The two kingdom's had been at war as long as anyone could remember. No one is quite sure why it started, or who even started it. Though the war is now in the past. As 5 years ago, Kingdom A finally conquered the other kingdom. However, this wasn't the end as Kingdom A's army was determined to eradicate any hope of rebellion. Military posts litter what used to be Kingdom B and spies are listening from every corner. Any subjects from Kingdom B that have even suggested change have been forced into slavery. Of course, that doesn't stop all rebellion.

On the final day of the charge, the crown princess of Kingdom B, Princess Cicada, managed to escape the castle walls. She fled to the streets and began the first, and so far strongest, movement of rebellion. Five years they managed to stay underground with little attention drawn to them, but it couldn't last forever. Rumors of her presence and what the precious princess of Kingdom B had become, a monster of sorts, floated around the guards of Kingdom A. All the way up until the princess was captured by Kingdom A and being taken to their palace where she is to be held while they force any information out of her. While being held she is graced by the presence of the crown prince(ss) of Kingdom A, your character, now in charge of either convincing Princess Cicada to marry him/her or getting the information needed to destroy the remaining rebellion. Though getting her to do either will be a challenge.

It's fantasy so pick whatever species you want and magic is allowed, just nothing overpowered. Also, I would like this to end up being romantic.

mhm!

Tabatha was ecstatic when she heard the news. Visitors are coming. The courtier she had been talking to failed to tell her exactly who, but it seemed as though they were a big deal. Her peers seemed anxious; there was a lot of buzz around the castle and amongst the court. After giving a final curtsey to the man, she rushed off to tell the princess. There wasn’t much to share, but she knew the lady would be excited to hear some kind of news. Things had been relatively dull recently. Any news was good news.

As nonchalantly as she could, she entered Alice’s bedchamber. Fellow ladies-in-waiting milled around the room, looking out the window, muttering compliments to the princess, gossiping on the chaise lounges. Perhaps she wasn’t as subtle as she previously thought. “What are you grinning about, Tabbie?” one of the ladies spoke up, beginning to smile herself.

“Well,” Tabbie began, “Lord Wilkins has informed me that the court is expecting a visitor in the next week. I am unsure who though, unfortunately.” Conversation picked back up again. Giggles and predictions filled the room.

“Maybe it’s a foreign prince!” exclaimed one.

“Oh, yes, and maybe he’ll bring some of his men for us to meet!” lilted another.

Tabatha didn’t take part in the gossip. She was only truly interested in the ladies in waiting that accompanied visiting princesses and noblewomen, anyway. Instead, she seated herself on a chair near Alice and looked to her for a reaction.

Name: Cicada Flare
Nickname: Cada, Cade
Age: 21
Species: Demon
Gender: Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Pansexual
Appearance: Short dark red hair cut so that she appears more boyish than female, black curled horns that turn gold at the tips, black-framed wings with red webbing that also fades to gold, brown eyes that have a fiery aura to them, slightly pointed ears, tan skin, freckles across the nose, cheeks, and shoulders; overall a very thin and wiry frame, wrappings around her chest to make her seem more flat-chested than she is, and scars that litter her body everywhere.
Clothing: A loose plain beige tunic, loose brown pants, a solid brown hat, and cloak. The only significant possession she wears is her golden crown circlet with a ruby in the center and golden chains around the horns. She covers them with the hat of course.
Personality: The best way to summarize Cicada is a hothead. Her emotions drive most of her actions, but as of late she's become tight-lipped and a little more think first then do. Her uprising gave her a well-versed education so she's quite intelligent and able to make plans on the fly. Though most of those plans go out of the window once her emotions get the better of her.
Power: Pyrokinesis is her main power and the one she uses most openly. She also has telepathy, but because she had a difficult time keeping it under control. Her circlet is not only a representation of her royal standing but also imbued with power to help her control her powers.
Preferred Weapon: Daggers and swords, but anything with a blade will do.
Family?: None, they're all dead.

Name: Haumea Abomond
Nickname: Mae
Age: 20
Species: Witch
Gender: Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: She has light, silvery hair that reaches just past her shoulders. She normally keeps it in more formal styles, more for the enjoyment of her self and suitors than anything else. Her eyes are a soft, light pink. Her skin is pale. Combined with her hair color, she would look ghostly if not for the makeup and glamours she uses on herself when she’s around others. She’s thin as well, and relatively short.
Clothing: She dresses to impress most of the time. Most of the time, she wears intricate dresses that either she or her close friends design. Many of them are brightly colored, normally pink or jade green (the color of her family). She rarely makes her own clothing. On only the most formal occasions, she dons a silver diadem peppered with precious gems. Normally, she wears silver earrings, usually including some kind of heart imagery or inscribed with a safety sigil.
Personality: Haumea is a hopeless romantic. Most of the time, she is soft and trusting of others, except when she has to be. Even then, she has a hard time being coarse. She is hurt easily, but learns from her mistakes (most of the time). Sometimes, she is prone to rambling, which is detrimental to her and her family. She is very outgoing most of the time.
Power: She is skilled in herbology, which helps her heal illness and wounds. It’s not all-powerful, but it helps. She can also perform basic spells.
Preferred Weapon: She doesn’t know how to use many weapons, but she does secretly keep a dagger in her room. She is slowly but surely learning offensive spells, but they’re not very strong.
Family: Her parents are alive. She is also very close to her sister, Eris.

@ShadeStar

Cicada hadn't been down in the dungeon for long, she knew that much for sure. Maybe two to three days, but it felt like an eternity. The first thing they had done was strip her of most possessions leaving her with close to nothing except for the clothes on her back (barely), the circlet on her head and the chains around her horns. Her hands and legs had been chained to the floor and pegs driven through her wings also forcing them to the floor. As much as it was painful, at least these monsters hadn't cut them off yet as she had seen with some of the other demons they made their slaves. Between her arrival and now she had been visited a few times each one worst than the last leaving her bruised, battered, and bleeding. Despite all of this she had refused to break underneath them. Today was different. Whispers of gossip flowed throughout the dungeon and while Cicada couldn't make them out from her place chained to the floor, but she still bristled in preparation for whatever was to come to her

@thelogicofkings

Haumea was nervous. Her parents had charged her with a heavy mission: get information out of one of their most dangerous prisoners, or, better yet, marry her. A simple task. Should be a breeze for Haumea, right? She already spends so much time showing off for her suitors and her friends; this shouldn’t be too big of a deal, right? Haumea wasn’t sure.

Eris was much more suited to the task. She was much more straight to the point. Intimidating. She could be great at interrogating someone without beating them, like the others who had gone down to visit Cicada. Haumea was unsure why she was chosen, but who was she to challenge her parents ordered?

Nevertheless, her and her ladies got her ready for her first meeting with the prisoner, former-princess. She dressed in one of her more formal dresses. It was her family’s signature color. She was representing all her family. Before leaving for the dungeons, she burned a protective sigil, along with one for luck. Then, she set out for the basement of the castle, painfully alone. At least she had a guard that followed behind at a respectable distance.

Once down there, she took a deep breath and stepped in front of Cicada’s cell. She could do this. In the most level voice she could, she said, “Hello, may I enter?”

@ShadeStar

Cicada looked up to see Princess Haumea at the entrance of her cell. From all she had heard this princess was passive and nothing like the guards who had come in the past days. So the fact she was hear was a slight shock to Cicada, but she didn't let her guard down still stiff and waiting for someone, or thing, to strike at her. Her eyes scanned the princess carefully taking note of the current difference in appearances. It almost disgusted Cicada to see Princess Haumea dressed so fancily while the other knew people were starving in the kingdom she ruled over. Though the fact that the princess asked if she could enter threw Cicada off for but a moment. Her teeth were bared slightly as she responded, "I don't really have a choice do I?"

@thelogicofkings

Haumea flushed momentarily, glancing at the guard quickly, before returning her gaze to Cicada. “No… No, I suppose not.” She tensed slightly before opening the cell and entering. The guard moved to come in with her, but she shook her head. Perhaps she would talk more if there weren’t as many threatening figures around… And maybe water, or food, could help! She was unsure how much Cicada was being fed. By the looks of it, food was scarce.

Haumea turned to the guard. “Will you fetch a glass of water?”

“Will you be okay on your own, Madam?” Haumea hated being called that. But she wouldn’t admit it.

“I, erm…. yes.” She offered a curt nod, and the guard left them in search of water.

Haumea turned back to Cicada. She saw the bruises all over her body. Was she really that dangerous chained up like this? “I’m sure things have been rough down here.” It wasn’t a question, more of an introduction, a way to stall the process. No one had really taught her the questions she should be asking. And the marriage thing was currently a last resort.

@ShadeStar

Cicada realized how dry her mouth was once the princess mentioned water. She hadn't realized how long it had been since she had actually had water. It wasn't changing her stance on how she felt about the princess standing in front of her. She knew she looked awful, but the pity her highness was giving Cicada was unwelcome, to say the least. Her eyes kept on both the princess and her guard. She almost wanted to laugh at Princess Haumea's last comment. What did she think Cicada had been through? Simply being held? No, the moment she had entered the cell was the moment her pain and torture began. She wasn't sure what was worse when they nailed her wings to the ground or the lashing that came with her fighting back. "What do you think your highness?" her voice snarled at the title, "Has my time down here been rough?"

@thelogicofkings

Haumea’s face soured at the other’s snarling. She had been warned this would be difficult, trying. Three minutes in and it was already harder than much of her life before. Nevertheless, she formulated some kind of tentative plan. Distance yourself for now, maybe you both can come to some peace later.

“You… you know why I’m here, I assume. They have not told me much about you. Things will be easier for everyone involved if you cooperate. I can help make sure they,” she said, gesturing to the approaching guard, “won’t hurt you anymore.” She wasn’t sure if she actually could do that, but she did have some influence. At least, she hoped she did. She just wanted the information. Any information. Haumea crossed her arms over her chest.

“I know about the rebel organization. Where is your base located?” The chances of getting a straight answer were slim, but it was a start.

@ShadeStar

Cicada knew why Princess Haumea was here, or at least she assumed. To get information from her. And he was quickly proven correct by the following question. The naive idealism of this princess thinking she could get information out of Cicada without harming her made her want to laugh. There was no way she was telling her anything willing. In fact, considering the princess hadn't run or showed any outward signs of nervousness meant Princess Haumea couldn't tell that the princes chained in front of her was dangerous. She wanted to laugh at that. Considering all of this, she found no problem antagonizing the naive princess, "What? You think I'm just going to tell you? Not way in hell."

@thelogicofkings

The guard held the cup of water between the bars of the cell. Haumea took it and stared down into its contents. The water was relatively clear, the cup a bit misshapen. She looked back at Cicada, thinking of her next move. Getting discouraged by her first failure(s) wouldn't work in her favor.

She shrugged, figuring why not, and set the full cup of water a small distance away from herself on the floor. It was midway between the two of them, out of the reach of Cicada. Manipulation could work. She was willing to try most things, if it helped budge her opponent, even a little bit.

“Well, we both seem to have all the time in the world, so if it takes a while, so be it.” Her hand reached up to touch her right earring, a nervous tic of hers. “That was a bit bold, wasn’t it? We can start small. What… what led you to the organization?”

@ShadeStar

Cicada watched as the cup of water was placed out of her reach. Her eyes snapped off from the movements and up to the princess, so she knew something of bargaining. Though it was a poor bargain considering Cicada figured she could go a lot longer without water. That part might be a bit more of a lie than most of her thoughts, but it kept her going. She wasn't giving an inch to her enemy, "I'm sure you can figure that much out. In fact, I'm surprised you haven't already. Stop. Trying. I'm not telling you anything."

@thelogicofkings

Haumea shrugged, despite her inner turmoil. Her mind raced with a multitude of thoughts, not all of them positive. She was supposed to be a last ditch effort to get information out of Cicada, so what would happen to the former princess if she failed? What would happen to Haumea if she failed? She snapped out of it. This whole thing had to work, even if it took time. Gods, how she wished that Eris would come and help.

“I won’t give up that easily.” Haumea huffed before straightening her posture once more. “And I know you won’t either…” she added in a whisper, eyes wandering the floor of the cell. It was dingy, she had to admit. They should certainly clean down here more often. “I haven’t been outside of the castle much. What’s it like out there?” More basic than before. A better start, she hoped.

@ShadeStar

"A lot like this cell," Cicada retorted back at the princess. She hadn't minded the cell since it wasn't much unlike the rebel base she had lived in the past five years. In fact, it might be a little cleaner than the base. Of course, the base was on the worse end of the spectrum, but it wasn't like the area around wasn't much better. Most of what had been her kingdom was left in a dingy dirty state and from what she'd seen of Princess Haumea's kingdom, the other was much the same.

@thelogicofkings

Haumea frowned. It was disappointing to say the least. Her parents prided themselves on conquering this kingdom, but what use was that when it was left in disrepair? ‘Maybe she’s lying. Yes, that must be it,’ Haumea thought. ‘She’s just trying to get me riled up, or something.

“And the people? What are they like?” Part of her motive was pure curiosity, to be fair. This still counted as getting information, right?
