"Because it's the right thing to do." He replied.
"Because it's the right thing to do." He replied.
She closed her eyes and winced. "Is it?"
"Yes. Family… no matter what they do," He released a breath, "Are important."
Her eyes softened. "Alright…"
He kissed her lips before a moment, "Everything's going to be fine." He whispered, standing and taking her with him.
She curled against him. "I trust you," she whispered.
"I'm glad." He kissed her head before he carried her to the car, placing her inside before heading to his side.
She leaned against the seat and sighed, absently fingering her lips.
Colton climbed in and buckled up before he started the engine and backed out of the clearing.
Her heart slowly filled with dread, remembering everything that had happened before. They were going back to a world that rejected them. She looked over at him with wide, pleading eyes, but her lips didn't form words.
"No, Paige. We have to go back. We can make it through whatever it is the world will put us through and come out on top, okay?" He offered her a small smile, "I promise."
"Hannah," she said heavily, like the name was an anchor that weighed her down.
"Don't think about her. Who cares about her. She's a bitch."
"She knows. And she's going to tell everyone else who I really am, and they'll laugh at me!"
"Listen to me Paige. Who gives a damn? You shouldn't care about what people thank about you. Their opinions don't matter. You're never going to see them again after high school and they only judge you because they aren't happy with themselves and are insecure. You need to prove to them you are better then them. And you are, you are amazing and they are just dirt in your shoes. Don't listen because they don't matter."
"I can't help but care what they think," she whispered.
"Yes you can. And I'll help you if you need it."
"Please," she said quietly.
He nodded, "Of course."
She smiled shyly. "Thank you."
"Anything for you."
She blushed shyly. "Thank you…" she repeated slowly.
"Paige, there's no need to," He smiled softly.
"That's not true. If I hadn't met you, I probably would be…" dead.
He shook his head a little, "Don't think in the past. I know how bad it can be if you do that."
