A wobbly cuckoo clock gear, a broken stiletto heel, and a fall are three completely random events. The odds of all happening in a day in a city is something you can bet on. Add in the same guy and lady in each and every event change the odds from likely to astronomical. Yet, that's exactly what happened to two people from completely different backgrounds and social statuses. Is the relationship fate, or blind luck?
(I'll be the guy!)
(Thanks! By the way, can you explain the post a bit more? I'm sorry, I'm kind of tired)
(So a guy is working three jobs, and a woman ends up needing every single one of the services in the same day. She ends up falling in love with the guy and sets up a way to meet him every day)
(Oh okay then, that sounds cool!)
(WOuld you like me to start)
The first thing Kace noticed when the woman walked into the workshop was that she was drop dead gorgeous. She had to've been a movie star or a model of some sort, because she was that level of pretty. And by the way she was dressed, it was probably a safe assumption. In her hands was a small cuckoo clock. It appeared to be in great condition, but the look on the woman's face and the fact she was bringing it into the store meant that something had to be wrong with it.
Alice made her way across to the counter as her heels clicked loudly on the floor, announcing her presence as if she was that important. She just needed to get this cuckoo clock fixed then get into her dress for her friend's wedding. She set the clock on the counter and glanced at the guy there. Damn, he's pretty. She thought before smiling a bit at the guy. "This is my friends clock and I don't really know what's wrong with it but she wanted me to get it fixed so can tell you tell me what's wrong with it and fix it?"
"Uh….yeah." He shook off his star-struck expression and looked down at to clock. "I'm gonna have to take it apart to see. How much time do you have?"
"Umm-" Alice glanced at her phone to check the time. "-An hour at most, is that enough time?" She asked, not really wanting to be late at all. Her light brown hair looked almost blonde in some places where the light filtering through shone on her hair. Her eyes looked more green than usual because of her black dress which brought out the green instead of the brown.
In contrast, Kace's hair was a dark black cut almost bald just so he wouldn't have to use it. He wore a paint-stained grey collared under an old denim apron and black jeans. His eyes are a sky blue that matched the paint of the clock he now had in his hands.
"Well…..I'm not sure. This is an old, old clock. I'll have to be really careful."
Alice let out a curse and sighed. "Um, I'll see if I can get more time, can you start working quickly?" She asked, glancing at the man as if she really needed this to be fixed.
He flashed an awkward smile. "I'll have it done as quick as I can, Miss."
He pulled a screwdriver from his apron and leaned in close to the clock, squinting as he carefully began unscrewing the back of it.
Alice smiled back and opened her phone so she could call her friend. "Thanks."
She tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for her friend to pick up, looking around the store.
It was full of various clocks and items for repairing. It was odd, however, that he was the only person in this very large store. It looked like it needed 3 or 4 people to run, but it still seemed clean and well kept.
Alice's attention was quickly diverted when she heard her friend's voice and started talking with her.
"The boy said he needed more than an hour," She murmured into the phone, wondering why there was only person taking care of the place.
"Take as much time as you need, Alice, I just need it fixed," Came the reply from her soon-to-be-married friend.
"Thanks! By the way, I'm sorry it's taking so long."
"It's fine, I just need it fixed."
It took abut thirty minutes to peel the back of the clock off, and another 15 to find the problem.
"Oh, shit. It's just a loosened gear," he said, feeling relieved. "I just need to tighten it, and you'll be on your way."
Alice glanced at him and sighed in relief, nodding in reply to what he said. "Okay then." Thank the lord it wasn't anything else.
He carefully reached in with a screwdriver, only turning it once or twice before beginning to reattach the back.
"See, these little things work off of the motion of the pendulum, the little moving thing beneath it. That means there's a lot of intricate gearwork to get these things to stay."
Alice nodded along in reply. "I'll make sure to come to you whenever I have a problem with my clock."
It only took his 10 or so minutes to put the back on again, obviously more confident from taking it off successfully.
"6 to 6 on the weekdays," he said cheerfully, taking one last look at the clock before handing it back to her with a smile.
