(Okay, sounds good! Sorry I keep changing everything. I’m indecisive as shit.)
Justin was still watching the crowd, watching bodies move together and then pulled his gaze away from it, facing the bar and his phone was in his hand. He looked at the screen and frowned slightly, Charlie was pestering him again. Now, he loved Charlie like a brother, but sometimes, the Fae male was too much. Charlie Bane was always too much. Justin smiles, and sends back a quick, I'm afk, so don't bother me again :) before pocketing the phone.
Justin felt the moment a young woman left the crowd of the dance floor and walked towards the bar. Justin could feel the glace the young woman shot at him and he looked back, watching her. She was normal in appearance, bu her smell was not human. It was similar to Charlie's, in the way that two creatures of the same species were similar. He turns away again and promptly ignores the woman. Justin was not in the habit of drinking Fae blood.
He then turns his gaze back to the dance floor, searching again. He was fucking hungry and was ready to pounce on just about anyone to satisfy the burn in his throat. He was not wanting to reach that point, he prided himself over his self control, and would not let a little hunger get in the way of it.
Emaria debated winking at the male as he observed her in turn. She decided against it, though the thought was very tempting. After practically orgasming on the dance floor, she needed a break from the flirting. But, there was something about this male that she just couldn’t place. He was different from the rest of the half-drunk desperate humans on the dance floor behind them. He was as different as she was. She wondered if he felt it too.
And as a well-versed mind fairy, Emaria also had to fight the temptation to probe into his mind and read his thoughts. His emotional “swirl,” as she called it, was cloudy, and she couldn’t really pick up what exactly he felt at the moment.
But just as quickly as he’d looked at her, he looked away. Emaria nearly frowned, but she kept her face cool and impassive. Though the way his eyes went back to the dance floor intrigued her.
“Looking for someone?” she asked, attempting to start a conversation with this male, even if it was only small talk.
Justin stares at the crowd on the dance floor, debating between going down there himself or waiting. Justin always had to choose with care. He couldn't just pick a human and drink. One had to be careful, to make sure the one they were eating from wasn't sick. Justin had done that once with a human who had HIV, gods, he'd been sick for a long time. Until the blood had worked its way out of his system. Since then, Justin had been very careful from whom he fed.
He felt the girl look away from him and was satisfied, for now anyways. With fae, you could never be too careful and so he pulled his mental shields tighter around his mind. He didn't want this girl knowing anything about him. Thoughts, emotions. . . anything.
He glaces back at her, "Yes." That's all he would say. Short responses, he didn't want to give anymore than that.
Even though he wasn't looking at her, Emaria continued to watch him for another moment or so. But eventually, her own gaze drifted back to the dance floor. She tried to figure out what it was, or who it was that he was looking for.
Emaria gave in to her temptation, slightly, and decided to try and peak at his thoughts. She looked down at her drink instead so no one would see her eyes light with her magic use while she extended her mental self towards him. But her abilities hit a wall. Damn! He'd somehow been prepared for her intrusion. What did that mean now? Was he another fae? A brief sidelong glance at him told Emaria that he wasn't. So then… what was he?
His short response only piqued Emaria's curiosity, especially since he had such strong shields around his mind. She made sure her magic had died down enough that her eyes returned to their normal color before she inclined her head toward him again. "Anyone in particular?" she prodded.
His gaze flickered from person to person, face to face and scent to scent. All he could pick up on through his nose was the smell of like, sex, alcohol and endorphin. He would have to go down there then. He would get to dance tonight. He thrilled at the though, of all the centuries he'd seen one thing that remained the same was that humans loved dancing. Sure, the style of dancing had changed, but th life it brought to peoples eyes hadn't changed.
He could feel the corner of his lips pull up in a slight smirk when he felt the woman's mental magic hit his wall. He could almost feel her curiosity to know what he was. it was clear h was not a fae, like her. But he hadn't shown any of the other skills he may posses. Not outwardly anyways.
He tilts his head slightly in her direction, flattening his mouth back into it's neutral state of a straight line, "No. Just someone who can fill my needs for tonight." let her take that statement as she will.
Emaria watched his gaze slide over the crowd, flickering from one person to the next. Maybe he was looking for someone, but Emaria realized now that it might now be a “specific” someone.
Her eyes narrowed a slight bit as she caught the smirk on his face. He knew. He’s felt her try and fail to get into his mind. Well, she was the daughter of the most powerful mind fairy, maybe the most powerful fairy, in the Otherworld. If she wanted to, Emaria was certain she could break through his defenses.
But his statement had her intrigued. What kind of needs did he desire to have filled? Just at that moment, a new song began to play over the speakers. Emaria’s expression brightened with a slightly drunken grin, and she looked blatantly at him as she asked, “Dance with me?”
Justin tilted his head, listening to the music, wondering if he could just fall in to the embrace of the notes. Let himself live and dance. If that's what it took to get a snack. He kept looking from face to face and then his gaze finally landed on the girl next to him. He really didn't want to give her his attention, but even he knew when to not be rude.
He tightened his mental walls more, strengthening them. He had four-hundred nineteen years of practice. He didn't know how old this girl was though. He blinked slowly once, and owlish blink before standing and nodding, "It won't kill anyone. And as long as you don't really. . . put yourself all over me, it will be fine."
(I got a cool idea for the title lmao)
Emaria watched his eyes blink widely at her, and an amused smirk appeared on her face. She could feel his mental walls strengthening again, and knowing that he knew she wasn’t human, Emaria pressed her magic against it again, coaxing it ever so slightly.
Meanwhile, she arched her eyebrows and grinned. “I’ll do my best,” she purred. “But no promises. Now come on.” Emaria snatched the man’s hand before he could resist and pulled him into the dance floor.
(I saw, lol. Looks amazing)
Justin could feel her magic pressing at his mind and he lets his lips curl up into a slight smile a the attempts. There was only one person he had met who could get past his shields, and that was Charlie. And maybe this girl would be able to as well, but he would do his best to keep her out. He ignored the magic against his mind and focused on building those shields even more. Reinforcing them as much as possible.
He let the woman take his hand. His skin, cool and smooth, did not like the contact. Justin didn't like it either, he did not do well with being touched without consent to do so. He kept that slight smile on his face, letting his blue eyes glow slightly, letting the slight joy cross his face for the barest of moments as he followed her to the dance floor.
Emaria's magic slipped over the outer barrier of his mind, grazing her presence along it and making herself known. Oh, it would be fun to play in his mind, whether she got past his defenses or not. Slipping into her powers was comforting and familiar, and Emaria loved to play a good game of 'Hard To Get.'
As she tugged him onto the dance floor, the fairy woman glanced back over her shoulder. She noticed the glow of his eyes and brief flits of emotion playing across his face. Once they were on the dance floor, Emaria leaned closer to him, closer than she probably should've, and spoke into his ear, "What are you?"
Justin watches the woman for long moments, letting his mind settle down behind the walls as he focused on her. He would know if she got through, and he had precautions set up if she did. She would probably not like to see what was in his mind. He smiles and slides easily between the body's of people dancing. Past jabbing elbows and thrusting hips until they reached a space big enough for the two of them.
He watched her and felt a hiss rising up in his throat and pushing it down before the sound was audible. She was too goddamn close for his liking. He felt his fangs yearn to stretch out and bite. He resisted that urge as well. He did not drink fae blood. he tilts his head slightly at her question, "Why, I am an apex predator. One yu do not want to piss off by being too close."
Emaria noticed the way he watched and studied her. He was so calm for someone whose mind was potentially at risk of being broken into. What kind of secrets did he harbor? What memories and emotions would she discover? Or was this stranger too powerful for even Emaria Dowling?
The fairy's eyes widened slightly at his answer. She took a moment to register the tilt of his head and the bite of his words before she blinked and cooly replied, "I'm an apex predator too. One who specializes in pissing other apex predators off. Pleased to meet you."
Justin almost feels like letting go and ignoring the woman he's with and dancing. But he hadn't done that since. . . he left that train of thought and went back to trying to decide who he should take a bite out of. Maybe that handsome man over there, or the woman by herself in the corner. Or maybe he should look in a different club all together.
He looks back at the woman he was currently with and gives her another of those owlish blinks. He tilts his head slightly, a soft laugh in his throat, "Well, I don't think you want to see what happens when you piss off this apex predator."
Emaria watched the man's eyes flicker around the club like he was again looking for someone. But he, yet again, couldn't seem to find who he was looking for. Interesting. What was so important about seeking another person? A stranger in this club who was obviously not Emaria.
His blink only made her more intrigued, as did his soft laugh. Emaria nearly shuddered for a moment, but she reigned herself back in. No losing control yet. Her smirk was well practiced, and her reply came with a daring hand pressing against his chest. "Maybe I do. What then?"
Justin gives up looking around the dance floor for a moment, focusing solely on the woman in front of him, his sapphire blue eyes zeroing in on her. He examined her face for a long moment. He could resort to desperate measures, gods knew he was hungry enough. But the last time he'd fed from another magical being, it didn't clash so well with his own. His fangs didn't see to care though as he could feel his canines wanting to sharpen and elongate, but he held them back.
He gently pushes her hand from his chest with his left wrist, watching her still, "What then? Perhaps you die, or perhaps you're lucky and survive what I would do to you." What he would do is lose control and do his best to drain this mildly annoying woman dry of all blood an magic. That would be great, considering the scandal that would be on his hands, the the problems he'd face.
Emaria's breath caught in her throat as she stared him down, the only thing trapped in his attentive gaze. She could practically see the thoughts swirling around in his mind, but as she tried to access them, she was again shut out. Damn! What did he have to hide that his shields were so strong? And how did he get them so strong in the first place?
She let her hand fall by her side, narrowing her eyes to study him. His words had her doing a double take. She scanned his body up and down, eyes sharpening with intent. "What are you?"
Justin tilts his head slightly, letting his hair fall over his shoulder in a wave. He debated letting her in and trapping her in his mind. Showing he what he was and what he did to annoying little people. But that wasn't playing fair. He'd only do that if she got into his mind. A lesson for poking around in things that did not concern her.
He smiles softly when her hand leaves his body, relived of the small burning sensation that always came when he was being touch by someone he did not know. He noticed her gaze focus more and her demeanor changed ever so slightly. He laughs softly, "You sure you want to find out, princess?"
The strength of his mental defenses was nothing like Emaria had ever seen in the First World before. It rivaled the strength of her mother’s shields, which were completely impenetrable to Emaria’s mind magic.
Emaria swallowed heavily and looked him up and down. His soft laugh shouldn’t have been able to be heard on the dance floor, but it reached Emaria’s ears just fine. The sound was almost too clear as it played in her mind.
“What the hell are you?” Emaria asked again, trying to take a small step back. She only bumped into someone, which sent her staggering an extra step forward toward him. The fairy yanked herself back, eyes wide, before she could touch him.
Justin was enjoying watching the girl freak out though he supposed he should stop being an ass. But hell, it was fun and he was hungry. Hungry enough that he might just want to feed on this Fae girl right here and now. His fangs ached even more to come out and he had to resit the urge to lunge forward and sink them into her flesh.
He smirks again and tilts his head, almost in a predatory gesture. Or perhaps it was a predatory gesture. He blinks slowly, "Princess, I am the thing of human legends and stories. I haunt the night like a bredator, and my bite can kill just as much as it can save."
(Normally, I wait a week to poke– but my stupid ADHD brain is hyper focused on this and I'm enjoying it. so. . . I am going to do the forbidden act- poke)
(Lol, I understand that 😂 I'm so sorry, I have a lot of rps myself and irl shit always seems to demand more and more, so…)
Emaria may not have been able to breach his mind, but she could still get a general sense of his emotions as well as observe his body language. And she could tell that he was enjoying playing with her. The way he tilted his head made Emaria shudder.
Her eyes only widened at his words. Painfully on cue, another dancer bumped into her from behind and forced her body up against his right when she whispered, "You're a godsdamned vampire."
(it's perfectly fine. I am sorry if I'm pestering)
Justin knew some of what he was feeling was portrayed. But he'd had four-hundred forty-four years of like, four-hundred nineteen of those he'd been a vampire. He knew what to hide and what too show.So everything she was seeing, he wanted her to see.
He grinned, flashing fang, "Yes, princess, now you understand. And I'm very hungry. Normally, I don't feed from faeries. But I might make an exception to that, if you'd allow me."
(No, don't worry about it! Sometimes I feel like I do the same thing! If you're ever anxious about this one, don't hesitate to bump it)
Emaria's eyes widened even more at the sight he allowed her of his fangs. Her heart was racing, and now she knew that he could probably sense that, especially being as close to him as she was.
She faltered at his words, nearly about to agree, but she blinked suddenly. "How do you know I'm fae?" she hissed. Yes, she knew he had felt her presence in his mind, but other species had telepathic abilities too. Realization struck her. The blood coursing through her veins… he could probably smell it too. And it screamed out her fae bloodline for him.
Justin wondered if the girl would try to get into his mind again. He wondered if she'd get through. He knew though, that she would regret it the moment she brok through and found herself stuck in his mind.
He laughs, still smiling. He steps back slightly, giving the young woman some space. "Your blood. I can smell it, I have a few Fae friends. I know what their blood smells like." He takes a deep breath through his nose, closing his eyes, "Am I wrong? It's possible I am."
