(I think I came up with a good name for this. . . Pulled into this Mess?)
Yeong's brows raised with interest upon finding out Roa wrote romance. He wasn't much of a romance guy, but this could be interesting. He picked up on the redness in Roa's cheeks, and a grin formed on his lips. "Yeah? What kind of romance you write about?" he asked. He had an idea, the blush serving to further confirm his assumptions. He thought Roa could be into men, but he wanted things to be confirm first before he started saying anything riskier. "Anything genre or trope that's your thing?"
"Does it have any sort of meaning? Pretty sure my name means 'brave hero', or something like that," he said, rambling on a bit. Once he got started talking, it was a bit difficult for him to stop. He didn't think there was anything wrong with that, though. He enjoyed being extroverted and chatty, not caring if it happened to annoy others.
Roa’s light blush deepened slightly and he steps back a single step before lifting his shoulder into a half shrug. “Um. . .” He clears his throat, rubbing the back of his neck.
He was just being stupid. Ho hoard could it be to say he wrote gay smut? Not that hard, or at least to say he wrote gay romance. He should just out with it or something. he chews on his lower lip slightly and then looks back at the other male. “Gay. . . Romance. I write gay romance.” He cold feel the flush of embarrassment creep from his cheeks to his ears and start to make it’s way down his neck at this point.
He tilts his head to the side and then shake it, “No. . . Not really. My mom always said my name made me think rosin. You know, the stuff sting plays put on their bows?”
Yeong’s eyes widened a bit when Roa said that he wrote specifically gay romance books. That was exactly what he had wanted to hear. He chuckled when he was able to see how embarrassed Roa was about it. “Ah, nothing to be ashamed of with that,” he hummed, grinning down at Roa. “Sounds like something I’d be interested in.”
Yeong had absolutely no idea what Roa was talking about when it came to his name. He hadn’t lived in a practical household. Growing up in the cartel in Spain had been a whole other world. He hadn’t had to do any sort of work or labor, and certainly didn’t know about any musical instrument things. Not anything that would be considered classical, at least. He grew up around a lot of Hispanic and Urban music, and that was still what he listened to in current times.
Roa blushes a little more, looking down to the ground, “Yeah. . . Not ashamed, just embarrassed.” He murmurs, biting his lower lip. He digs his toe into the ground, looking back up at the other with a slight smile, his cheeks still slightly pink. He was going to blame it on the heat.
“Really? You’d read gay romance?” He asks, tipping his head to the side, curious.
Yeong laughed at Roa’s surprised tone. He didn’t look like the average type to be into men. People were often surprised and assumed that he was straight, judging by his appearance and line of work. While it was uncommon, it was still his life. He had found that he had an attraction to men since his adolescence. It started out as curiosity before turning into full on crushes. Soon, he began to properly flirt with and mess around with other men. He slept with both men and women, unsure of who he had done so more. He found himself more attracted to men, though. It was a preference that he had, and he stuck to it.
“Well sure, why not?” he hummed with a small shrug of his shoulders. A small grin formed on his lips at Roa’s embarrassment. “I like men.”
Roa blushes slightly, this time for a different reason than embarrassment. “Um. . . No— I mean. . . Not many guys are into Romance. Typically scorn me for even being interested in it.” He shrugs, sliding his hands into his pockets.
“And especially gay romance.” He tilts his head to the side, considering the taller man before him. “I also just wouldn’t peg you for the type of person to read either. Though you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover.”
Yeong looked Roa up and down, not trying to be subtle about the way his eyes dragged along the others form. He was unashamed about his attraction to men, as well as with flirting. He was quite bold most of the time. Beating around the bush was boring, and he was a man that knew exactly what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to chase after it. He hummed as he looked back at Roa’s face.
“I mean, I’m not much of a romance guy either, but I could see guys reading it for the porn,” he said casually, shrugging his shoulders. Another thing he didn’t mind talking about- sex. He didn’t see the big deal about it, it was just something people did. It was human nature, so why be embarrassed?
A laugh escaped Yeong at the comment about not thinking he reads. “Can’t lie about that, I don’t much. More of a video kind of guy. Unless it’s in Español,” he replied.
Roa blushes more, looking away and running a hand through the back of his hair. The onyx ends stuck up, and were slightly sticky with his sweat. A feeling he did not like for his normally softy and fluffy hair. He presses his lips together for a moment, listening tio the other. “The-The porn?” He coughs softly, shaking his head.
“Probably-“ He clears his throat. “Not going to lie, that’s probably what most of my followers are there for as well.”
He chuckles softly, and then coughs, “What?!” He stares at the other Considering the words that had come out of the mans mouth just moments before, the talking about video, Roa’s mind would be bound to wander away.
“Video?” He croaks.
(Sorry for the delay, works been kicking my ass)
Yeong picked up on the blush that spread across Roa’s face. It was easy to notice on the other man. He debated teasing him about it, but thought the talk about porn was enough. Clearly, it was, the man seeming quite flustered about the whole topic in general. He would be nice, for now at least. If Roa gave him the right signals, he would push a bit more.
He laughed when Roa gave such a shocked reaction to his bluntness. “Yeah, videos. You know what I mean? Or do you not watch videos and stick to reading?” he asked before humming to himself. “Ah, you don’t have to answer that, not if you don’t want to. Look at me, getting ahead of myself.”
“How about this- you give me your number, and I’ll check out one of these books of yours,” Yeong suggested, brows raised a bit. It was a confident offer, the implications clear by the tone of his voice and how their conversation had gone so far.
(It’s fine :)
Roa runs his hand over his face, taking a moment to clear the blush from his cheeks. “Um. . . Right. . . No, not really. I much prefer books to video, though a good movie would hold my attention.” He laughs, trying to twist the conversation away from where he had previously thought it going.
“A good movie with a friend is nice, but reading and writing are more my space.” He shrugs slightly.
Roa nods and pulls his phone out, “Okay. I post them onto my website-“
(Sorry it’s short)
(it’s ok!)
Yeong gave Roa a pointed look, looking like he was trying to see into the man’s soul. He was trying to get a read on how Roa was feeling. He wasn’t the best at feeling out social cues, but it was clear Roa wasn’t feeling the mood. It was fine, he would take his little loss and shrug it off. Who knows, things could change and the energy could switch up later- if there was a later. He didn’t have many real dates. He wasn’t a big relationship guy, usually not liking to be tied down due to getting restless and bored easily. He had made exceptions in the past and been in a couple of real relationships, but things always grew complicated due to cartel life. Whether that was the danger of it, the drugs, or it being illegal in the first place, his partners had always been disapproving. He could understand it, but it made things difficult in the end, considering there was no way out and he was to be the heir soon.
He took his smartphone out of the pocket of his shorts and pulled up the contacts app. He handed the phone over to Roa for him to put his information in. Notifications buzzed steadily, most being in spanish. To most they would seem harmless, but for anyone who had an understanding of Spanish, it was talk of moving hard drugs from location to location. “Ah, so maybe I can translate them easier on the web.”
Roa’s chews on his lower lip, his gaze focused on the man before him before he blinks and looks away. He didn’t want to stare, but it was kind of hard not to when the guy in front of him was, with not many other words coming to mind, hot. Incredibly hot.
His gaze flicks up to the other again, carefully taking his phone, “Oh, I have a few written in Spanish. I took it in high school, and though I wasn’t the best at it, I’ve kept up with it. Being from Texas does that to you. Spanish is very useful in that state, and I go back often.” He shrugs, looking down at the constantly buzzing phone.
He looked mildly uncomfortable and didn’t focus on the texts popping down, instead looking at the number, memorizing and putting it into his phone. He flipped his gaze between the two devices, checking what he had was right.
His gaze catches on a text, the first word her recognized being drugs, once translated. He thrusts the phone back to the other, an embarrassed and guilty flush on his face. “Anyways, yeah. . . I have a few in Spanish on there, but there’s also a translate button on at the top to the left and a drop down of three or four different languages. There should be a Spanish option on all of them. You can also change the default language in the settings for the website.”
Yeong’s brows raised, interest clearly piqued when Roa mentioned some of his books being written in Spanish. While it was only a basic, high school level of knowledge, it was still something he could appreciate. He would most likely end up reading those first. They might be a bit messy considering Roa wasn’t fluent, but they would be easy to pick apart. “Texas, huh? Never been there. I know there’s a lot of Spanish speakers over there. Mexicano and España slang are a bit different, but more or less easy enough to decipher,” he rambled on a bit.
The texts caught his attention, and knowing that Roa could understand basic Spanish, he tilted the phone away the moment he was done. He glanced at the messages, knowing they must have something to do with work. It would be easy to assume they were about just doing drugs, if that was the only word that someone knew. Though, it was a stereotype to assume that all Hispanics were involved in the cartel. He could deny it all he wanted and could get away with the lie, if Roa didn’t understand more of the message.
“Ah, that’s a nice thing to have. Not many sites have an easy Spanish option,” he hummed, stuffing his phone back into the pocket of his shorts. Most of the time he had to put things through a translator which ended up making things jumbled and not too legible. It was easier to just avoid things, in his opinion. “I’ll check out your Spanish ones first. Maybe send you my thoughts on your Spanish once I’m done,” he added with a little grin.
Roa nods, "Yeah, I get better everytime I go back. Though my formal education in the language was only in highschool, it helped me pick up a few other friends who help teach me a little bit more. So, it's not a huge jumbled mess." He rubs the back of his neck nervously, smiling slightly at Yeong.
Still slightly put off about the texts about drugs, Ria's gaze d'arts away. The man before him did not seem like the guy who did drugs. Though Road never judged a book by it's cover, and it was possible that the man was doing drugs. That would disappoint Road greatly, he didn't like those who did drugs. Or got involved. It would cause a huge mess, and Roa wanted a crime free, drama free life at the moment. Though his adventure filled stories might say something different.
Road smiles slightly, "Thanks. . . Um. . . Yeah, I realized that, and if I want more people to read them, they should be readily available in a few different languages. Do not use Google translate, it's unreliable." He grins slightly. His feet shift slightly, adjusting his posture.
"I have a few friends who take my English works and translate them, thought most of the time I write the Spanish ones myself." He shrugs slightly.
