Yong used the wall to help her stand. "Thank you, uh…" She looked at Max. "What's your name?"

"I… I'm Max," he replied.

"Nice to meet you Max." She nodded at him rather than shaking hands. "My real name is Mul Yong."

"W-wait I thought you were Maria…" Max said, then realized how dumb he sounded. Trying to be as kind as possible, he mustered up the courage to ask Mul Yong, "If you lied to me about your name, have you lied about anything else that I should know?"

She raised an eyebrow at him. "I haven't really told you anything else, kid."

"Well… good point," Max replied, trying to recover from his mistake. "Anyways, I should probably get home now, I have homework, and it's going to take me forever to finish my calc homework."

"Calculus, eh? I remember acing that class…" She muttered the last part, not sure if he could hear her or not. "Good luck. And thanks again."

"No problem! It's not really a matter of understanding, but actually finishing them all in time. Yesterday I barely managed to avoid pulling an all-nighter," Max nodded in acknowledgement. "On that note, see you around?"

She gave him a soft chuckle. "Yeah, maybe."

Looking towards the city skyline, he realizes that it's starting to get a bit dark, even though it's still bright enough for him to read a book without the city lights, he wants to take a taxi back. It'll be faster that way. He may be taking 10th grade level classes, but he was only 14, for pete's sake. rummaging in his pockets for any pocket money, he finds a ten dollar bill and exactly four cents. i hope that's enough… he thinks.
