"Welp, I'm sorry if I can't cook…" he grumbled
"Welp, I'm sorry if I can't cook…" he grumbled
She nudged his arm. "I was teasing…" she said softly.
"welp I'm sorry if I can't cook." he smiled boyishly "I'll try but I can't promise anything decent."
She grinned and walked away to get a container of zinc powder for the experiment.
He started to read the procedure, seeing that it included chemicals, though not all too flammable "aw." he groaned "nothing fun anymore."
She came back, placing the plastic container between them. "What was that?"
"me complaining" he waved a hand dismissively "nothing to blow up." he said with a smile
She arched her eyebrows. "You think that's a back thing? You wonder why the teacher stopped picking experiments involving Bunsen burners…"
He rolled his eyes, all teachers knew to keep flames and heat away from him, the knew about his power, no one but them and Marina. "those were fun." he said whistfully, conjuring a small dancing flame.
She snuffed it quickly. "Don't," she hissed. "Five thirty – they're staring…"
He looked up and smiled "fine." he looked at her sidelong and smiled as she read the procedure
She finished reading the paragraph, she looked over at him to see if he'd been paying attention and noticed his gaze. "What?" she asked, looking to the other side, then back to him.
He shook his head "no nothing, sorry, continue." feigning interest in the work, stealing quick glances at her when she wasn't looking
She filled in some of the tables on the sheet and looked over at him again. "Do you know how to do this?" she asked quietly, pointing at an equation.
he looked over to the equation and nodded. He explained the process of the equation to her and went back to his own paper
A few minutes later, Marina was stuck again. Upset, she threw her pencil down and caught her head in her hands. This was supposed to be easy!
He glanced over at her paper "need help?" he asked quietly
"Yes," she whispered, lot looking at him.
He explained to her the problems that she was having trouble with, trying ignoring the Snickers and comments that rised around them.
"Aw need freak is helping the loner! How cute!!!"
His fists clenched, he could deal with them calling him names, but not her
"Awwww two freaks in a freakshow!"
Marina looked over her shoulder. "Shut up, Jackson," she sneered.
"Look who's defending nerd boy over here, its geek girl." Jackson cackled at his own joke
"or what girly, whatcha gonna do?"
Cas let out a growl, before launching himself over the table and grabbing Jackson by his collar
"call me what you want, but if you ever speak to her again like that, I'll pin you down and let her beat the daylights out of you, understand?"
"Cas. out. NOW." Mrs preskott yelled, knowing to send him anywhere but the office "take a walk,"
Cas nodded, mumbled a sorry to his teacher and silently left the room
Marina looked from Mrs. Preskott to the door to Jackson, who had in the meantime recovered and was smirking at her.
"Looks like you got yourself a grade A bodyguard, huh Marina?"
She narrowed her eyes and gritted her teeth angrily. "You've got some nerve."
Cas shoved his hands in his pockets and walked to the library, the only sanctuary he had to calm down. The librarian had given him the key that locked and unlocked the doors, knowing that'd he's been there often. He breathed in the familiar scent of pages walked over to his favorite section, romance. He sighed and picked up a book, like the description and found a seat near the back.
"Are you gonna beat the daylights outta me or what?" Jackson asked with a laugh.
Marina only glared.
"enough you two." Mrs. Preskott ordered "Marina, go." she allowed her to leave the class to find Cas
"you, I will happily call your parents." she said glaring at Jackson
