Next thing she knew, she had found herself face to face with the devil. The blood drained from her face as her eyes widened in fear. She timidly tried to take a step back, leaning as far back from his extended hand as possible. Every fiber of her being told her to scream and run, but she couldn’t move. Silent and frozen.
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" he chuckled. "I mean you no harm, but you see, you're coming with me whether you like it or not."
“B- but- but,” She stuttered, starting to shake again. Tears spilled over her cheeks, unable to comprehend everything going on. Squaring her shoulders, trying to seem less miserable and weak, which barely worked, she finally asked in a pained voice, “What, what do you want from me? Why me…”
"You seem very interesting." He states. "and because I can't refuse an offer made by my followers can I?"
“How, how can you say that?! You don’t know me at all..” She wiped the tears off her face with the sleeve of her shirt, starting to pull herself back together. Catching her breath, she looked back up at him, a mixed look of worry, fear, and innocence all mixing there.
"Oh, I do. I see you a lot. More than most people." He smirked
She crossed her arms in front of her, then asked, her voice shakey, “What’s that supposed to mean?! And why- why me…” She trailed off, and dropped her gaze, unable to hold eye contact with him.
"What I mean is that I seemed to always keep demons away from you more than a normal person." He said with a Serious tone. "I don't let demons go all willy nilly like people think I do"
Hearing this, she raised her head again, locking eyes with him. Her gaze seemed to soften. “You, you really did that? Well.. I guess I have to thank you for that..” her voice was soft, and the shaky tone started to disappear.
"I'm not as mean as you think I am. Unless you get on my nerves then…That's a different story" He crossed his arms and sighed. "anyways we need to get going."
“Well that’s a relief,” she offered the slightest bit of humor under her breath, the side of her mouth turning up in a half smile. “If you don’t mind my asking, where are we going,” She timidly asked, hoping that she wasn’t pushing her luck at all.
"where do you think?" he said almost more than asked
She flinched back, then muttered, “Oh… yeah… sorry..” Definitely pushing her luck, she concluded.
"Anyways Ready?" He clearly didn't like it here.
“Yeah… As ready as I can be.” She shrugged halfheartedly.
He sighed and teleported them back into a room that had black colored walls, with a queen sized bed that had a red comfort, A desk, And a walk in closet. The closet had dark colored clothes like red, black, and dark grays. The desk has a few blank papers, an ink bottle, and a quill. "This will be your room for now. There isn't much but it will suffice." He said with a normal expression.
She looked around the room. “It’s- it’s nice… Thank you… The color scheme is really nice,” she quietly said, genuinely meaning it. She ran her hands over her arms, feeling out of place and nervous.
"I need to go do something. Do Not. I repeat. Do Not leave this room," he said as he walked out of the room.
Adagio didn’t get a chance to reply before he left the room. She really didn’t have a want or need to leave the room anyway- believe it or not, she really wasn’t in the mood to explore the devils realm. She looked around the room again, then walked over to the bed. She sat down on the edge, then flopped backwards onto it, staring at the ceiling and trying to comprehend all that had happened.
A helper walked in and smiled 'kindly'. "I was told to see if you needed anything."
She instantly sat up and turned to look in their direction. Drawing her legs up to her chest, she forced herself to smiled back and replied, “No thanks- I’m good.”
"You sure your not hungry or anything?" She was trying to be polite.
She slumped into herself a little then insisted, “No, I’m alright. Thank you very much though.” She smiled at her again, this one more genuine.
"If you say so, mistress." she bowed and left
She watched as she left, not able to help the small smile that still lingered on her face. She stared down at the bedsheets, trying to figure out what all that would happen would mean for her life. She began to spiral down the huge paths of what if, trying to picture her future with the devil. She tried to stay optimistic, continuously reminding herself that things couldn’t be all that bad.
