" that's not what is" he started to giggle " can't you fucking see it yet you dense man. I have fallen hard for you Brutus. I can't get you out of my head and I kept it down and constantly shoving words back in my throat for you because I knew you loved your wife so I never said anything! But I can't hold it back! I love you, Brutus. Can't you see that?"
Brutus looked at Cassius in a particular way. "I must be dense, aren’t I Cassius. Such an odd man you are, to speak a confession so loud. You must quiet your voice or others will get suspicious. Who said I loved my wife as much as you claim. She broke my heart and how it shall be mended is left to fate." He grabbed Cassius' hand. "I can see that now, Cassius." He shrugged. "I've grown fond of you too… te quoque amo." He paused. "Such an odd thing to say."
" pleaze, let me help in mending your heart." He said softly, moving closer to Brutus. His eyes teared up once again. The third time this night but this time they were happy, happy to have gotten it off his chest and happy to be so close to the man he fell so hard for.
Brutus flinched at Cassius' soft nature. He knew he could…get off his rocker when he was drunk, but this was something new. "I will let you as long as we still continue our murder plans." He muttered. Brutus moved closer to Cassius steadily, comforting him as he cried his eyes out. He patted the man on the back. "Don't cry, my.." What should he call Cassius now?
" I am sorry.. I should not have drank so much, " he tried to regain his steady body. " you can call me what you wish, so long as it's not bastard. " he joked, trying to lighten brutus's mood "tu mihi solus fait brutus, utcumque mihi promittis quod accidit non me latere relinques?"
Brutus' mood was still sour. He looked at Cassius with slight disdain. "You really shouldn't have. You are stumbling all over the place like a newborn. Set yourself straight." He had his hands on his hips while looking Cassius up and down. "Well, you're bastard now." He laughed. What a perfect nickname for Cassius. "Do I dare call you something other?" He grabbed hold of Cassius, setting him up straight. "Non promitto, Cassius. Malum est fortuna ad eum qui fecit si rumpitur."
Cassius fell into Brutus's arms and flushed at his cheeks, a deep crimson set under his eyes " call me lover~" he teased silkily.
Brutus rolled his eyes at the drunken acts of Cassius. “Now dear Cassius, that was quick jump in the few minutes I’ve known of your feelings. I will not hesitate to call you a stupid bumbling bumble bee.” He joked, bringing a little smile to his own face. “Now, you have to pick yourself up. You are not fit to stay up to midnight.”
" I am too! I can hold my stomach just as well as the next man, I can prove it," he smirked, still holding onto Brutus to stay steady.
" does thou Brutus think he can prove otherwise?" He challenged
Brutus purses his lips, looking at one intoxicated Cassius. “Olympos would tell me otherwise. I would need lots of proof. You look like you’re about to burst any moment.” He raised an eyebrow at the hypocrisies of Cassius. “I, Brutus, does think he can prove the Cassius otherwise.”
" then do it, " he giggled a bit and ran his fingers through his own unruly hair.
Brutus had one simple solution. He lead Cassius to his bedroom and lay him in his bed. He took the glass from the fool, putting it on the ground and pulled the sheet over him. “There we have it. That’s how you make one Cassius fall asleep.”
Cassius giggled again. Smiling up at his new partner. " Lay with me brutus, please" he asked tiredly now, the warmth of the covers taking hold quickly
Brutus looked down at Cassius unsure what he should do. He didn’t want the public to know. “Alright.” He breathed in sharply. He made his way to the other side of the bed and laid down in it. He tried his best to get comfy, being in a new place was odd.
Cassius smiled a bit " no one will know, messala has been told to stay in his own quarters. " He reassured, letting Brutus get comfy before cuddling up to the other man
Brutus flushed a bit, turning his head. “Good, he should stay there forever.” He let his arm be taken by Cassius, the man clinging onto him like a marsupial. His flush became stronger. “Oh Cassius. Must you cling to me like a baby?”
" I am not clinging to you like a baby, it is only cuddling. "
Brutus rolled his eyes. “Only you would do that Cassius. I can’t say that most couples cuddle.” He’s still grumpy, planning to take his arm back when he fall asleep. He definitely was not up to cuddling. “But it does make you seem like a baby, Cass.” Shortening the man’s name. He was too tired to say the rest.
" would you prefer if I stop? " He asked softly, clearly falling asleep. " I like that.. when you say my name like that.."
Cassius yawned, tucking his head closer to brutus as he closed his eyes, his eyelids heavy with sleep
Brutus sighed. “Do whatever you need to fall asleep. I need a break from your nonsense.” He closed his eyes. “Then I shall call you Cass more often if you like it so much.” He tried to regulate his breathing. Some conditioned part of him was telling him he was being a fool and he should just go home. Another part suggested not.
Cassius sighed , " are you cross with me?" He asked hesitantly. " You seem upset"
Brutus looked at Cassius. “No, I’m not crossed with you, dear Cass. I’m crossed with myself. Two little sides at war telling me what to do. It’s not your fault.” He laid there with Cassius attached to him and he moved himself closer to Cassius. “I have had a rough night. I need something it wash it all away.”
" I am sorry, I may not be able to help clear your mind. " He sighed, unhappy that he was no use to helping Brutus.
" Maybe talking about it would help, your doing something clear your mind, I mean, I did offer you a drink"
Brutus looked at Cassius sadly. "Do not apologize, dear Cass. My mind is a lost cause." He brushed Cassius' cheek with his thumb. "You see, something about this feels wrong, but it also feels right. It's quite vexing. Maybe if my cheating wife was no longer, my mind could easily rest." He shivered at the thought. "But she did wrong to me, so tell me, dear Cass, am I in the wrong." He sighed, looking for some emotion in Cass' eyes. "I do not wish to drink while in bed. I find it impolite."
" it's not wrong, the fact that she chose someone else over the noble Brutus is sickening. " He leaned into Brutus's touch, putting his hand into the others free one. " If you want to we may get up so you can ease your mind, I do not mind staying up with you."
Cassius's eyes held remorse and sadness. Seeing his lover like this clearly hut him, but there was also a warm love, inviting and loving
