"Wow!" Karen said, with mock hurt. "I never thought that you would say something like that to me! I feel offended!"
"Get over it," she said.

Gemma pulled into the driveway, police cars already there. She stepped out, slamming the door behind her - the car's doorhandle cracking a bit in the process - and she ran like thunder to the house's front door.
"What if I can't?"
Ten minutes later, Gemma was back home, crying extremely hard. Both her grandparents had died - because of her. She'd forgotten to call them to take their evening pills, and thus, they'd both died at around one o'clock in the morning. What's more, the only thing that both of them had left to her was a small little book - a worthless, handmade one.
"Then I'm arranging your funeral."
The book was lying on the table - there was stitching along the leather cover that spelled out The Right Way. Everything inside was hand-written with pen and pencil - there were some illustrations, but Gemma hadn't bothered to look at them - and it was hand-binded, too. On the inside cover, it said her grandmother had made it, but understandably, Gemma didn't feel like reading it right now.
Karen snorted. "Good luck with that."
(Maybe when she reads the book?)
(okay)
Still crying some, Gemma decided it was now best to at least take a look in the book, even though she would probably not get in any sort of depth.
Nia went home happy. A day with her sister was just what she had needed after a breakup.
Gemma, we’ve been doing it all wrong. You’ve been doing it all wrong.
And then she thought of Gemma.
Little Gem, you know how we fought. And you know how you fought.
And her mood darkened. She shouldn’t have yelled at me, Nia thought bitterly.
With all the girls and boys, most recently Nia. We saw how you fought with her. How it ended you two.
But, they hadn’t technically broken up. There was just a fight.
We know where you got that. You got it from us.
So, they could still get back together. Maybe. Nia wasn’t so sure how she felt about that now.
We were wrong. We’ve been teaching you wrong this entire time, and we don’t want you living your entire life after us. You need to change.
She wouldn’t admit to herself that, deep down, she still likes Gemma.
Little gem, we know you still like Nia. You simply thought you had to break up with her, punish her for every mistake, because that’s what we did. But you don’t. You need to start over.
But she had no idea why.
You can get back with Nia, and start over. Don’t fight - instead, have compassion. Don’t care for only yourself, put yourself in her shoes every once in a while.
Gemma had yelled at her, broke her heart, and made her regret everything she’d ever done.
