Sari Helen Daysburough (my character) is six. Her parents are the richest on Dou Island, an island off the east coast of the U.S. They aren't, however, very good parents. When Sari is pushed off the top of a carriage by her drunk parents' drunk friends, she is left in the mud and found by the town outcast (who grows soft on Sari). They discover later that Sari's parents died of alcohol poisoning, and the only one in the town who wants to take the child is the town outcast.
!!This takes place in the 1920's on a fictional U.S island, (that was primarily native) and has to be mostly historically accurate!!
Your character is the town outcast, and I can maybe allow at most two more people for other characters (a romantic interest for the town outcast, a close friend, a cat, etc.)
