He cast a glance in her direction, before asking, sounding more hurt than anything,”Does that really matter to you!?”

"Y-Yes," she whimpered, looking at him but not making eye contact.
His tense composure softened, almost as if he was letting down his guard, at least for the moment. He grumbled under his breath, “I failed a test… Are you happy now!?”
She swallowed nervously. "Did– Did you study?"
He tilted his head back and looked up at the ceiling, feeling his throat start to tighten. “Yes… I did, all night…”
Slowly, she stood up and approached him. She tentatively reached out her hand to send him a calming aura to connect to. "I-I could help you i-if you w-wanted…"
“I- I mean, I don’t know! It can’t possibly matter that much to you, and I’m such a failure, my future obviously isn’t going anywhere..” a few tears slipped down his cheeks. He quickly wiped them away with his sleeve, getting himself back under control. “I’m sorry, I just, I don’t know what came over me..” He turned away, not wanting to face her.
Trinity blinked, completely taken aback. "What do you want your future to be?" she asked softly.
He choked out a laugh, before saying, “It really doesn’t matter.. Besides, it’s pretty stupid anyways..” He shook his head.
"I'm sure it's not," she replied gently. She kept trying to send her calming aura.
Taking a deep breath, he turned back to face her, and simply replied, “Well, I know it’s never gonna happen. So I think that’s answer enough..” He sadly shrugged, then started to walk off towards his room.
"But I want to know," she said quietly, but somehow still loud enough that he could hear.
