Nathalie looked helpless without anything to do. "Sir, Iā€¦"

Nathalie nodded slowly. "Yes, sir." She went back to the car one last time and took her silver tablet from the seat where she'd left it. He wasn't going to take this from her, no matter what he did. She clutched it in her hand as she followed Mr. Manchester into the airport.

Henry stood closely next to Jace. "I know you don't like the fact of Nathalie being here, but you have to behave."

Nathalie placed herself expertly - standing close enough to be associated with them but far away enough to not invade on the privacy of their conversation.

"Dad, you know how I feel about this," Jace replied. "I never get to spend anytime with you because you're always working. This was supposed to be just for us."

Nathalie did her best to not listen, but she couldn't help but overhear the last part. "Just for us," he'd said. Not for her too, he'd implied. She did her best to remain stolid.

"Plans change, Jace."
"Yeah, but this one shouldn't have! I've been looking forward to this trip for a year and a half, dad!"

Nathalie distracted herself by looking at the schedule of the flights. Theirs wasn't here yet.

Henry started to say something more before seeing that Jace wasn't interested in hearing it so stopped.

"Yes Nathalie?" Henry asked, still looking at his son, who was avoiding his gaze.

"Our flight is ready to be boarded," she informed him simply. She allowed herself one quick glance at Jace.

Jace returned her gaze with a firm glare. He hated the fact that she was here.

Nathalie coughed to clear her throat. "Do you need me to carry anything, Jace?" she asked politely.

Nathalie wasn't sure of what to do, so she tentatively reached out and took some of the things he was carrying, mindfully keeping her tablet tucked in her grip.

Her tablet slipped out of her fingers and hit the floor before she could catch it. She scooped it up and examined it quickly for damages before tucking it under her shoulder and looking at Jace again. "I'm sorry," she said quietly.

Nathalie nodded slowly. "You have every right to be mad, Jace," she said softly, the busy airport almost covering her words.

Deleted user

She tensed for a moment before turning to Henry again. "Mr. Manchester, our flight is boarding," she informed him again.

Nathalie followed him with quick, diligent strides. She checked the time. It would be her fault if they were late.
