Graham sighed, not advancing on the other man, he didn't want to scare him, he just wanted him to see that he what he was doing wrong. "I uhm, Ario, right? I hate to tell you, but that sort of isn't well. . .right?" He said shaking his head, "I uhm, had you done this to the wrong person, you'd be in a lot of trouble for that."
"O-Oh… why's it bad?" Ario asked tentatively. "I'm just trying to do some research, you know? And… and I'd never try anything on anybody that I haven't already tried on myself, s-so I know it won't kill them or anything…"
"Well, most people don't really want to be operated on at least without consent, and you also have to have certain licenses and stuff. Even if you could easily do that sort of thing you'd well, I don't know if people would want you to research them, at least not with you asking them. Well, I'd be okay if did it to someone else, just not to me." He said with a shrug.
Ario looked away and sighed, shuffling around nervously. His hooves clicked on the ground a bit with every little step. "I'm not trying to do anything wrong, I just… I'm researching the differences between different species, you know? So I just do it on the people around here…"
Graham smiled a little bit, This is an interesting situation. He thought to himself watching the satyr grow more and more nervous. "Well, if you'd like to study, again there are things that you need to do first, and also, you sort of need consent. Just because it won't hurt them doesn't mean they won't be upset about it." But as he spoke, he began to hatch an idea in his mind, "Perhaps I could help solve this issue though?"
Ario looked up at Graham weakly. "H-How could you solve it, sir?" He asked, shuffling around a little more. His heart was pounding hard in his chest and he really seemed terrified. "Why… w-why would people be bothered by it if I'm not really hurting them? I mean… they always leave in the morning before I wake up… it's not like I usually have conversations with them like I'm having with you."
Good grief. . . He thought to himself, shaking his head at the man before him, "Number one, my name is Graham, you don't have to call me sir." His voice was a lot less harsh than how it was earlier, and he was trying hard to get Ario to understand what he was doing wrong, but also sort of trust him as well. "I don't know, would you like to be operated on by a stranger and not having anyone ask you about it? And this is just a possibility, but maybe they're sort of scared of you, so they leave as soon as they could? I don't know, if that was me, and if I had that sort opportunity, I would take it. Now I'm not saying you're scary to me or anything, but I can see how another person would be scared by that." He said with a smile.
Ario looked down at the floor, turning his ears back a bit. "W-Well, if it were research, I don't think I'd mind it… research is important…" He drew in a few wavering breaths. "I just… I really didn't think that there was anything I was doing wrong. I've got a bunch of research over there, s-see?" He pointed to a pile of folders on the counter.
Graham was just growing more and more annoyed with the satyr, but he wasn't trying to show it, the man probably just didn't know what things were like in the real world. "Okay, well, fine, just don't, I don't know, just uhm. . ." This could help me get rid of my heroes, especially after I defeat them, they could get patched up and whatever, and perhaps things get go wrong, that would be interesting. "Well, maybe I could help you??
"How do you mean?" Ario asked softly, fidgeting with his hands again. "You're not gonna kill me or anything are you?" He asked, his voice weak and shaky. "I-I'm pretty sure none of the people I've tested on have died… I… I didn't think I was doing anything wrong, sir, p-please…"
Graham sighed, moving away from Ario to give him his space, then sat back down on the examination table that he had been lying on before. "Look, I'm not going to hurt you, I can promise you that much. But, I just, it's not. . .Look. . ." He sighed, trying to think of a way to put it, "You need to get someone's permission before you research on them, even if it is research. You wouldn't want to have to donate your brain, or a crucial body part without anyone asking you even if it was for research, or at least I hope you wouldn't. But anyways, main point is to ask, and I can quite possibly help with that."
Ario sighed shakily and looked away again. "I've never removed anyone's organs…" He mumbled. "How are you thinking that you could help?" He asked. "I just… I don't know what I'm supposed to do about this. I don't think anyone in the city knows where I live… I'm pretty out of the way, so… you know…"
