River grabbed the cartons and headed to the checkout, well aware of the fact that the sun was setting and he looked ridiculous in his sunglasses.
Evan got home, relieved no one had tried to steal anything. He fed his cat and got undressed into a pair of baggy sweats and that's it, then went to go make himself some dinner.
River paid with cash and intentionally stared down at his purchase, but he needn’t have bothered. The cashier was half awake and possibly stoned out of their mind, and wouldn’t have even batted an eye if he’d stripped to his underwear and started singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
Evan was laying there on his couch, waiting for the pizza to cook, watching TV, completely oblivious to anything and everything, just happy to be home and able to relax.
River plugged the address into his phone and started what turned out to be a long walk to the house.
