A mischievous smile tugged at his lips. "You're right. This could be a lot of fun." He got up and spread his wings for the first time. The long, dark feathers spread out like that of a bird's. "I'm just wandering around the city. Wanna come? We've got nothing better to do."

August's eyes widened as Apollo spread out his wings. "Wow! That's not what I was expecting!" He scanned the wings, they were amazing. "Those are really amazing."

Deleted user

"Thank you," he grinned. "You don't have any?" He searched August's back for a pair but there was none. "I wasn't expecting you to not have any wings!" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, smiling. "Do any of the people you knew have any wings? Before, you know, everyone got wiped out?"

Deleted user

"Nope, I've only ever seen people with wings in movies, so never in real life," August replied with a smile. He was finally out of his very bad makeshift shelter. He looked around. It was so silent, no cars, no lawnmowers, no people, not even any birds.

His grin widened. "Want to go for a ride, then?" Before August could respond, he grabbed him by the arm, hefted him onto his back, and took off. He didn't go too fast, for August's sake, but went at a decent speed soaring above the city.

August started shaking. He wasn't a big fan of heights, not at all. "U-uhm can we… we go back to the ground?"

Deleted user

"Of course!" He really didn't want to l, as he was having tons of fun, with a wild grin on his face, but he did a flip, holding on to August tightly, and landing gracefully back on the ground. "How was that?"

Deleted user

August shook his head. "Please no, never again. I probably have acrophobia, I guess I should have mentioned that before…" He let out a shaky breath, calming down.

Deleted user

"Oh…I'm sorry. Well, guess it's a good thing you don't have wings." He folded his up and noticed they landed right in front of an overturned car. His stomach churned as he noticed the blood pooling beside it. "Let's just keep going. Maybe we can find someone else!"

August took in a sharp breath, slowly letting it out, once he saw the pool. He turned away and stepped off the car. "Yeah… let's go." He started wandering down the deserted street.

Apollo followed, glancing around at the abandoned city. "Are you from around here?" He asked, now looking down at his feet.

Deleted user

"Yeah… born and raised." August pointed to a cafe. "I remember always stopping there after school to get something or other before going home or somewhere with my friends…" That was just one of the memories flooding through his mind. One reason he hadn't left his alley was that he was afraid of the memories and emotions that would appear. He was bad with emotions and it never seemed to end well when he acknowledged them.

Apollo nodded and glanced at the cafe he was talking about. "That sounds nice…I'm sure you have lots of good memories here.." This only made him wonder who would wipe out all these people, and why. Who would do such a thing? And why leave August and him as the only survivors?

August nodded. He looked down at his feet and kicked a piece of broken glass. He swallowed back a sob. He couldn't, wouldn't, dare let his emotions get in the way especially since he had just met Apollo.

Apollo stopped in his tracks. A vision played in his head, of cars crashing and a piece of debris flying through the window of the cafe and shattering it into pieces. Almost as quickly as it came, it was gone, and he was back into reality, holding his head with one hand.

August turned back to look at Apollo. "Hey, you okay?" He asked, taking a step toward him. He stepped on a piece of glass and it shattered in all directions under his weight.

Apollo glanced up. "Yeah…I'm fine. Let's keep going," he muttered hastily, quickly catching up with August. His head screamed with pain but he would never admit it to August.

Deleted user

"If you say so." August looked around taking in just how baron his town was. As they wandered deeper into the city, August began thinking about what he would be doing if this whole thing hadn't happened. He started wandering around mindlessly.

Apollo sighed, shoving his hands in his pockets and flexing his wings. The city smelled slightly of smoke, but it was faded and distant, as if the fire had cleared out a while ago. His stomach rumbled indignantly. "Wanna find something to eat? I'm starving. Haven't eaten since I woke up."

August was pulled back into reality and he nodded slightly. "Yeah, sure." He was still so overwhelmed by the situation, that may have been one of the reasons he had stayed in place instead of exploring the town.
